When you mentioned how long you’ve had your Craftsman Socket Wrench Set, it reminded me of when I was 13 or 14 and rode my Schwinn 3-speed Stick-Shift Sting-Ray six miles to Sears to buy a Metric Combination Wrench Set for maintaining my Candy Gold CT-70. Still using that set of wrenches over 50-years later !! Still have that Trail 70… wish I still had the Stick-Shift Sting-Ray too !!!
@@donsoule6411 For my high school graduation, in 1983, my parents gave me a multi-hundred piece Craftsman tool set. It’s the set I still have at home. The box I have at the shop, is the one I bought, when I acquired the shop, around 8 years ago. I guess I’d never tried to use the 1/2” drive 19mm before, because there isn’t one. Haha

Another great video, Mike. Thanks! Since you have it down that far, are you going to put in new fork seals and dust seals? I was planning on doing my 74 XL70's, but I can't find a video on how the fork legs come apart, go back together, and fork oil. Thanks again, my friend.
Hey Mike where are you going to work on the little Honda Z 50 mini Treo 71 with a scallop flames I know you said you had to work on the electrical’s hope you work on it real soon
@@barrybazile1294 It’s definitely not a priority. It runs / rides, so I most likely won’t work on it any further. It will never be anything more than a yard bike for my grandkids, so lights aren’t really needed.
on the lifan engines with the inner style stator can i change to a half wave regulator so i dont have to ground out the one yellow and tie in the other 2 on the harness?
@@MotocrossGuru-zf8pk The stator design dictates how it gets wired. If you’re wanting to get away from the grounded stator (two yellow wires), I’d recommend buying a new stator, with a yellow and a white wire. They’re $17 on Amazon.
@ also in either style stator does it matter which AC wire you plug into? the tb422 says white(to regulator) and yellow (to ac powered lights) or vice versa?
@ If you’re keeping the original stator, ground one of the yellows and tie the other to the yellow and white in the harness. If you swap to a stator with a yellow and a white wire, it’s a direct plug-in……yellow to yellow and white to white.
@ Check the continuity between the wires. If they have continuity with each other and neither wire has continuity to the engine block, one of them probably needs to be grounded.

Perfect timing. I’ve got to start reassembling two SL70’s soon. That bike was obviously well loved. The stories it could probably tell. 😊
Yes! I've been struggling with my xl70 for over a year now

Nice video, but why didn't you pressure wash it before tearing it down? Maybe I missed a comment about that.
