Rare to see a TOTP performance which was actually live, fair play to them for sticking to their guns and not allowing the shows producer's to overrule them.
I was there for this performance, right at the front! Hardly anyone else knew who they were but I was a rock and nu metal kid who'd gone along with friends and I didn't know most of the other artists but I was so excited about these guys and made sure I was right at the front.
@@aroundth3furThe entire nu gaze genre seems to be doing really well with bands like Narrow Head, Teenage Wrist, Soul Blind and more. Absolutely love the journey I took to get to this song
I was living in Dudley, England back then... I remember entering a HMV record store and listening to this. I went inmediately to the "disk jockey " and asked who were this band: He told me: It's My Vitriol! Got my CD and just loved them.... I wonder why they faded away.....
I managed to catch the original MV lineup 3 times in the early 00's (T In The Park 2000 along with Dundee's On Air East and Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms in 2001) and they were always great live. 'Finelines' is a cool album and it's a shame they never reached a larger audience. Anyone know if Carolyn is still involved in music?
It's 2020 and my love for their songs never fade! Classic geniuses
Yes! And go a's!
Sooooo gooooooood. A nugget of gold from the 90s/2000s.

@@aroundth3fur not shoegaze
As studios got better, bands were allowed the choice

Class 🎸🎸👌👌 superb band.
I just wish more people get to know this band
still listening in 2021!!!! love these guys ;)
They were definitely a head of the Nu-Gaze pack, they definitely paved the way for bands like Amusement Parks On Fire, Nothing, Airiel and Whirr
Narrow Head is a newer cool band that play music in that vein
@@aroundth3fur absolutely I couldn't agree more

weird thing is... they've been one of them bands what define an era in time, early 2000s
These were the days. Finelines is a classic
great vocal harmony
A proper live performance love it
Love this song ❤
What an absolute belter!
This is a heavy version. Love it
loved this when saw it on TOTP. Great alternative music managed to scrape into the top. 40 back in those times....
checking out Som's shirt, kinda foretelling a bit - too bad! I can't wait for their new stuff to come out!
The Secret Sessions came out last year.
They did appear on the show again with “Grounded” and had a third top 40 hit in 2002.
Carolyn Bannister - fine as hell.
Yeah I miss her not being in the band she not only looked beautiful but she was an excellent bassist too, she'd be alot older now of course.
@@adamknight7041 As is everyone...
She's 42 - hardly old.
Love his shirt!
i wanna hear some brits get mega-nostalgic over this

I remember this, I was in hospital recovering from appendicitis
AHH, memories! 😉
Only stumbled across them in 2023.. brilliant stuff. very tasteful, given the numetal shitshow that was the early 2000s
You just have to feel sorry for them. They could have been huge. But maybe that's the way they wanted things to be. At least they had a few hits.
I was sure they were going to be huge. Don't know what happened.
@Sinking I thought Finelines was pretty lacklustre tbh. I liked the singles but the album was very forgettable
@@boorhaave5880 interesting. It’s probably my favourite album of all time.
They chose 2:25 to take a hiatus
1:49 - always loved that bit
This is good shit!!!!
Genial!
F*******K i did not know about this
I like them more than Foo fighters
damn... for the career Foo's had... i'd rather a lifetime of my vitriol
Drummer needs to chill!!!
Why?
Mate, that drummer is SIIIICK.
What gimme a break
@@Antmonkey Looks pretty heathy to me…
