The girl who is in the Wiggles in the black pointes is also in the Australian ballet. She's one of the first Aboriginal Australian dancers in the company-and the first Aboriginal Australian Wiggle!.
I had goosebumps after That performance where the ballerina was saved by her parter. Every muscle was aching and she pulled it off…so professional. Bravo
I am with Josephine on the whole kicking your leg out while trying to pick up something and I never have taken ballet a day in my life. I must have just been a ballerina in a past life or something 😂😂😂
it really is easier! the leg is like a counterweight to your torso so you don't have to work as hard to straighten back up! i am a disabled former dancer and i don't kick my leg up super high or anything but i totally use that trick to save effort when i have to bend over.
I know how much hard, hard work goes into ballet. And children at that age should not work hard. And if anyone comes now and tells me it's what they all want and it's not the parents whipping them through it to have their own ego and vanity satisfied: I know those parents. I know how little time those children have to be children. It's not cute and it's the opposite of wholesome.
@@inkenhafner7187 That's a fair criticism. I'll admit my perspective is skewed by my own experiences with dancing as a child, which were not in a studio or competitive context, so in my memory, it feels fun and joyful. That said, I agree, children shouldn't work hard, especially on shaping their bodies for exacting standards like there are in ballet. Thank you for your thoughts on this, I appreciate the different perspective.
Actually, could you get those pointe-style heels and do a comparison between their construction and actual pointe shoes?! I think that would be really cool!
All the things I have learned here that nobody ever told me when I danced (1953-1963) the knowledge of which might have kept me from so much pain and having to quit something I loved so much.
Those ballet inspired heels are very cute! I've seen many variations from many different brands and they also come in flat from other brands (I have two pairs of the flat ones) and that's how you do a ballet inspired outfit without injuring yourself. I understand the appeal of balletcore aesthetically, in this way you're not risking your physical integrity or coming across as insulting to dancers.
I play roller derby and since I can't skate with socks on, I started wearing ouch pouches/silicone toe pads and my left one is CHEWED UP lol.. Not a dancer but STILL so relatable
Evie Ferris from The Wiggles (Initially A Blue Wiggle, but now more comfortably The Yellow Wiggle - with traditional red and black stripes) seen dancing in a gorgeous yellow tutu and her trademark black pointe shoes is an incredibly talented and proud Taribelang and Djiabugay woman. She is 26 and has been a member of The Australian Ballet since she was 17, having previously attended The Australian Ballet School International Training Program from age 12, along with her sister Ella. Evie is creative in all aspects of the arts and is a huge advocate for the visibility and inclusion indigenous children and young people in ballet and the performing arts.
Oh, the short of Oleg dancing in Mariinsky theatre here, 1:23, with fake arches! Thank a lot! I adore his 'eto zhe alek' channel. And waiting for the next episode of your sincere reactions!
I had to laugh at the picking up keys one as I do the extreme dancer pick up, but I'm not a dancer, lol. I'm just a very flexible mid 40s woman that wanted to be a dancer as a kid but my mom told me that the teacher of the few classes I took at around 5 or 6 years old said I was as graceful as an elephant. 🤨 Thanks Mom for the confidence boost.
I've got a spine injury which has affected my left leg. I'm not a dancer, but it really IS easier to bend down to pick up stuff from the floor on one leg with the other one stretched behind me 😅 Maybe not pointed at the ceiling, but I totally get what you mean.
Couldn't say for sure, but the only story I can think of that would require such a dapper looking Donkey would be Shakespeare's Midsummer's Night Dream. Puck turns an annoying actor named Bottom into a donkey, and Queen Titania of the fairies is love potioned into falling in love with him. I checked, there is a ballet adaptation...so probably? But it could be something else.
Looks like rehearsal for the Royal Ballet production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. If so, that's definitely a "bro" a Josephine said it. Bottom is played by a male dancer en pointe.
Definitely A Midsummer Night's Dream. I remember when it was first being produced, there were videos on youtube of Bottom's dancer preparing to dance en pointe
OMG I KNEW IT! I read about the male ballet dancer who would play Bottom and he would wear pointe (point? Masculine??) shoes to simulate hooves. Told my former dance teacher about it and she *refused* to believe me - I feel so VINDICATED!!
I'm not a dancer and never have been would love to have learned before my back gave out. But I do the leg l ift when I bend over to get stuff pretty often.
Girl. You're have a point. 'Cause bending over to pick something of the floor is horrible for the back. Some dancers are not so cautious about theirs bodies.
The donkey is Bottom from Frederick Ashton's "The Dream", based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was one of, if not the first ballet in which a man dances on pointe.
