I was going to take it down fully, edit out that section and re-upload but I realised that that's dumb. I haven't done anything wrong. So we're going with this instead. I've put timestamps so you can skip ahead of the talk easily if you want to BUT if you do watch it and you have something to say, I'd appreciate it if you'd read the following before commenting just so I can make some things clear! 1. At the time of filming this, I was unaware that ETA had been performed at the fanmeeting and showed that there was nothing to worry about in the song itself. I do now know that and I'm very very glad and relieved 2. Regarding the controversy itself, as far as I understand it didn't have anything to do with the title being ETA in and of itself. Everyone knows that on its own, it stands for "Estimated Time of Arrival". The issue was the fact that for one of the promotional materials for it, the title was displayed along with 3 names that matched 3 individuals way involved in the terrorist organisation ETA. That was where questions were coming up. And I can't blame people for thinking it was a bit dodgy. That's one hell of a coincidence. Thankfully, it absolutely seems that it was just a coincidence but still, people need to stop assuming others were making up the controversy just based on the title 3. About me actually bringing up the controversy in the first place: like I said, I wasn't aware that it had been resolved at the time. As always with these kinds of things I try and approach them with the utmost sensitivity which is exactly what I tried to do here. I was not negative towards the girls at all. I simply just brought it up, said where I stood in that moment and left it at that (in my waffling kind of way). I would very much appreciate it if people would not jump down *my* throat for bringing it up. I understand it's frustrating when your fave has constant controversy thrown at them but it's not my fault. I was just being cautious and at the end of the day, I'd rather be typing out a message like this than say nothing and there actually being some problem with ETA Apologies for the long comment but it was clearly necessary with the way some people were acting. From now on, any comments that aren't civil and understanding regarding this whole situation will be deleted. Let's focus on the songs and the mvs and now that the difficulty is out of the way, let's enjoy the build up to what is almost certainly gonna be another absolute winner of a track from New Jeans. super shy was made in my country Portugal!! i was so shocked when i saw it cause it's rare for us to get any "kpop world attention" it looks amazing, it really shows portugal's culture, i feel proud :') and the song is very catchy
Ok just pls don’t listen to those ppl saying stupid things about terrorist. They have performed the song eta in Korea in 1st and 2nd of July. I have also listened AND checked all the lyrics, it just has nothing to do with those delusional fantasies. 🙄 Edit: the song is still about their girl crush concept

I love the song but the controversy is not about it and neither the concept of the new EP. It's about the marketing team behind the teaser of ETA, that is just a bad way to call attention of people. Same happened with cookie. I love newjeans but some people inside that company are just evil. Anyway, if people want to believe that it's coincidence I think "good" but at the same time if some people say that it's not coincidence I can also understand their thoughts and agree with them
I love that they’ve stuck with their sound. One of my biggest complaints with other groups (i am a stan of many lol) is the massive contrasts you get between releases. The consistency of NewJeans and the specific vibe they’ve got going is exactly why I think they’re so loved 😭
its a sound very reminiscent of early 2000s UK Soulful House/Garage. If you are from the uk you know the sound..new jeans sounds like it could be from an artful dodger album (an early 2000s uk garage band)
Adding a second comment about the “controversy”. They performed ETA at their fan meeting and the lyrics are so far from what people were suggesting in the “controversy” stuff. And in the Super Shy video, we see a couple arguing twice and I’d bet money they are two of the three people mentioned on the title card for ETA lol. It’s about a guy getting caught being a jerk to two girls.
Those who attended their fan meeting already watch the ETA song, me included. It is not what those 'controversy' talked about. It so far from the truth. ETA stands for estimated time arrival, yeah a simple and common words but somehow someway some people keep trying to twist it to hurt the girls and their team. It is so tiring to have to read all this everytime. Oh and btw the company, Ador already taking step in suing them. Anyway thats what i know about all of this newest controversy. Lets enjoy their comeback togethers.
i mean we got the whole eta song already and it's confirmed people just made up the controversy so i don't know why people are still talking about it lol it's so disrespectful to the girls who worked extremely hard to prepare this comeback and the fan meeting. wish people would stop associating them with a literal hate/t3rrorist group over a song name which is an extremely common acronym all over the world

They did their pre debut release with Attention on July 22nd(that’s why they’re releasing the album on Friday July 21st, because the 22nd will be Saturday), and their “official” debut with cookie and the album release on August 1
10:24 they shot that here in Portugal, more specifically in Lisbon. The songs were great imo, Newjeans can't miss. Agree with you regarding the controversy. We all know MHJ is not a saint, but if the references were intentional or just an unfortunate accident, I'm not sure. We know people like jumping to a definite decision right away, but sometimes, specially in cases where it can just be a coincidence, we might need to take some more info and look at it later

New Jeans is a group that I know are good, there are songs that I like, but I'm not sold as a true fan. Aside from Ditto, I don't think there has been that one song that made me absolutely sold on them. BUT I say this knowing they are a great group and they deserve the fans they have. BUT yeah, Super Shy wasn't a second Ditto for me. It's on par with NMIXX's Rollercoaster, I think. It's fine, not going to change the world. I do feel it carries on the sound NewJeans have been doing, but once again it isn't the song that made me go "okay, I'm officially a fan." Maybe they'll change with the actual comeback? As for now, Kiss of Life has stolen my heart on this debut/comeback rotation.
honestly i love newjeans. they are GREAT, instant CLASSICS with a genius creative team behind them. But min he jin *is* very dodgy , no doubt about that. She is great at her work, but very very sketchy. The promotional material was no coincidence nor was the cookie lyrics it is all shook marketing that THEY DONT EVEN NEED. tokkis should be mad at them not you.
