After installing the tunes does the mini max need to be connected at all times? Or can i just unplug it and put it in my glove box? I really have no need to look at the screen or change settings after the delete.

Bully Dog and SCT just merged so I'm sure there are even more positive changes coming for the supporters of those two companies that are now going to be one. However, the difference between a MiniMaxx and a Bully Dog GT Tuner are the companies behind them. H&S Performance is the best diesel tuning company out there in my opinion. The MiniMaxx supports not only supports their canned tunes, but custom tunes as well (via MCC Custom Tuning). The MiniMaxx also allows for deleted tuning as well. I'm not aware of the Bully Dog GT Tuner doing any of that. I don't think the GT tuner allows shift on the fly tune changes either.
can you explain what dpf on tuning is? is dpf delete better for the truck just not legal? is there a difference between dpf on and dpf delete? like which is better for the engine
+Chandler Funk I'd encourage you to join a forum for your truck and make that decision after you have done your research. A DPF is a diesel particulate filter. Deleting or modifying the emission system on a vehicle is illegal. The difference between DPF on or off tuning is very measurable.

All I see is stock, tow, street and performance. Do you know where the hot setting is or is that only when you set it with emissions off? If you know please let me know, thanks bud.

So, I have a 2010 6.4 with a mini maxx. Everything is good except 5th gear shift. It seems to slide into 5th. Is there a way to tell it to "hard" shift to 5th?
You can use the MCC custom tuning software to customize the transmission software, but I have not messed with the MCC software at all. You may want to try some custom tunes from SPE, Gearhead or other diesel shop.

It's been a really long time since I had this set-up or truck, but I believe the mini max needs to stay connected to work.

Transmission tuning adjusted the shift points and the shifts are firmer.

no...my truck has 35's on it and a lift. MPG's are not the priority. Good luck.

You don't install a chip, you install a tuner. I no longer own the truck. H&S Minimaxx has been long shut down.

It does not affect the factor remote start. I sold the truck, but love the MiniMaxx!
