Keep in mind that he also makes use of the HP stat which means a lot of the pieces you farmed for other units (since the wind set is kinda broken and is really strong for most supports in the game) can go on him. Its usually the case for HP units, but still nice to find somewhere to put those pieces that were previously almost perfect.

@@derbionatorstyle3421 Yes you are right that the set is optimal for Destruction characters and supports will be wanting the new set probably as well. However, up till right now that's what people have been doing. So new farming will convert over to that, but right now those that were focusing on the wind set will be able to use it for right now. The switch won't be instant and it will also depend on whether they want to optimize one character when they have a usable set ATM or if they want to get more character online. The latter is the likely case and people will circle back to this once they have rounded out rosters.

Honestly love blade's design its so cool and seems very interactive to play, pretty bad auto play wise but if you're controlling the game it feels fun. It's like always being on edge trying to manage his health but at the same time seeing big damage numbers in a flashy animation way. I'm actually curious on how they gonna deal with kafka now, I just realize how underwhelming she would be if her attack doesn't crit DOT damage after seeing blade
No doubt he's going to be a popular character to get both for gameplay meta and husbando reasons. Now it remains to be seen how his sales would be affected by having Kafka just right around the corner.
@@bazah23 actually I've loved DoT ever since I used hook and sampo in the simulated universe. I know that SU makes everything easier but it still opened my eyes to how useful DoT can be. You should try a DoT focused team at least once just to be sure. There's no point in getting a hot character if you never use them.
Blade is definitely a character I'll be getting on his rerun (and also Silver Wolf). I wasn't too keen on his character at first since we barely saw him up until this update, but now he's slowly growing on me. If Kafka literally wasn't the next banner, I would've tried pulling, but I have been locked onto Kafka since first sight. The only reason I let myself get Jing Yuan was 'cause I knew I'd have time to save up for guaranteed Kafka.
The thing I like about blade vs hu tao is that blade doesn’t suffer from healing and being at full HP like hu tao does, because his dmg is simply based on HP lost and not current HP which was making me unsure if I rather pull for him or kafka, I currently have seele and was looking for a multi target DPS so winning on 50/50 was a truly a blessing!!
Watching this as of february 2024, and god, some of the things you said sent shivers down my spine. But this held up suprisingly well, Seele is still an extremely good character and Blade is useful as a sub DPS in Jingliu comps, just that you now use a tank *or* a healer not a tank and maybe a healer
I use blade as my tank/sub dps and add a hunt as my burst dmg it's suprisingly very effective cuz blade aoe is so nice to chunk summon while ny hunt can take out the main boss (i swap around depending on weakness)
I really love how every character feels so mechanically distinct, even when sharing the same path. Hell, we got two preservation ice characters who even feel extremely different. I can see future design space for other characters, like maybe a stance shifting destruction or more that give you an ult choice like the destruction trailblazer, or skill stack like qingque, or an HP draining destruction, and more Maybe also another nihility that inflicts an omni-weakness, but with the catch of only for one or some other fixed number of attacks. I adore the mechanical designs so far.
Maaaan I wish we knew more about 5 star Dan Heng so I could know if it's worth it to grab Blade or keep saving for him. I've been saving for 5☆Dan Heng since he was leaked but I'm so tempted for Blade now
both have different playstyles as blade barely uses skill points while IL uses a lot of skill points. Pull for whoever you like and make your decisions with your current characters in mind. IL is also imaginary and there is no imaginary dps atm so pulling him will also bring a lot of value.
Dan heng IL is very points hungry in order to do his maximum dmg (iirc he can consume up to 4 skill points on a single of his turn) so if you dont have a very skill point free team to use him with that's going to be his major drawback

