Standard Gajin MO: 1. Add new premium vehicle to the game that practically beats almost anything at it's tier in order to drive sales of said vehicle. 2. Wait a couple of months for the people who are most likely to buy it to have done so, and then finally nerf or balance after the fact. 3. Repeat.
@@SomewhatSummarized It is good for short term money. everyone that doesn't want to buy a British premium might consider to stop playing altogether. Also, not all premiums are bought for there overpowering performance. It would be better to make premiums unique vehicles that are balanced but unlike any tech tree plane.
If you're not on the right part of the Carrier and you VTOL, the catapult throws your tail then you do a backflip and crash. So, you have to use the catapult... :(

Maps- we are talking some serious fjord, ravine, volcanic ash, city skyscraper, tunnel, ground fire, jammer, ground interference, more severe weather effect action to make gameplay more than Comona meta thunder every match. Objectives- More to do for bombers, strike aircraft and fighters. Time organization- Makes sure you don't see the R3T20 of the skies if you are not from the era in production, service, or tech.
The other problem is that you are flying an F-86A, you can´t get anything done with that thing, you have no missiles while it looks like everyone has and everyone outruns you without even trying.

@@forkbeater8763 You can always land at base, wait for rearm, then J out after spawning and leave the game. You won't have to pay any SL for repair and if it's at the start of the match you might have to wait 1-2 minutes to unlock the crew again.

Excellent episode mate. I have HUGE nostalgia for the Harrier and I said on Phly’s channel this plane is the reason the first game I’d buy is War Thunder just to play this.
My favorite new past time...watching the Harrier spammers fail after they run outta missiles because they cant hit shit with guns in a jet because they don't know what they are doing and cant kill anything without a missile...literally watched a sabre kill 4 harriers that were trying to gun him while i flew around watching in my Lightning just laughing.

Under a certain altitude yes, but even at high alt it's still nuts. The more modern planes we get, the better engines were going to see. Max speed may look similar to planes currently in game but they will reach it a lot quicker
Hey Odd, The acceleration from a standstill is legit, got to remember this thing can hover so it has a TWR notably higher than 1:1, it could literally take off like a rocket if it wanted to so it makes sense how quick it gets off the line. There’s an interesting video from DCS that compares a bunch of after burning stuff with the Harrier in a drag race and it holds 1st place for something like 5 miles before the supersonics manage to catch up. It weighs less than half as much as a Phantom and has around 2/3 the level of thrust. That engine is basically from an airliner with sweeping nozzles attached, it’d be better used powering something massive rather than a tiny fighter. The Harrier is basically just a real life meme.
Odd! I grew up near RAF Lossiemouth where some of these bad boys were based, seeing them fly around made me happy as a kid, and to see them in action in one of my favourite games, with one of my favourite TH-camrs at the helm is something truly special. Thank you.

Harriers always used to accelerate like a bat out of hell, one of the many benefits of having a massive engine to make you VTOL capable. Should really use the nozzles on take off to get up even faster :)
@@cavemanbonk8320 That’s why you use STOVL, normal take off but change your nozzles to about 60 degrees to get up quicker. It’s how the Harriers (and F35Bs) usually took off.

