I swear I built this same kit back in the 70's when they were sold in plastic bags. That being said, I think you did a fine job with it.

The trim tab decals on the wings are the right size they've just poorly indicated how they go on. Those should be forward of the tab with the "arms" going back to the trailing edge.

I built one of these several years ago and the tail assembly was out of kilter. Plus, I lost the decals!

you can get aftermarket decals but thats a shame about the tail section

@@yorkshiremanmodels I did find some decals after a lot of searching, but that's half the fun. I printed them off, sprayed them and they're ready to use. I figure the judges won't look at the stabilizers that closely!

Not the best kit, but congratulations on making it work. Now, tell me, if this had been 100% perfect in every way would you *really* have enjoyed it as much. If you are anything like me you secretly love all the problems some kits present.

i do love a challenge but i have to admit this time the decals pushed me to the limit when it comes to expectations on a kit
over the years i have made some awful build kits work and have enjoyed it

Airfix in bad decals shocker... Airfix have some way to go to get to the standard we as modellers now expect, Tamiya and Trumpeter are leading the way, but companies like ICM, Zvezda, Hasegawa and Eduard are quickly catching up

yes i agree the decals from other manufacturers are getting very good indeed
but airfix stuffing decals that dont fit the kit is a very poor way to sell kits they are claiming are new
my personal view is i wont buy another bf109g-6 from airfix again and will just try another manufacturer of one instead

@@yorkshiremanmodels : It's a shame about those decals, as Airfix normally use Cartograph nowadays, and their decals are consistently excellent; so much so that many other companies - even Revell at times - have started going to them too!! 😀
I don't know if the decals in this particular come from Cartograph; if they do, they must have been given wrong dimensions for these errors to have happened... 😉 (At least, one would hope that's what happened!!)
It's also high-time that Airfix updated this kit - there was word that a new tooling was on the way (a couple of years ago)..... this kit really could use a new canopy, and a decent cockpit for the pilot to sit in...!! 😆

@@stevesstuff1450 it was a proper let down once i realised the decals where the wrong size
i thought the kit was about as basic as could be though detail was nice but as you said it needs a update

@@yorkshiremanmodels what really annoys me about ww2 German aircraft kits is they don't include the swaztika on the decal sheet anymore... I'm sorry but it's supposed to be there.. Is the world now so sensitive and woke that decal manufacturers are afraid of "offending" people.. If having it on a decal sheet was fine for years then its fine now and if someone is offended by a swaztika then maybe they shouldn't build models of ww2 German aircraft.