I flat out disagree with the statement at 1:50 and I find it hilarious that Gepard was one of the examples used. VERY EARLY ON (literally first few days of full release) people knew Gepard can solo sustain a whole team and that pairing a healer with Gepard is overkill. That set the precedent that the strongest teams will be ones that can get away with one sustain unit. Now we have Luocha, who is basically the Abundance equivalent of Gepard. We know for a fact he can solo sustain teams in all end game content. Bailu also makes a close second to Luocha, with her also being known for being able to solo sustain. People have even found Natasha can solo sustain until very late MoC. I don't think there was ever a time where people thought having two defensive units in a team would be optimal. People knew since the beta days that we will likely only have one defensive unit per team, so I find this statement blatantly false and purely based on conjecture.
Isn't that just for the first few days though? Since we're talking about meta, then the MOC is probably the reference here and people realized after like 2 weeks that Gepard can't solo sustain in MOC without his sig lightcone, especially if you're F2P and lacks good relics on him. Even with his taunt and an ER rope, you'll still need to use his skill to get his ult back (which we don't really want since we prefer non-damage-focused characters to be SP-positive). It doesn't help that he has a low speed compared to the hunt characters he's mostly trying to protect. Some hunt characters have something which causes them to gain speed buffs too so they might even lose their shield sooner than expected. Also, one of the most common duos in-game is literally FireTB-Natasha. A lot of people considered them to be perfect together and will save your team if you're F2P. If you also looked at teams' usage rates, some of the teams with higher usage rates even used both Gepard and Natasha. While people who actually know how to manage their characters agree that Luocha can self-sustain, even he got hate that he won't be able to sustain the team without a tank due to his low defense.

I have a feeling this guys will be good in the long run considering how HP and DEF can help a ton since we cant dodge, and his self healing along with a healer will do wonders. This guy can take so many hits despite being so low on HP most of the time.

i have been saving for both blade and kafka and i haven't rolled since the very beginning. I was chilling on 230 summons by the time blade rolled around with guarantee on first 5 star. I will also get kafka cuz the chance of getting 70 more summons in half a month is pretty high.

I feel clara doesnt really play the same role as blade, you can run her with another main dps and be fine because clara has her ult to attract attacks and damage reduction with the added bonus that her counter is very strong while blade would act more as a main dps. I dont have her but my brother does and id have to imagine she just synergizes with different characters
They're kinda similiar. Main carry Clara? Yes here we go. Luocha Clara Yukong Tingyun, currently my go to team i can even auto last MoC 10 with 5 cycle. i even try Duo Clara Luocha herta shop lightcone E1 and non signature luocha and still clear albeit it slow like 11 cycle. Can also use sub dps/hybrid clara which i personally only use for farming as she just like blade is sp efficient even on auto.
How I'd like to summarize Destruction Path Not as Prone of getting killed like Hunt Deals more damage than Erudition and sometimes even easier Follow Ups While having almost the same durability like Preservation or Longevity of Abundance depending on the Unit
I’m skipping Imbibitor Lunae but I get a feeling I will love destruction characters due to their unique mechanism and high damage. I also get a feeling they will be expensive since they require specific teams to unlock their full potential 😂
I'm saving for the quantum tank, will pull a little bit if I could snipe Kafka, even though I have no team for her.. Also I'm not doing moc, so not really pressured on getting meta units.. May all Blade wanters get him
the only thing that stops me from getting him is that his light cone options are too niche lol, even Clara's lightcone sucks when put on him so you have two only options
@@kaizerk4321t kind of because Clara benefit from almost every stats outside of effect hit rate. She is the tank so hp and def are great, she is a dps so ATK, CD, CR, Break effect, speed are great. She just work well with any stats.