This thing is absolutely disgusting right now. In my opinion it's worse than the f104 problem because of the sraams. Its absolutely ridiculous that it's going against f86s and mig15s. No skill is required, just 2 brain cells and being within 1.5 km.
It's even ridiculous going against F11-F1. You dont have any counter measures against it. It's like "Oh, harrier is going after me, well, better pray" and then get slammed by a missile while you go Mach 1.
@@Tomathey75 Shut the F up. The fact that you think the missiles only work 50% of the time is because you're using them wrong. If you fire them beyond 2KM then yeah, they have a chance to fail once the enemy decides to steer away from you and 'try' to run. In any other scenario these things will hit, no matter what and from what angle your targeting. It's insanity. Remember that NOTHING has counter measures against it.
I have been working on my German Air and managed to get to the MiG-15 before the update. Now I can't play my MiG-15 whatsoever because the f**king Harriers and their SRAAMs ruin every game I get into. Literally impossible to play Air RB at 8.7 to 9.3 unless you are British. F**king disgusting. Even the Ka-52 spam in Ground RB wasn't this bad when that s**tshow of a premium was released, and that just goes to show how f**king terrible this Harrier with SRAAMs is at 9.3.
I think this would be in a good BR bracket if there was a BR wall again, and if the J32 comes down in BR. Also the fact that you try to keep things positive is something I've really noticed and appreciate!
This jet has given Britain its turn at the bullying every jet in existence table, and it's fun as all hell to play I can understand how absolutely frustrating it can be but everyone has their time in the sun, I recall when yak 23's were running rampant at 8.7 and it made it hell for anyone not in that abomination, everyone deserves a chance to be the one at the top and now it seems Britain has that chance, it will change it always does.
Funny thing is, the Harrier GR1 was never wired for any kind of air to air missiles at any time, so I don't know what led to the idea of making the GR1 the premium aircraft with the OP missile. Even the GR3 wasn't wired for Sidewinders until the Falklands War, which was quickly designed bodge job at that point that led to a very unfortunate accident at Stanley airfield where a missile was fired on the ground (no weight on wheels type safety switch involved in the Sidewinder mod) that led to injuries amongst the Royal Engineers and Welsh Guards. You would have thought the Sea Harrier FRS1 would have been the poster jet for a premium aircraft. An actual fighter capability with radar, raised canopy for visibility, 4x AIM-9L's (post war) and its combat record. (Technically speaking, the Sea Harrier is one of only 3 jet fighters do have shot down an enemy aircraft with zero losses in actual air combat).

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the thought, level of detail and realism put into the decision. The decision that the harrier should take off of the aircraft carriers, using a catapult.
Before this patch, the FGA.9 was top dog for most of 9.7. Now, I often find that most of the game is over before I even reach the AO simply bc the harriers just clean everyone with their SRAAMs. I can’t even say how many games I’ve won with 1 or 2 kills without firing my guns. Sabres were not much of a threat to me before but now, it’s a one sided turkey shoot with all the SRAAMs against America and Japan.
Guys, how do i get into aircraft in war thunder? I've got a fair few hundred hours in tanks and navy-based stuff but aircraft have just been too difficult to get started for me.
Start with the F3F in US, move on to the F2A-1 and then to the P-40 to start. These are great planes and not really overpowered in their own right, above average for their BR's so they're great trainers. Also, watch Defyn and WhooptieDo videos! :)
I suggest you youtube some tutorials to learn and practice all the air manoeuvres. Unlike Tank RB (which is more about map), Airplanes require no map knowledge and are more about skill. I also suggest to start with a tree you really like to get to a plane you really like, the Bf109s or spitfires won't let you down once you get past rank 1. Biplanes are a different ballgame to mono-wing planes, so I suggest not to spend too long on them.
I personally started with a few friends in arcade. Just dumb fun without any real trying. That helped me understand the basics and slowly I moved into air RB and learned that mode. Start with some easy to fly planes like the Buffalo or early Russian planes and once you are comfortable move up the ranks.

If you think about it, being a VTOL it's thrust/weight MUST be >1 with a usable payload and operational fuel. Since everyone takes 17 seconds of fuel in WT it's no wonder it's a UFO
I think the best way to deal with this thing is just be yeet of its missiles and give it sidewinders. The GR.1 rarely used SRAAMs anyway so historically it's barely even an argument.
You kinda cant do change that drastic on something that people had to buy with cash ... they will probably uptier it to 9.7 and keep its ridiculous repair cost as it is, but thats about as hard as they will go after it.
the SRAAM´s are ok, but the Hunter f6 got moved to 10.0 because it has SRAAM´s, and it has about the same climb/speed with less acceleration and less effective guns,(30mm Aden vs. 30mm Aden mk.4)
@@whitherunguard6173 the gr1 has far superior climb and acceleration, able to out run 10.7s from low to medium speeds. Gr1 in particular needs to be 10.3 while the others need to be 9.7.

