Several recordings of this work with piano and orchestra as well as the piano solo version have been made. I have them all but enjoy this one by Howard Shelley and LMP the most.
In these stressful times, Hummel's music provides much-needed therapy, as was the case in the post-Napoleonic war period (1815 onwards). Following Beethoven's impact, war-weariness gave way to restored sanity with help from Hummel. Many thanks to Stephen Hough, Howard Shelley and others for bringing Hummel's long-neglected contribution to modern ears.

Wunderbare, vorwärtsstürmende Melodik... wer hier den Solopart spielen will, muß wirklich s e h r gut sein.
Very nice!
unheimlich toll
A great rendition of an impressive and neglected masterpiece.
The orchestra is the London Mozart Players.
Romantic era work
10:00-12:00 reminds me of Alkan
Yeah. That's some Alkan style of building up tensions.
This is fucking awesome.
Don't say such ugly words!
@@arturdankovsky8293 He's fucking right though.
im the 100th person to like this (which no one asked about)
❤
2:02 That's some Chopin concerto vibe.
This is one of H's best works, same level as his magnificent a minor concerto. Many of his works are less interesting, the sonatas f.i.
