There is one point I would really like to chime in on here. Personally, this game looked like absolutely nothing I would be interested in, whatsoever. I'm not into anime, I'm not into social sim games, and I'm really not big on J-pop art or music. In fact, the only things that made me try it out were these two facts: It's a dungeon crawling J-RPG, and it's been highly revered. I figured that must of been for a reason.
Anyway, once I gave it a shot, even with the very little amount of interest I had going in, it was a fucking amazing experience and I loved every second of it.
The point is, even if you're like me, and not a fan of anime or really any super Japanese-ey type things, you will still find this game to be everything you're looking for, if you give it a chance.
I just think that's truly an amazing testament to how fantastically crafted the experience is.
You should play Persona 3 :D P3P to be specific. That was fucking brilliant

Same here man. When I first saw the reviews for this game, I wasn't completely sold on the game even with all the hype. I thought the game just looked ridiculous and too cartoony for me. I decided to purchase and try it to see what alk the fuss was about, and I have to say this game has not only changed me as a person (seriously its that good), it has also got me interested in gaming again, because I was kinda burned out with all the repetitive dudebro fps games. Now I am shopping for all the great Rpg games I can get for my vita. Im currently playing through Persona 3 Fes and man what a freaking brilliant game it is. Its just amazing that I got to experience such a great game like this.
I start playing this game at 2PM.
I look up from my vita to see it's 7PM.

Then realize it’s now december
60 hours just for the main story but if you do all of the side quests it'll take you more than 130. Plus this game cannot be 100% complete in one playthrough. My first play through took me 137 hours. My second 97 hours. There's also multiple endings. This game is definitely one of the greatest ever created. Best RPG I've played in a very long time and in my opinion, it's the best one out now.
This game would be enough for anyone (mostly RPG/Persona fans) to buy a Vita!

The game's not that big. Don't let that comment scare you. Play as you would live your own life; don't treat it like a game and you'll be fine. Go home, study, or hang out after school with friends. Drink coffee, do whatever you want. it's great fun.

Autodidactus Plays JRPGs what’s wrong with that comparison? It’s make sense considering pokemon is more we’ll known, for someone who is a casual gamer it gets them somewhat an idea of what personas are. Though when I describe personas to friends, I compare them to stands but not everyone knows Jojo

+laginw I love Persona 4 and its my favorite game of all time. but it isnt perfect, its linearity in the town and certain features that were taken out of this game from Persona 3 kills the perfect score, but its pretty close. I think Gregg Miller rated this game right.

And I prefer Inaba vs the town in P3. Inaba feels much more homey and welcoming compared to that town being a "big city".

Truly an amazing game ever. Haven't play Persona games before, back on PS2 times and I thought it was just another decent game. But I bought a Vita with P4G few weeks ago and I regret nothing, Persona 4 Golden has literally taken me to their world (Inaba :P), I feel like I belong with everyone there and the place. When playing the game nothing else's matter to me anymore. Yup, I love the game so much, it's such a shame I didn't play Persona games back on PS2. Now I'm super hyped for Persona 5! The only RPG game that is worth dying for, honest

ballin_arellano559 Yes! I had my first go around with P4 about 3 years ago and I now consider it my favorite game of all time. Funny seeing as how when I first saw it I thought I'd hate it. it just looked weird to me and while I like I dealt with them, turn based RPGs weren't really my favorite. This game changed it all, though. It's a masterwork, honestly.

Blake Fasse Sony traded the OLED screen for the LCD to conserve battery life on the Slim. The original had about 4 1/2 Hours of battery on a full charge, whereas the Slim has around 7 Hours.

***** It has a very strong Japanese-esque feel to it, as you are playing a Japanese high school student. It's really part dungeon crawler part social-sim. It's quite expansive.

I bought the PS Vita solely for this game last weekend. I loved Persona 3 FES, and I had to continue with the series on my new Vita. Best decision I've ever made.