Yep, the acceleration is incredible, it can maintain near mach speed with 60% or less throttle (also helps to prevent overheat), it can go supersonic and maintain and it seems to maintain energy (very low energy bleed) during turns and stuff.
100% agree, they need to dumb down the thrust or change the accel curve. Make it a shorter curve, not a linear curve. A typical cruise is around 800 mph. Too easy to get to the top fast. Maybe they need to implement the real overheating of the engine... Always thought the US Harrier was faster. I suspect GR1 has bound to the BR 10.x area... or at least slow it down and make it similar to the Hunter at 9.7. Great review and content as always.
Just me splitting hairs here but the thrust and incredible acceleration of the Harrier GR. 3 is pretty realistic because the Harrier in order to help VTOL capabilities with a half decent load it has a wild thrust to weight of 1.7 on an empty load and 0.8 with a maximum load easily enabling these high accelerations and fast maneuvering assisted by thrust vectoring.
Its the KA50 of jets. I bought a KA50 just so i can protect my Heli EC teams from the high tier premium helis sniping them. I imagine the Harriers give you the same dirty feeling the KA50 gives me.
9:25 That's me, thought I recognized that name! All the harriers are SUPER fun to fly, but them British SRAAMs are a little obscene at 9.3. Also, the AV-8A runs hotter than the GR. 1 it seems. Have to set throttle at ~90% in the AV, while I can let the GR sit at ~95-100%. other than engine temps they feel almost identical. Also save that wep for when you get low energy and you can just take off to orbit while everyone else stalls out under you.
@@LaminarTurbulence For a 8.3 like the f9f 3, the yak 38 can just run forever and you cant catch it. Its just as bad. Ive seen the yak get a mach vapor cloud in a flat line
9.7 would make no difference. You would still face it every game as the only way it can go is a down tier. 9.7s can’t get put into 10.0 games or higher. It should be at 10.0 as it competes with the mig 21s and phantoms
Harrier GR mk.1 was in the position of A-10A or Su-7BKL/BMK's in RAF service ; rapid and fast A2G support bomber. It was never purposed on air to air role even comes to the later variant, GR.3. Only Sea Harriers and Harrier II were built for the air to air purpose. Which the reason FAA selected Harrier to replace their Phantom FG mk.1 and Buccaneers. This Harrier GR mk.1 is a makeshift OPness the reason Harrier GR mk.1s been converted to GR mk.3 already by the period of SRAAMs being developed and made for the test trials. The pic harrier GR mk.1 with SRAAM tubes are likely to be Zuni kind of unguided rockets tube rather then SRAAM launcher tubes.
Did 8 AirRB matches today in a YAK-38 where my team was mostly YAK's and MIG-17's against full harrier teams..... The matches never lasted longer then tops 10 min and we lost all the matches. They really need to do some balancing 😅
I main the A-4 Skyhawk. It is impossible to have fun in it now. I played 4 games all against the British and in every game I get swarmed by 3 different Harriers using SRAAMs within 5 minutes of the match starting. I really hope Gaijin tightens whatever screws were loose in their head and put this thing at 10.0.
How to play mig 15 bis: stall climb the planes. you have the best thrust to weight ration. 8.7: Missiles, missiles. harriers. missiles harriers harriers. these things can go to space with that thrust to weight ration. it just doesnt slow down on verticals lol.
I'm pretty sure the acceleration is indeed realistic because it like 85 kn (more on the GR.3) of thrust and it's a very small and light plane. It can't go supersonic in level flight because of the engine's low exhaust velocity.
