    Holy smokes!!!
    Today I was struggling with my mid irons as I often do. So out of desperation I remembered this video and gave it a try on the fly…. no range practice at all. BAM!!! Like magic! Every club in the bag… BAM!!! Far and high with a draw! I need to see if it works over the course of the next few weeks. But thank you so much for this lesson. I am now an official Saguto believer.

    I am taking up the game again at age 62. I have tried to do this on my own and also with a few lessons. I have also tried watching TH-cam videos to improve shot mechanics. During this time I stumbled upon Seguto golf. In watching these videos the whole swing mechanics were explained and overall it simplified the golf swing. I signed up for the lesson plan and switched over to this Stack and Tilt style. The mechanics seem to be much better on my back and I am hitting them more consistently with perhaps some more distance. The best thing I like is I can troubleshoot the swing as the swing is more simplified to identify swing breakdowns.

    Some of the best advice. Even a slight chop makes for a deficient swing. The shallow swing can correct for problems making for an inconsistent swing. I am going to practice this relentlessly.

    Best tip yet.Only problem is I'm coming out of my swing a bit early sometimes and the ball goes right of my target.Reason is because so used to not sure where my golf ball is going,before I learnt Tom's methods, that I still panic that the golf ball will be going anywhere!!.
    Keep everything in sync and I complete the swing and I have never had so many straight irons and drives.Many thanks.

    I love that you're changing peoples games so much man. I even have a buddy of mine that I golf with, DAVE, trying stuff out that he never did. LIke...weight forward.
    The first time I finally got him to keep his weight on his front, he hit it way more crisp and I could tell by the look on his face that he knew he had been in that desert for way too long.
    He still lifts really high, but I can slowly see him messing with grip and stuff... which it ultimately MAKES you do if you wanna perfect it.
    The only ... and I mean ONLY downfall to doing this... is watching others struggle so bad with the same things I did prior to you.

      Thanks for not keeping it to yourself, Johnny. Your charity will pay dividends!
      When sharing with others, a slow drip is the proper prescription (or, preferably, just send them to the online school where the doses are pre-measured). Weight forward is the best place to start because it provides the most instantaneous positive feedback. Then you can have them slowly incorporate "shoulder down", followed by "hands in", etc...
      As for the "struggle", it only makes the epiphany that much more enjoyable!!

      @SagutoGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fantastic!!
      Just know that it’s the same swing with every club in your bag. There are just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. Also, the progressively widening stance as we move through the longer clubs necessitates that the hips travel a greater distance laterally in the downswing, because if the hips stop their lateral slide towards the target prior to impact their rotation takes over, changing the low point and rerouting the club across the ball, thereby causing an out-to-in glancing blow and producing a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices. It is oftentimes the reason some golfers will experience early success with the short irons but struggle a bit with the longer clubs. In this regard there are troubleshooting lessons and drills in my online school that are designed to specifically address and resolve these issues (in addition to the structured learning platform for the entire swing and much, much more). At just $10 US/month or $99 US/year it is perhaps the best PGA golf instruction deal out there. Here's a link if you'd like more info: saguto.golf/p/golf-swing-simplified-tom-saguto-pga

      Hi Bradley,
      There has been quite a bit of dialogue in the Members' Forum of my online school on the topic of how to transport "Ranger Rick" to the golf course. We all experience that! All I can tell you is that it is part of the process, and if your practice mode is delivering consistently solid results then it's just a function of time in terms of when/how that will translate itself to the course. As confidence in your swing grows you should find more and more that you are playing "golf" instead of "golf swing" on the course, at which point your mechanical thoughts will be reduced to one or two at the most, and you will be nearly entirely focused on your target and not your swing. An excellent book that may help you with this is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante.
      Beyond that, I'd love to see you in the online school and participating regularly in the highly supportive SagutoGolf Community that is growing into something quite special in our Forum!
      Cheers!

One double, rest pars or bogey. I had also drove every fairway. I am a Sagutogolf online student. I can assure you, you cannot go wrong learning Tom's stack n tilt teachings. This young man has some of the best drills to eliminate majority of your swing faults. I will admit, I have my swing faults as well but I have the necessary tools Tom provides to get away from those faults. Best investment in my game I had ever made next to getting a new set of irons. $10 a month is nothing. I honestly believe I'd still be struggling in my game if I had not made this change from the traditional conventional swing to SnT.

      By the way, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. There's even a members' forum where you can ask me specific swing-related questions, interact with others in the SagutoGolf community, and suggest new content ideas, plus you'll also have access to all exclusive TH-cam paid channel members-only content at no additional charge. Hi Tom! Love your vids and the v1app. Been watching all your videos and I know your big on putting the lead arm in line with your trail bicep in the backswing. I was under the impression that this was to eliminate any type of shallowing in Downswing. Basically once your in the slot, then you’re on plane for the downswing with no need to shallow :)

      Shallowing the club along with your turn brings the club head square to the target. Watch how Tom finishes and try to finish the same way. This will help square the club and keep it square through the impact zone.