Its still one of the best vita games out there.
Trust me I'm not either but theres a little twist on the turn based mechanic in the persona series called "one more" That and the "all-out attack" really helps spice up the combat and makes it really fun. I do believe that you would enjoy this battle system even if turn based stuff isn't your thing.
Lack of explanation is always a plus, imo. I hate being told how to do this and what to do. The only thing I appreciate is the littlest bit of pointing in the right direction when I'm lost. Other than that? Leave me alone.

this review and greg's and andrew's love for persona won me over to play and love this franchise! this is truly one of the most unique games out there in the gaming space.

The Vita is much much better than people give it credit for. Pick one up used if you have the money for it, if you really truly don't like it then you could just give it back for a refund. If given the chance, why not?

Its kinda a learning curve for the whole "Garu Agi Zio and Bufu" thing though lol. It took me a bit when I first got in the series. I was so used to "Fire Thunder Blizzard and Aero."

The manuals are digital on the game tabs. It's quite nice really.
there's a point in the game where you and your friends acquire a scooter and if you take it around for a ride often, you'll be able to go to okina city, where you can buy outfits for you and your friends.
It just irks me that P4G is not available on PS3. It's the only game that is a must have on Vita for me personally. I know regular Persona4 is on PSN but I want Golden. But I have such mixed feelings on dropping cash for Vita. The struggle
I would even just like to be able to play p4 itself on ps3, goddamn Altus and Europe.
Thankfully I have other things to motivate me to buy a Vita.
Never been a fan of the previous Persona games I had been practically forced to play, but this is the first situation where a few people I actually respect the opinions of have recommended a Persona game, so on the Vita I'm going to give the series one more try.
If I don't like it though, there are still Disgaea 3 and 4 (I have the PS3 version of 4, but why wouldn't I want a portable version?), and there's FFX/FFX-2 HD (once again, have the PS3 version but would love portability), and some decent fighting games and other JRPGs on it.
If your household is a bit more tight on the financial side, then I could understand not getting the Vita, but it seems like a solid handheld to me thus far.
I may hold off on it personally for a short while, just to see if I can get a good read on how the next 1-2 years on the Vita will look like, but I'm close to confident enough to buy one at this point.

It's summer of 2015, and I am still playing this game. Looking back, I seriously bought the both PSVITA's for the sole purpose to play Persona 4 Golden, and have not regret it, though (The screen on the orginal vita is for vivid, I will have to say that the Slim has better confort, and easy to access START, and SELECT buttons that bottered me a lot on the Original, I think I am starting to like the SLIM due to that fact, and would sacrifice the OLED screen for the sake of lightweight, and most of all COMFORT, and EASY ACCESS to START, and SELECT without hurting other fingers just to puss those Super Tiny START, and SELECT buttons.)
i notice that their body posture doesn't change but the face expression does and the p3 characters changes both face and body

I love this game. One of the best among the SMT franchise. Playing this game made me realize how dull my life is, lmao! Seriously though, when I play this game it's as if I entered a different world. It's very immersive. And rarely that happens to me when playing games.

It looks like alternate costumes. Those kinds of shows are mentioned as "live action shows". They even mentioned a show called Featherman. I know there is a real series called "Jetman" with a bird motif. Maybe the characters are dressed as Feathermen? Either way, I'd use those costumes, at least until I found better armor.
Jeez, I have chosen 3DS over VITA, I kind of regret it now... But when DQ will come out, I will feel better for sure.
lol wut? 3ds has much much much better games than the vita will ever have, and the worst part is most of vita's games are remakes and ports, with the only two games on there that are original that I can think of is Dangan Ronpa another episode and Tearaway. Besides, the 3ds is now going to have Smash Bros,Persona Q, and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, (one is a remake buuuuut,better one game than most of the games on the system) so the 3ds is still much better, and with a lower price.

khrimh ah, I almost put those games when someone asks what games I should get for the vita every time. :) also notice how most are ports/anime-ish. I'm just saying (or well NOW I mean) that the 3ds is just the better system of games, if you had to pick out the ports and remakes out you would have few from the ones you chose, while in the 3ds you would have a ton to name. I think you may have misunderstood my comment about the ports (because I see Danganronpa 1 and 2 and Disgaea 3 and 4) or me being stupid because I wrote that comment forever ago.