Seems like the SRAAM is a major part of what makes the Harrier OP. Since the SRAAM never made it into service use, perhaps they should just use the appropriate AIM-9 for the aircraft.
I’ve got a rant went on WT tonight first time since update. Played 5 games 1.7 br 4 games the sun had already set couldn’t see crap 3rd person. They fix dust and smoking caps then add it impossible for low tier to see anything that’s not in the scope. They keep the olive oil so you can’t see and slide off getting stuck
My dads cousin flew harriers and loved them apart from being subsonic they were amazing he said I got to sit in a training simulator when I was a kid he went on be a squadron leader at the training base
Love the fact i can rush straight to s bomb objective drop on two sights and head back to base rearm reload and drop before running into any air targets
The reason the Harrier is so quick is because, even when at maximum take off weight, it has a thrust-weight ratio of 0.85. If you just have Sidewinders or SRAAM, and with a partial fuel load, you aren't going to be at MTOW, so the TWR is going to be above 1, meaning you can go vertical, and you can accelerate at greater than 1G. But as good as in the video, I'm not sure. It seems too quick, but it might be realistic given the crazy TWR. The Harrier GR1 having SRAAM isn't historically accurate, and it's OP for 9.3. Gaijin also cocked up with the GR3 not having the AIM-9L, but I can understand why (all aspect would be OP, but thank goodness it has flares). You see, SRAAM was supposed to be an improvement and replacement on Sidewinder. But because of funding and the Americans bringing out the all aspect AIM-9L, it never got past the technology demonstrator model. The test platforms were one ground launcher and a Hawker Hunter F6, hence why the Hunter has SRAAM in the game. But the Harrier never used SRAAM, so I have no idea why they equipped it.
I'm not a noob to air RB, but the Harrier is one of my first proper high tier jets. My current K/D is 13-1, with 80k RP and 300k SL earned..... In 3 matches......
The thrust is realistic because the Harrier to be VTOL needs a power to weight ratio superior than 1:1 but only with WEP, in real life WEP (water injection) is used only for vertical takeoff and landing because it is limited.
I was basically forced to buy the GR1 because Yak38 i bought was getting absolutely destroyed by them ... so instead of buying Yak to grind out russians and getting tech tree Harrier for the Brit tree i had to buy the GR1 too as i was LOSING SILVER on the insanely expensive premium jet i actually wanted to fly ...
I have less trouble in my F11-F1 vs the Yak-38 than I have against harriers. Maybe its because I can use my speed to get away from the Yak-38, while the Harriers just UFO after you and climb heavily towards you. Or maybe I was just lucky the few times I tried.
Yoo OodBooz. Yoko here! I bought the AV-8A, really enjoying it so far. Copsi told me basically, Yak-38 is shit, AV-8A is good for ground pounding, Gr.1 is good at Air RB. Hence me buying the AV-8A.
Yep sure did. Didn’t expect Gaijin to do it that fast. Problem is, it’s now in a place like the J32 and G91YS. All are damn good aircraft, but they doesn’t stand a chance in a full up tier. Which is what they all face now. They can’t go down either or else they’ll be OP. So until the battle ratings are further decompressed, they’re stranded.
I honestly don’t dislike fighting the Harrier, because in my 17AS I just lure them into a dogfight and out turn them. They have horrible turn time, i also love playing the Harrier too. People just need to learn how to counter it.
I’m the big sad that they messed up this bad. Also the mig 21bis doesn’t get the 9900kgf they said it would. Instead it gets a less powerful afterburner than the smt at 7220kgf.