I regret not getting Luocha. I wanted to get Blade, Kafka and IL Dan Heng, but well…that’s 3 5 stars in a row. I’ll definitely be saving for his rerun though, and then I’ll have an easier time mowing down enemies, the only difference being that I would now have serviceable artifacts.
I used 40+ pulls on him and only got a Bronya Eidolon. Now I don't know if I should just guarantee Blade or Inhibitor Lunae. I'm depressed cuz it's the first 50/50 I've lost in this game. At least it's a really OP Eidolon but still. Red Flag daddy
Blade can go toe to toe with Seele in single target Blade surpasses Jing Yuan in multi target Blade uses 0.25 Skill points a turn Blade can function really well as both a sub and main DPS Blade is literally a jack of all trades, master of all, lol
He is! I still don't regret Jing Yuan at all, but man Blade is super fun and strong to use. His playstyle also gets super exciting, especially since you want to be hit.
Since im planning to pull for kafka and i have already seele and her weapon who are extremely busted and also clara that can fulfill the same role as blade i won't be pulling for him. ( All hail kafka ) it also seems like destruction character for the most part seem to have hp based mechanics apart from hook, that differenciates them from other dps ( clara that needs to get attacked and counters, blade that sacrifices his hp, arlan same, and jingliu soon for those who keep up with leaks )
I realy like Blade's overall design as a playable character. It's not the most optimal while doing auto-play due to his HP mechanic, but otherwise he's great- he's got damage and sustain. The latter is in the form of Hp-scaling and self-heal. Combined with another powerful healer, and he's pretty much a great DPS character! And as mentioned in this video, his passive talent's AoE targets all enemies making him a pseudo Erudition character. Speaking of character designs though, I had to admire the "Light Cone" weapon system of HSR since it means they can get creative with weapon choices. Case in point would be Clara's Svarog, Gepard's Guitar Case-Shield thing, and Quingque with what appears to be Mahjong tiles.
I feel he has a lot of potential to scale with future characters as his mechanics are varied but still accessible to the team. Even if he's not providing support directly to other characters its not crazy to think we'll get characters that cause team damage in exchange for their effects or have effects that trigger when the team is damaged, benefitting Blade or off of him beyond the base numbers each provide. This potential to build a team greater than the sum of its characters is sort of missing from most of our current damage dealers. At best characters with follow-up attacks are providing extra actions which can trigger effects like we see with Loucha's field, but its so generic a benefit it doesn't make any of them particularly special.
I'm getting the whole stellaron hunter crew no matter what. I thought of skipping him to guarantee Fu Xuan but playing the main story made me pull in the end
I'll try pulling for him, since Luocha did took a ton of my pulls (86 for those who are curious), currently used 20 pulls so hopefully I get him He does remind me of Emiya Kiritsugu from Fate in term of look and design, beside he looks good
I am incredibly conflicted. On one hand I like how he plays (from the trial and general discussions) and I need a wind unit. On the other hand I really do not like his character at all and mommy Kafka is around the corner, just as you said.
I just have a feeling, just based off knowing how Hu Tao works... Blade is basically future proof. He may not be the best, but he'll ALWAYS be a solid dps regardless due to his scaling. Hu tao even now is solid and she came out around the same time in the game's lifespan.
i wish he had a dedicated support bc he could easily well not go back to being the best in the game but rise up to dhil/jingliu level potentially it's crazy to see how good blade was back then but now he's fallen out of the meta completely bc of smth easily fixable i'm watching this before jade's release tho maybe she'll be exactly what blade needs

Sooooo Blade is pretty fun to play around with. He can solo a couple of things too if built correctly for the fight and you can almost ignore building up attack entirely in favor of just super pumping him full of hp% this bad boi can easily reach over 10k hp and STILL dish out unreal damage on a literal tank build. 😅

The only real difference between hunt and destruction is speed vs survivability. Hunt characters are quicker with higher base speeds and tend to claim extra turns. Destruction characters compensate for the lack of extra turns and speed by having slight AoE and enhancing their ability to survive like blades limited healing and clara ult reducing damage from attacks on her. So basically flash vs hulk. Both are pretty much equally as strong your picking between speed and beef.
I also really like the ideas behind his design and the extra thought behind team making, but this isnt genshin. Fun factor is barely a thing when combat consists of picking one of two options and timing an ultimat. So Ill only go for characters that I like or characters that enable the ones I like. He's not my type and while neither is Kafka, my boi Sampo would appreciate the buff.