Well, actually only disgea 3 and 4 are ports but I tried to give you some examples of awesome games on the vita. I think it is time for people to buy the vita, because if you (people) don't do that, don't complain about the fact that it "has no games", those examples I gave you (and there are more: Wipeout, Killzone Mercenary, Everybody's Golf...). I mean, at least, be honest and say that you don't want it, I am not talking about you but about people in general. I had a 3DS and it is a huge disappointment compared to the DS, I had it for more than one year and there was nothing interesting for me, so when they announced the new 3ds I decided to sell it and keep my Vita and I don't regret anything, I love my vita, I have a lot of games to finish (Danaganronpa 2 and Ys memories of celceta for the moment). It is really a shame, I am not saying that the 3DS doesn't deserve its success, but there are awesome games on the vita that most of people don't even know, I think that the vita is worth buying just for Tearaway, that game is one of the best games I've played in these last 10 years. Sorry if my english is not good, I live in France ^^.

But it is region locked Of course, if you live in the US, that's ok, but, if you live in Europe it's not I wanted to play Shin Migami Tensei IV but I can only by buying the digital version and there is a retail version only in the US, not here in Europe And guess what? The game is not even translated in french, if it was the same on the vita, like last year with Muramasa, I could just import a copy from the US but I can't with this region lock system.
Bought a Vita over this alone, no regrets.

It just so happens a lets player known as SuperJeenius is playing this game currently. He's like 30 hours in, and going for max social links, books, sidequests, etc. It's pretty much the best lets play of persona 4 golden available.
I suggest you go there if you'd like to watch it. He's not as well known as pewdiepie, but he's often doing other stuff with well known lets players like chuggaaconroy, nintendocaprisun, protonjon, etc.
ALWAYS make sure you've got enough Persona to cover all elements.
Then use the enemies weak element to beat them easily. That's what I usually do.

That's what I did. Completely worth every penny. Though I am mad they did not give it a 10. That's what it is for me.

Is it wrong to have appreciation for both systems? I've been neglecting my Vita for a long time, but I'm finally getting back into it.
I'm glad someone else agrees with me. Every dungeon felt unique, and the boss fights themselves felt personal, because it was a physical manifestation of someone's inner shadow, rather than just some random monster that appears every month. And just the whole concept of a paranormal murder mystery was so new and refreshing. And Tartarus...... ugh...... kill me, please.

I wish they ported it to the 3DS, or at least the PS4. I don't even care if the graphics are the same, I just want to play it without buying another console, because I loved 4, and this looks amazing.

They might remake it for PS4. That would really be the only chance. Or, just a direct port. But to remake it, it would take a WHILE. Because the game is pretty long and pretty expansive. But it isn't Impossible. Not likely, but not 0%.

I can see what you mean but KH specifically KH:DAYS Birth By Sleep and KH:3D really got to me. The thing is the Disney character were only shoved in your face in the console versions. The handheld versions on other hand seemed to feature them and their worlds but it was more about the KH characters. I hope KH: 3 follows the example of handheld versions. Also I really wish they'd remake Nocturne for VIta.

No not really. Each game is basically it's own story, but Persona 3 and 4 do take place in the same universe, and there are easter eggs hinting at Persona 3 in Persona 4.

if you are enjoying persona 4 and have finished it, you should give them a try!
***** persona 1 and 2 do take place in the same universe as 3 and 4 just that they are pretty much neglected and only referenced in persona 3 in a tiny bit
Finished this game about a week ago. Played it SINCE RELEASE. Its amazing how much content there is in the game. And I still havent seen it all, I am going for a New Game+, the first time ever on an RPG
It's Featherman R or something in the games, you can buy the costumes.