In my F86A 90% of the games you play are American and Japan vs UK, Germany, France, and USSR I haven't won once when playing against the British.

When I saw this on the dev server I thought it would be a bit much at 9.7. So Gaijin one upped themselves and released it at 9.3 instead.

Well Harrier is about as maneuverable as F11 and Adens arent exactly the best guns in the game (ill take american 20mm over Aden any day)

The Thrust is realistic by the way, the massive fans and the Pegasus engine means it has a TTWR greater than 1.
Under a certain altitude yes, but even at high alt it's still nuts. The more modern planes we get, the better engines were going to see. Max speed may look similar to planes currently in game but they will reach it a lot quicker

The acceleration from a standstill is legit, got to remember this thing can hover so it has a TWR notably higher than 1:1, it could literally take off like a rocket if it wanted to so it makes sense how quick it gets off the line.
There’s an interesting video from DCS that compares a bunch of after burning stuff with the Harrier in a drag race and it holds 1st place for something like 5 miles before the supersonics manage to catch up.
It weighs less than half as much as a Phantom and has around 2/3 the level of thrust. That engine is basically from an airliner with sweeping nozzles attached, it’d be better used powering something massive rather than a tiny fighter.
The Harrier is basically just a real life meme.

Harriers always used to accelerate like a bat out of hell, one of the many benefits of having a massive engine to make you VTOL capable. Should really use the nozzles on take off to get up even faster :)
I have a throttle axis I use for the nozzles, it has a detent at 50% which is perfect for a fully loaded STOVL
It gets you up slower actually.
Using vtol to take off is much slower ultimately than taking off conventionally
@@cavemanbonk8320 That’s why you use STOVL, normal take off but change your nozzles to about 60 degrees to get up quicker. It’s how the Harriers (and F35Bs) usually took off.

If you fire them beyond 2KM then yeah, they have a chance to fail once the enemy decides to steer away from you and 'try' to run. In any other scenario these things will hit, no matter what and from what angle your targeting. It's insanity. Remember that NOTHING has counter measures against it.
I proclaim they finally got P2W. due to the premium Harrier GR1 can use SRAAM's while the tech tree Harrier GR3 only has AIM-9G's.

I have been working on my German Air and managed to get to the MiG-15 before the update. Now I can't play my MiG-15 whatsoever because the f**king Harriers and their SRAAMs ruin every game I get into. Literally impossible to play Air RB at 8.7 to 9.3 unless you are British. F**king disgusting.
Even the Ka-52 spam in Ground RB wasn't this bad when that s**tshow of a premium was released, and that just goes to show how f**king terrible this Harrier with SRAAMs is at 9.3.

This jet has given Britain its turn at the bullying every jet in existence table, and it's fun as all hell to play I can understand how absolutely frustrating it can be but everyone has their time in the sun, I recall when yak 23's were running rampant at 8.7 and it made it hell for anyone not in that abomination, everyone deserves a chance to be the one at the top and now it seems Britain has that chance, it will change it always does.

Funny thing is, the Harrier GR1 was never wired for any kind of air to air missiles at any time, so I don't know what led to the idea of making the GR1 the premium aircraft with the OP missile.
Even the GR3 wasn't wired for Sidewinders until the Falklands War, which was quickly designed bodge job at that point that led to a very unfortunate accident at Stanley airfield where a missile was fired on the ground (no weight on wheels type safety switch involved in the Sidewinder mod) that led to injuries amongst the Royal Engineers and Welsh Guards.
You would have thought the Sea Harrier FRS1 would have been the poster jet for a premium aircraft. An actual fighter capability with radar, raised canopy for visibility, 4x AIM-9L's (post war) and its combat record. (Technically speaking, the Sea Harrier is one of only 3 jet fighters do have shot down an enemy aircraft with zero losses in actual air combat).

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the thought, level of detail and realism put into the decision. The decision that the harrier should take off of the aircraft carriers, using a catapult.
Before this patch, the FGA.9 was top dog for most of 9.7. Now, I often find that most of the game is over before I even reach the AO simply bc the harriers just clean everyone with their SRAAMs. I can’t even say how many games I’ve won with 1 or 2 kills without firing my guns. Sabres were not much of a threat to me before but now, it’s a one sided turkey shoot with all the SRAAMs against America and Japan.
Guys, how do i get into aircraft in war thunder? I've got a fair few hundred hours in tanks and navy-based stuff but aircraft have just been too difficult to get started for me.
Start with the F3F in US, move on to the F2A-1 and then to the P-40 to start. These are great planes and not really overpowered in their own right, above average for their BR's so they're great trainers. Also, watch Defyn and WhooptieDo videos! :)
I suggest you youtube some tutorials to learn and practice all the air manoeuvres. Unlike Tank RB (which is more about map), Airplanes require no map knowledge and are more about skill.
I also suggest to start with a tree you really like to get to a plane you really like, the Bf109s or spitfires won't let you down once you get past rank 1. Biplanes are a different ballgame to mono-wing planes, so I suggest not to spend too long on them.
I personally started with a few friends in arcade. Just dumb fun without any real trying. That helped me understand the basics and slowly I moved into air RB and learned that mode. Start with some easy to fly planes like the Buffalo or early Russian planes and once you are comfortable move up the ranks.

