I'm happy to have been some help for you with that! It takes some practice, and I know there are many factors that can be tricky to get the hang of. What do you find you struggle with the most, when it comes to drawing animals?
@@jessicamatheneyfineart Hi, Jessica. I appreciate the follow up question. I'm truly a beginner with this style of drawing so there are some basics that I know I need to learn. It's going to take a lot more practice on my part before I can really see where my true struggles are. For now, I'll keep watching your tips and practicing. Excited to see how I improve over time. Thanks again!
This video is really helpful! The paper is definitely more important than a lot of people realize too. Colored pencil almost feels like a different medium while using different papers🤔 Also I have pastel mat which i use for my pastel pencils, but a warning is that it will eat up colored pencils really quickly! It’s a really high quality paper though and I like that it comes in different tones
What's your favorite medium smooth paper? I love bristol but I've heard a lot of people say they think it is too smooth. I don't like rough, grainy paper though. But i would like to try something inbetween... Great video, thank you!
You're welcome. :) I usually use bristol vellum for subjects that have fur, and I use the medium drawing paper for other subjects. You can get more layers with the medium drawing paper, and I have used it a lot with my drawings. I am only able to get a maximum of 3 layers using bristol vellum, so it makes doing backgrounds a little more challenging.
I appreciate your concern for my channel growth. When starting a new channel there is a lot that goes into its growth and success, but most importantly is that usually it takes a year or two to gain your first couple of thousand followers and this is because of TH-cam 's algorithms that recommend content to viewers. All big content creators here on TH-cam, even ones who produced good video quality in the beginning, started off with slow growth in the beginning, and it's actually mostly those creators old videos that have gained lots of views over the few years, eventually become the driving force in the channel becoming more successful. :) It takes time for videos and a channel to gain the kind of views and retention that TH-cam looks for, to recommend your content to more viewers. Now, there are exceptions with some types of videos because they can be a trending topic and go viral, which creates large growth in a short span of time, but when it comes to art, this niche isn't really hugely popular. I also want to mention that I took a year off of TH-cam almost right when I started my channel, and that has hurt its growth, but I've seen lots of growth this year alone, and will be patient as I gain more traction for the time to come. :)
Learn tips for blending colored pencils.

Great video very helpful thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Do you use workable fixative at any point in the prosses?
Thank you for sharing your methods and great tips.
Thanks for these tips. I'm slowly working up the confidence to try drawing a more realistic animal. Your channel is definitely helping with that.

I completely agree. I bought some UArt paper, which is the cheaper equivalent to pastelmat, haven't tried it yet, but thanks for the tip!
Great video!!! Thanks for the tips! ❤️💕
You are so welcome!