      Hi Jon -
      Interestingly, I just replied to another "Jon" in the SagutoGolf Members' Forum who asked this same question. My apologies if that was you because I'm going to provide the exact same answer here: _Folks in my online school will notice in the Fixing Common Swing Problems section that there are several lessons/drills related to Steep or Over-the-Top downswings. I refer to this as Downswing "Problem #1" with good reason. Yes - if this swing is properly executed your downswing path will mimic the backswing, but minus the necessary downswing moves to keep the path intact the general tendency is towards steepness. The conscious act of shallowing the shaft ultimately builds in the correct motions and feels so that ultimately the downswing will perform as designed on autopilot._

      @daveparsons7756 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @beaujohn
      @beaujohn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's frustrating when a video comes out seemingly contradicting the entire philosophy. What's the point if there is a separate shallowing move? You might as well allow some disconnect in the backswing like 98 percent of pro golfers to allow more time in transition to drop into the slot and clear hips. Another conflict was related to the "hitting with the wrath of god karate chop right arm move through impact", letting the body respond. Then there was a complete 180 video where Tom talked about the right arm passively extending with rapid hip rotation.

    • @TitleistGuy
      @TitleistGuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beaujohn all I can think is that even with a shallow shaft Plane there is still a bit of lifting (from elbow plane to turned shoulder plane) ... I think? Lol. I’m trying to find the corresponding TGM components that map back to Tom’s teachings and that’s all I can find.

      Throw me a bone here, folks....
      SagutoGolf members will notice in the Fixing Common Swing Problems section of the online school there are several lessons/drills related to Steep or Over-the-Top downswings. I refer to this as "Downswing Problem #1" with good reason. Yes - *_IF_* this swing is properly executed your downswing path will mimic the backswing and be appropriately shallowed, but minus the necessary downswing moves to keep the path intact the general amateur tendency is towards steepness. (Even the pros fight this, which is why you see so many of them working on it on the range or rehearsing it in their pre-shot routine on the course.) The conscious act of shallowing the shaft ultimately builds in the correct motions and feels so that ultimately the downswing will perform as designed on autopilot.
      So you can choose to either hunt for "inconsistencies" in an effort to "trap" the instructor, or you can accept the plain hard realities of the golf swing - particularly this most common game-wrecking affliction of amateurs across the globe - and recognize that I am pulling out all measures to help them overcome it.

    Tom, what is more imperative... shallowing the shaft or handle leading the clubhead? I'm guessing you're going to say both, but if you had to pick one. To me, I think handle leading the clubhead is an absolute fundamental. Would love your thoughts on this.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But why would you want to choose one over the other? It's kind of like, "do you want to be a chopper or a caster/flipper?" This is a complete system for swinging a golf club , and proper execution of it puts everything where it needs to be, consistently and powerfully.

    • @MJB7322
      @MJB7322 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SagutoGolf I guess I don't want to choose one over the other. It's just that I've never been successful at shallowing. Most instructors, when demonstrating the shallowing, never explain how the clubhead gets from behind them out to the ball. They warn about coming over the top, but they still don't really demonstrate how the clubhead moves from behind them out to the ball. Plus some instructors (e.g., Mike Malaska) think that shallowing the club is a bad idea because many players get stuck and wind up flipping to get the clubhead to the ball. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos and thanks for responding.

    Tom,
    I am a senior golfer and have been working with a local PGA golf professional. He has been working with me on pivoting my hips/not swaying keeping my head still and centered over the ball. During the backswing, he trains to keep the club at a 45-degree angle and then shallow the downswing by lowering my hands/club in a downward motion before striking the ball. I have had fairly consistent success with this method. However, he is now teaching me how to rotate my hands before striking the ball during the downswing to make sure the club face remains square. This step (rotating hands) feels very uncomfortable. Is it necessary to always rotate your hands?

      Hi Michael,
      It is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. Plus these are sections of the school specific to fixing common swing problems (such as chopping) and ball flight fixes. There's even a members' forum where you can ask me specific swing-related questions, interact with others in the SagutoGolf community, and suggest new content ideas, plus you'll also have access to all exclusive TH-cam paid channel members-only content at no additional charge. This will really put you on the fast track towards learning everything in a well-organized, self-guided fashion. Not at all, Iain. Consider that the ideal downswing path is the ideal downswing path, regardless of whether you lift the club up and must then "drop it in the slot" or - as taught here - you just keep it in that slot from the start!

    Hi Tom, I find my shots are better when I have the sensation as though swinging at the ball towards the target like a tennis swing; thus having the flow of the club head swung towards the target. However, I think my ball flight goes a tad bit high and the ball is like floating 30-40feet in the air especially using lofted irons like 8 iron and above. Is an 8iron shot supposed to go high? My 8 iron goes 130m and I am using Callaway X20 iron set.

      Hi Tom, 5:25 did you swing with right hand dominant?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My "feels" change regularly - sometimes it's the lead arm, sometimes it's the trail arm, other times it's both arms, and even others it's no arms and just shoulders or chest or hips - so I really have no idea of what I was feeling on that particular day... 😆 This is why I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Hi Tom! Is shallowing the same as tucking in? 😊

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eric,
      "Shallowing" refers to the correct downswing path that has the clubhead approaching the ball on an in-to-out (e.g.: shallow) track. Tucking the trail arm as I have demonstrated in recent videos provides a means to accomplish the shallowing while also loading that arm into a very powerful position.

      Yes - it’s essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. In fact, here is a video of Stack and Tilt co-founder Mike Bennett hitting the driver: th-cam.com/video/7fmtzyH3rsA/w-d-xo.html. It looks very similar to his iron swing, right?: th-cam.com/video/SLjwU_1Cc7o/w-d-xo.html If you do a search on this channel you'll see some content on the driver and fairway woods. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