If you think about it, being a VTOL it's thrust/weight MUST be >1 with a usable payload and operational fuel. Since everyone takes 17 seconds of fuel in WT it's no wonder it's a UFO

I got this thing as a late birthday gift and it has been quite fun, doing rolls and using the Aden’s is quite satisfying.
I think the best way to deal with this thing is just be yeet of its missiles and give it sidewinders. The GR.1 rarely used SRAAMs anyway so historically it's barely even an argument.
Technically the GR.1 never used SRAAM’s. There is only a single photo of a Harrier with an empty SRAAM pod on and that’s the twin seat GR.1 version.

the SRAAM´s are ok, but the Hunter f6 got moved to 10.0 because it has SRAAM´s, and it has about the same climb/speed with less acceleration and less effective guns,(30mm Aden vs. 30mm Aden mk.4)
@@whitherunguard6173 the gr1 has far superior climb and acceleration, able to out run 10.7s from low to medium speeds. Gr1 in particular needs to be 10.3 while the others need to be 9.7.

Yep, the acceleration is incredible, it can maintain near mach speed with 60% or less throttle (also helps to prevent overheat), it can go supersonic and maintain and it seems to maintain energy (very low energy bleed) during turns and stuff.

100% agree, they need to dumb down the thrust or change the accel curve. Make it a shorter curve, not a linear curve. A typical cruise is around 800 mph. Too easy to get to the top fast. Maybe they need to implement the real overheating of the engine... Always thought the US Harrier was faster. I suspect GR1 has bound to the BR 10.x area... or at least slow it down and make it similar to the Hunter at 9.7. Great review and content as always.
Just me splitting hairs here but the thrust and incredible acceleration of the Harrier GR. 3 is pretty realistic because the Harrier in order to help VTOL capabilities with a half decent load it has a wild thrust to weight of 1.7 on an empty load and 0.8 with a maximum load easily enabling these high accelerations and fast maneuvering assisted by thrust vectoring.
Its the KA50 of jets. I bought a KA50 just so i can protect my Heli EC teams from the high tier premium helis sniping them.
I imagine the Harriers give you the same dirty feeling the KA50 gives me.
9:25 That's me, thought I recognized that name! All the harriers are SUPER fun to fly, but them British SRAAMs are a little obscene at 9.3. Also, the AV-8A runs hotter than the GR. 1 it seems. Have to set throttle at ~90% in the AV, while I can let the GR sit at ~95-100%. other than engine temps they feel almost identical. Also save that wep for when you get low energy and you can just take off to orbit while everyone else stalls out under you.
I've been getting kills all day with the YAK 38 and the R60s at 9.3 seem disgusting, the SRAAM spam must be aweful
You can get away from the r60s if you know what you are doing you can do nothing against sraams
Yak-38 doesn't have the disgusting thrust of the Harrier so it's even less powerful.

9.7 would make no difference. You would still face it every game as the only way it can go is a down tier. 9.7s can’t get put into 10.0 games or higher. It should be at 10.0 as it competes with the mig 21s and phantoms

Harrier GR mk.1 was in the position of A-10A or Su-7BKL/BMK's in RAF service ; rapid and fast A2G support bomber. It was never purposed on air to air role even comes to the later variant, GR.3. Only Sea Harriers and Harrier II were built for the air to air purpose. Which the reason FAA selected Harrier to replace their Phantom FG mk.1 and Buccaneers.
This Harrier GR mk.1 is a makeshift OPness the reason Harrier GR mk.1s been converted to GR mk.3 already by the period of SRAAMs being developed and made for the test trials. The pic harrier GR mk.1 with SRAAM tubes are likely to be Zuni kind of unguided rockets tube rather then SRAAM launcher tubes.