Hi joseqhine because summer we are going to Miami and i am getting my first pair of point shoes¡ I have been your fan for a loooong time have ballet have been my life and im 11 years old but i know you are on California😢😢sending love from México 🇲🇽
congrats! if im not mistaken I believe she's gone to Miami for diff events etc u never know u can see if she'll be there already doing fittings? or she does online fittings too. im not sure how they work but just putting it out there in case it might helpful. good luck!
I remember seeing a video of the donkey mask dancer on the English Royal Ballet's channel a few years ago. It's the role of Bottom frrom A Midsummer Nights dream. Another role from the Royal Ballet that combines tap and ballet is the Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland originated by Steven McRae (the same production where the queen of hearts is in a massive wheel around heart)
Funny thing my father knew the wiggles he didn’t know them like on a personal level but he worked with them a few times not in the show like production he works in the TV industry. So when I saw that wiggles tiktok I was like 👀 That aside I loveeee your videos and watch them whenever I can❤ keep up the hard work!
is the one with all the woodwinds in the studio ( 1:49 ) at interlochen???? i took ballet classes there as my elective during summer camp and did not like them
I love ballet but I haven't done it since I was 6. They tried to force flexibility on us(think of the videos where little girls are crying being forced to stretch in an abusive way and that's when I quit). Would it be possible for an adult with poor hip mobility to get back into it for for fun? I'm have hyper mobility everywhere else.
Of course you can still do ballet! I myself started ballet when I was 16 with no flexibility or any experience. I'll have to admit that it took some time to find the right ballet studio, but I would advice to just go for it. There are many great dancers in my class in their 30s to 40s, who never took ballet before.
Absolutely! like the above comment says it may take time to find the right studio but there's many adult classes that allow you to do it for fun. I'd also recommend Kathryn Morgan's channel, Josephine just did another video w her she's such a sweetheart n amazing teacher. she has a ton of videos for all different experience levels. they might be fun for you to do while you're looking for a studio. ☺ lots of luck!
The donkey is the character named Bottom from a A Midsummer Night's Dream. If you've never seen it.... it's so pretty to look at.. So dreamy. I think that costume is actually the one that the Royal uses.
My son did three solid years of daily wiggles when gorgeous Emma the ballerina was a part of them. I’m not a dancer at all but we all were during those few years haha
I love these videos so much I've just been binge watching all of these during the summer haha. I just had a question bc this is something that i've been struggling with for a long time and it is really putting a dent in my progress for pointe. I suffered from an ankle sprain a while back and I let it go untreated for a while and when I finally went to a physiotherapist, he gave me some exercises that helped get my strength back. One of the exercises were raises and releves. It helped strengthen my ankle, however I notice now that when I do a releve or try to point my foot, there is often a pain. The pain is in my anterior tendon area. Does anyone have any tips, this would be greatly appreciated!
I totally understand the struggle of finding tiny pointe shoes. I wear a uk size 1. Not sure on other countries sizes. Think that's a 33 euro . But that's my feet as an adult, do I had to find a shoe for an adult doing ballet but in tiny. Luckily I found Fuzi.
I love how these have gone from "let's traumatize josephine with cups" to "melt her heart with children and ballerinos so she can be happy"
Lol so true
But also sneak cups in occasionally to keep her on her toes 👀
I'm new here, what's the cups thing?
@@RavenSutcliffe people put plastic cups in there feet and put socks over top and act like there point shoes (as a joke)

those little polish ballerinas made me tear up THEYRE SO FREAKING CUTE 😭😭😭😭
I always panic cuz I can’t tell if they are on pointe or not

Has Josephine reacted to Bianca's "Ballet dancers in hip hop class" shorts yet? They're hilarious
Yes

I also do this and I have also never danced, it's like a counterbalance lol
I do that too, or the frog position (I'm also not a ballerina) 😂
Nomination: a special edition of reactions to only cute wholesome stuff, like tiny ballerinas ❤
And dogs dancing a choreographed dance with their humans.

Loved that dancer at the end of her performance, the way her partner stepped up and looked after her.
That’s Isabella Boylston. She’s a principal dancer at ABT.😊
The ballerina from the wiggles is Evie Ferris she’s from The Australian Ballet and is one of the yellow wiggles! She’s so incredible
Came here to rep Evie too.
She’s a national treasure! ☺️
And Emma did ballet and Irish step dance. They pick some talented people to be Wiggles.

How are these teeny tiny dancers so good! Adorable 😄
I'm not a ballet dancer and I lift my leg to pick things up. It really is easier. 😅
I do that a lot too. I have to remind myself not to in public.
