All very well said. I admire your dedication to the kilt and the culture it grew from.

Oooof...Pintrest and "men in kilts" is more for the ladies! And how far back did they have to dig for those pics of Ian?

The jacket I personally would love to have is a tweed fabric in a Wallace (modern, 3 button, plain cuff) cut, leather patched elbows, shoulders & ticket pocket... Sort of like an upland bird shooting coat, but cut for a kilt... With a shawl-collared, 5 button, 3 pocket matching vest (waistcoat) with a scalloped (rounded) bottom

When you guys start sending out the R'leh tartan, PLEASE do a video on putting to gather an early 20th century professor look. A nod to the Miscatonic University.

I don’t care as much about the look, I just prefer the comfort of a kilt. Total freedom of movement and temperature control.

Well, I like causual, with tweed, a bit historical, and fantasy.

I normally wear a European look which is unusual here in the States. So my kilt "look" is more of the country gentleman. HRH Prince Charles and Prince Philip are my inspirations.
My biggest research items were my sporran (a hunter similar to Charles) and my boots (custom Balmoral style)

I think the thing that's hardest for me to figure out is footwear. With jeans, I normally wear black motorcycle boots or sneakers. Shorts get sneakers or flip flops. Khakis get low hiking shoes or Doc Martin's or my boots. I've been mostly wearing sneakers or flip flops with my kilt which is fine to run out to the mailbox but doesn't seem quite right for going out, even in a t-shirt. I've got hose I've never worn because I can't figure out my footwear

I wear black leather walking shoes ( usually from Wal Mart but more expensive would probably be better ) almost all the time . They are comfortable and look good for just about any occasion other than full dress . I think sneakers / running shoes don't look as good with highland wear but that is just my opinion . It really boils down to what you feel comfortable with yourself .

Depending upon your finances, I would suggest Balmoral style similar to mine. Erik, in an earlier video, made a strong argument for Victorian/Edwardian era boots and mine look fabulous with kilt, suit, or jeans.

This is a matter of curiosity for me here in the UK. How easy is it for you to get leather Jacobite waistcoats over there? I am going to Ayr in August and will look for one there as the ones offerred online somehow don't cut it for me and I have looked at stores in London and the selection is too small.
It may be that in the USA it is not a popular item, but that seems to be the case on this side of the pond.

We could probably source one from our tailor in Glasgow, but we've never had a request for one before.

@@USAKiltsOfficial Yes I was wondering if any such garments are actually made in the USA, no doubt there are cheap knock offs from China. As I said they don't seem to be popular over here but may juhst be unknown.

I always wondered why people wear their kilt backwards, I dont understand, maybe they did that to use the toilet and forgot to switch it around, maybe they did it while driving and forgot to turn it back around, or maybe they were told to do that while visiting the royal mile, I will never understand it

I think I stole Eric's style, I purchased the sterling tartan casual kilt and I match that with black boots, black hose, black shirt, and a black linen flat cap. My dream out fit is definitely a great kilt, red and green. Along with that a linen poet shirt with a bonnet and seal skin sporran, seal skin moccasins, and highland hose cut on the bias.

I just bought that kilt and have buyer's remorse. My other kilt's, having multiple colors can be accessorized many ways but with this kilt you're pretty much stuck with one look.

@@ronaldmcrae4896 yes and no, you can always pair it with white, grey, and black, it would look odd with any other colors, but that's when your other kilts come into play