Give Honey Hunter a bit of time and then you should be able to look up his kit

@@kaizerk4321t kind of because Clara benefit from almost every stats outside of effect hit rate. She is the tank so hp and def are great, she is a dps so ATK, CD, CR, Break effect, speed are great. She just work well with any stats.
He looks like an awesome and pretty fun character to play with, definitely the first i'll be looking for a rerun, sadly all my savings rn are going for kafka, gotta spend it all on the DOT queen

I regret not getting Luocha. I wanted to get Blade, Kafka and IL Dan Heng, but well…that’s 3 5 stars in a row. I’ll definitely be saving for his rerun though, and then I’ll have an easier time mowing down enemies, the only difference being that I would now have serviceable artifacts.

i have both gepard and seele but i cant run her with gepard because she burns through the entire shield in 2 seconds especially with bronya...

He is! I still don't regret Jing Yuan at all, but man Blade is super fun and strong to use. His playstyle also gets super exciting, especially since you want to be hit.

Since im planning to pull for kafka and i have already seele and her weapon who are extremely busted and also clara that can fulfill the same role as blade i won't be pulling for him. ( All hail kafka ) it also seems like destruction character for the most part seem to have hp based mechanics apart from hook, that differenciates them from other dps ( clara that needs to get attacked and counters, blade that sacrifices his hp, arlan same, and jingliu soon for those who keep up with leaks )
I realy like Blade's overall design as a playable character. It's not the most optimal while doing auto-play due to his HP mechanic, but otherwise he's great- he's got damage and sustain. The latter is in the form of Hp-scaling and self-heal. Combined with another powerful healer, and he's pretty much a great DPS character! And as mentioned in this video, his passive talent's AoE targets all enemies making him a pseudo Erudition character.
Speaking of character designs though, I had to admire the "Light Cone" weapon system of HSR since it means they can get creative with weapon choices. Case in point would be Clara's Svarog, Gepard's Guitar Case-Shield thing, and Quingque with what appears to be Mahjong tiles.
I really wanna pull him so I can pair him up with jingliu so I can get that synergy and that ptsd
the tension between him and luocha during a fight is hilarious
I feel he has a lot of potential to scale with future characters as his mechanics are varied but still accessible to the team. Even if he's not providing support directly to other characters its not crazy to think we'll get characters that cause team damage in exchange for their effects or have effects that trigger when the team is damaged, benefitting Blade or off of him beyond the base numbers each provide.
This potential to build a team greater than the sum of its characters is sort of missing from most of our current damage dealers. At best characters with follow-up attacks are providing extra actions which can trigger effects like we see with Loucha's field, but its so generic a benefit it doesn't make any of them particularly special.

Blade is basically future proof. He may not be the best, but he'll ALWAYS be a solid dps regardless due to his scaling. Hu tao even now is solid and she came out around the same time in the game's lifespan.
Can confirm, Hu Tao has been carrying one side on the Abyss for 8 months so far.

Vars, do you have a high quality mic? If not I think it’s time to invest. The airy, bassy timbre of your voice makes it really hard to hear in some speakers, and I think a good mic and good mixing may help there. Anyway, enjoyed the video! I agree that Blade is the Hp drain archetype done right!

I have Seele and bronya, dont have bailu or luocha so im not gonna pull for blade
Sooooo Blade is pretty fun to play around with. He can solo a couple of things too if built correctly for the fight and you can almost ignore building up attack entirely in favor of just super pumping him full of hp% this bad boi can easily reach over 10k hp and STILL dish out unreal damage on a literal tank build. 😅

Blade is a reference to SRX, literally.
The only real difference between hunt and destruction is speed vs survivability. Hunt characters are quicker with higher base speeds and tend to claim extra turns. Destruction characters compensate for the lack of extra turns and speed by having slight AoE and enhancing their ability to survive like blades limited healing and clara ult reducing damage from attacks on her. So basically flash vs hulk. Both are pretty much equally as strong your picking between speed and beef.

I also really like the ideas behind his design and the extra thought behind team making, but this isnt genshin. Fun factor is barely a thing when combat consists of picking one of two options and timing an ultimat. So Ill only go for characters that I like or characters that enable the ones I like. He's not my type and while neither is Kafka, my boi Sampo would appreciate the buff.
The character I would pull for if I had gotten Luocha and Kafka wasn't coming in three weeks.
Even without Loucha Lynx will pair pretty well with Blade and even Clara
