- Customer stated that the Acadia would not turn off sometimes and sometimes wouldn't start either. Had some ignition fault codes present when i plugged in the code scanner. This is a very simple procedure on how to replace the starter switch or ignition switch. In this video we used a 2012 acadia that had this problem. Procedure is the same for 2007-2012 and differs a little bit for model years 2013-2017 The chevy traverse also has a very similiar process and has the same switch. Down below I list the links to the ignition switch as well as some similar tools as the ones i used on this video.
ignition Switch : amzn.to/43pNUE1
Micro 1\4 ratchet : amzn.to/3Q78uWC
Cordless Ratchet : amzn.to/3OfSoIZ

Aww I really appreciate this especially because I made this video when I was younger. Video was made 5 years ago but barely got to uploading it now.. means a lot, thanks again!
Thank you so much for the video especially for calling out the nut/screw numbers
Thank you for your kind comment 🙏
Very thorough
Hey great video followed it to a T I have replaced the battery I’ve replaced the main relay. I’ve replaced the ignition switch now and my car still won’t turn off but it also won’t start. What do you suppose the next step would be?
Man....without having it to diagnose thats a hard one....but somehow the power is staying on...
Ty so much ! I was able to replace the ignition switch on my Acadia that has been giving me trouble for almost 6months now while ive been waiting around on my LAZY ASS, NOW EX, TO FIX. He's put me off and put me off and finally id had enough of waiting around on asshole men to DO something .. . With your help and thorough guidance I did it myself!! Screw these pathetic men I seem to get with. Thank you so much I wish I wasn't broke and could pay you something. Just know at least you helped a girly girl in Tampa gain some confidence and self reliability. And that to me is priceless. Ty so much from the bottom of my heart. I am forever grateful
Hey no worries. And yes some men are definately lazy and dont want to help their partners. I guess there is a reason he is an ex now 😅 lol. And you're very welcome. As for payment, no worries at all. Glad you got it going but if you ever do, there is a super thanks option on here where you can send us a tip or even through cashapp $perezjet. :) God Bless! Thank you!
Exelente video muy bien explicado. Felicidades y gracias por compartir tu conocimiento.
Muchas gracias por el comentario, se lo agradezco mucho
Hi my gauge lights (gas, temp, battery) no longer work. do you know the problem on the gmc acadia?
@@mehdim3755 sounds like a power issue not getting to all 3 guages...but it be hard to say without being there. I would check the fuses to be sure none are blown
Great video!! On the new switch, will it be set to a generic tumblers so that my key that is already synced will work? Or does it come with a new key that will need to be programmed
Hey thank you very much and It did not need to be reprogrammed. A good rule of thumb i always do is just cycle the key forward and back 3 times but reprogram is not required for this repair.
We have a 2007 acadia. That had not been starting
everytime. But once started it seems to be fine. Autozone told us it was the battery, but when we installed the new one.... same problem. While there I noticed that the car was in acc with key in, the radio all of a sudden turned on, so I cranked the car and it started. If not 1st try, then 2nd try. But the radio had to come on first! If the radio screen stayed black, it would not start. So, basically, right now, we turn to acc wait for radio display to start up and start the car. Could this be the ignition switch?
Very likely that it is because the switch may be internally failing to where it is no longer separating the on, according, and off position correctly but I have honestly never seen those symptoms occur.
I lost my keys to my acadia. Is this what i need to do to get it going again?
Are you sure you have to take the dash apart? Seems like you could have got to it by just taking the plastic off the steering wheel?
You can't take the plastic off the wheel without removing the dash pieces out of the way. They sort of hug the plastics by the steering wheel
@@EddiesCustomsandRestorations I just changed mine mine is an 11 and I was able to just take the plastic off the steering wheel and it worked just fine.. didn’t solve my problem but changed it lol bummer
@@JustinMentionedIt 🤣 lol thats too funny but man what a bummer....wish it would have worked out for you..
Is it the same as the 14
It will be very similar from the years of 2007-2016. Best of luck in your repairs! 🙂
What would you charge a customer for this ?
$75 roughly
Got all the way to the switch and instead of saying what kind of screws on it you go talking bout that mini ratchet had to put it all back together and take a trip to get tools
Sorry...I was fairly new at video making when I did this video
What kind of screw is it? Not sure this is my issue but having issue with the car and this might be it
He said torques 20 in the video which is a T20
I'm afraid I'm gonna blow my air bag
Just disconnect the battery for safety measure