Did 8 AirRB matches today in a YAK-38 where my team was mostly YAK's and MIG-17's against full harrier teams..... The matches never lasted longer then tops 10 min and we lost all the matches. They really need to do some balancing 😅
I main the A-4 Skyhawk. It is impossible to have fun in it now. I played 4 games all against the British and in every game I get swarmed by 3 different Harriers using SRAAMs within 5 minutes of the match starting. I really hope Gaijin tightens whatever screws were loose in their head and put this thing at 10.0.
How to play mig 15 bis: stall climb the planes. you have the best thrust to weight ration. 8.7: Missiles, missiles. harriers. missiles harriers harriers. these things can go to space with that thrust to weight ration. it just doesnt slow down on verticals lol.
I'm pretty sure the acceleration is indeed realistic because it like 85 kn (more on the GR.3) of thrust and it's a very small and light plane. It can't go supersonic in level flight because of the engine's low exhaust velocity.
Seems like the SRAAM is a major part of what makes the Harrier OP. Since the SRAAM never made it into service use, perhaps they should just use the appropriate AIM-9 for the aircraft.
I’ve got a rant went on WT tonight first time since update. Played 5 games 1.7 br 4 games the sun had already set couldn’t see crap 3rd person. They fix dust and smoking caps then add it impossible for low tier to see anything that’s not in the scope. They keep the olive oil so you can’t see and slide off getting stuck
My dads cousin flew harriers and loved them apart from being subsonic they were amazing he said I got to sit in a training simulator when I was a kid he went on be a squadron leader at the training base
Love the fact i can rush straight to s bomb objective drop on two sights and head back to base rearm reload and drop before running into any air targets
The reason the Harrier is so quick is because, even when at maximum take off weight, it has a thrust-weight ratio of 0.85.
If you just have Sidewinders or SRAAM, and with a partial fuel load, you aren't going to be at MTOW, so the TWR is going to be above 1, meaning you can go vertical, and you can accelerate at greater than 1G. But as good as in the video, I'm not sure. It seems too quick, but it might be realistic given the crazy TWR.
The Harrier GR1 having SRAAM isn't historically accurate, and it's OP for 9.3. Gaijin also cocked up with the GR3 not having the AIM-9L, but I can understand why (all aspect would be OP, but thank goodness it has flares).
You see, SRAAM was supposed to be an improvement and replacement on Sidewinder. But because of funding and the Americans bringing out the all aspect AIM-9L, it never got past the technology demonstrator model.
The test platforms were one ground launcher and a Hawker Hunter F6, hence why the Hunter has SRAAM in the game. But the Harrier never used SRAAM, so I have no idea why they equipped it.

The thrust is realistic because the Harrier to be VTOL needs a power to weight ratio superior than 1:1 but only with WEP, in real life WEP (water injection) is used only for vertical takeoff and landing because it is limited.

I was basically forced to buy the GR1 because Yak38 i bought was getting absolutely destroyed by them ... so instead of buying Yak to grind out russians and getting tech tree Harrier for the Brit tree i had to buy the GR1 too as i was LOSING SILVER on the insanely expensive premium jet i actually wanted to fly ...
The R60s are currently bugged and on top of that were nerfed beyond belief. When they get fixed the yak will do amazing
I have less trouble in my F11-F1 vs the Yak-38 than I have against harriers.
Maybe its because I can use my speed to get away from the Yak-38, while the Harriers just UFO after you and climb heavily towards you. Or maybe I was just lucky the few times I tried.

Yoo OodBooz. Yoko here! I bought the AV-8A, really enjoying it so far. Copsi told me basically, Yak-38 is shit, AV-8A is good for ground pounding, Gr.1 is good at Air RB.
Hence me buying the AV-8A.
Even if it's only for a few weeks I think it's worth every penny if nothing else just to get those Schwarzenegger memes.

Yep sure did. Didn’t expect Gaijin to do it that fast. Problem is, it’s now in a place like the J32 and G91YS. All are damn good aircraft, but they doesn’t stand a chance in a full up tier. Which is what they all face now. They can’t go down either or else they’ll be OP. So until the battle ratings are further decompressed, they’re stranded.
I honestly don’t dislike fighting the Harrier, because in my 17AS I just lure them into a dogfight and out turn them. They have horrible turn time, i also love playing the Harrier too. People just need to learn how to counter it.
I’m the big sad that they messed up this bad. Also the mig 21bis doesn’t get the 9900kgf they said it would. Instead it gets a less powerful afterburner than the smt at 7220kgf.
