The merger doesn't scare me because cedar fair is pretty much the ones in charge, not the six flags people. There have already been changes at six flags parks that align more with cedar fair.
I took my Cedar Point one to KI this weekend. The park was closed Friday due to weather and it rained all day/night Saturday so there were no outdoor scare activities or outdoor shows the whole day and limited outdoor shows on Sunday (as it misted off and on) . About a 3rd of the lantern activation points I tried did nothing (and I was pointing it the correct way after finally determining how to do it). The rain or overuse may have broken several of them. This sadly includes the one that was mentioned on the Bat's path. I also saw several in the video that I did not know about (including the one that changed the eyes on the tower). The map was not very clear as to where they were and for serveral of them I walked around the generally big area that the icon showed on the map and never found the activation point. I found a few of these on Sunday, but I had left the lantern in the car Sunday as that was a ride day. Hopefully, they will work next year and I can make a return trip on a better weather weekend.
As an adult, I never had a season pass to Kings Island. Now, thanks to listening to this podcast and constantly thinking about KI stuff, I am a Prestige holder. Same thing with these lanterns. After hearing you guys talk about them, the last couple of shows, I'm definitely buying one. Kings Island owes you guys some cash lol.
I was told by someone at CP that the lanterns will work at the other parks that have them. So if you get a lantern, and go to CP from KI or whatever, you don't have to buy multiple lanterns.
Kings Dominion got these as well this year. I'm loving that they are doing this cool item. I'm curious if they make more interactive stuff for regular park days, like maybe they kind of make their own harry potter wand kind of experience but many something for the Flash or DC IP. Imagine getting DC flare like cool props that give you superhero powers.
I'm with Ryan on the Lanterns enhance the haunt experience. My son and I go every night Haunt is open he loves the Lanterns experience. As a dad, i've spent more than $40 on crap that he plays with for a few days and then never plays with it again. This Lantern he uses as a night light. The best Tricks or Treat Lantern trigger is back in Area 72, unlike haunt, it has a sound that builds and builds, followed by no spoiler a funny sound that had me my son and everything standing around cracking laughing. As for the durability, my son dropped ours twice and it still works. I'm glad they didn't do an app for you phone to interact with items.
For the daytime Madame Fatals they want you to have the lanterns on interactive mode as there are points during the "tour" that work with them. Also there are a couple of spots in the line that interact with the lantern.
Here is my only thing about the lanterns. If you are somebody who likes to ride rides then what would you do with the lantern while you ride? It seems to me like you would probably almost have to buy a locker just in order to be able to ride anything because you would be packing that lantern around and you can't take anything on a lot of the rides... Particularly coasters.
@@TowerTopics Hey Ryan and Don... We need an episode speculating about what we think are the most likely models to fill the Vortex plot. I thought a Vekoma tilt would be sweet (considering that plot's history of holding "first of it's kind" rides with the Bat, and then the first six inversion coaster)... Obviously Cedar Point just stuck a pin in that 😂. I sure do think a Custom S&S Axis would be a nice fit.
I don’t think they are available online. At least I never saw them on there personally. I would just grab them at the park so you can use the pass discount. Plus they haven’t been selling out or anything.
Eh. It's an idea. I give them credit for trying. I think eventually it will be interesting. But the interactions to us simply aren't worth the price. In fairness we feel the same about Disney's magic band +.
I feel like this does more than MB+. To each their own, but it’s something fun and different and doesn’t interfere with the Haunt experience. I agree, though, at least you can give them credit for trying something new.

Good show guys. I think the lantern sounds interesting. I'll probably get one for the kid.

We are going Saturday. I may get one. Wasn't going to, but it actually sounds pretty cool. Now I really can't wait for winterfest.

My wife got the biggest kick out of you telling the story about holding the door for her at the Coke freestyle. Thanks Mr beast!!
Make sure you buy my candy bars, Feastables! 😆
my only issue would be storing it if you want to do rides. Oh and no i do not want to rent a locker.

I m not sure if u get one. As I m only at haunt for a Friday and Saturday

Main reason why I haven't gotten one yet
100% true. Kind of the same with the refillable water drink bottles. Unless you have a stroller or a non-rider, you are inviting an up-charge.

Looking for lanterns on the KI website and the KI online store... they are nowhere to be found!! Are they still available online? 😮🎉

They can be ordered (and ultimately picked up at the park) here: cf-ki.store.cffunki.com/packageDetails/10084173/keyword/lantern

My wife makes fun of me for watching this stupid podcast 😂
