What a beautiful sewing room. I really like your chair and was having trouble finding it on Wayfair. Do you happen to know the model? Thank you for your inspiring video!
I’m sorry but I can’t find your chair at wayfair. Do you remember the model name? I loved this video. We are in the process of finishing about a third of our basement into my new sewing room and I’m so excited to find videos like yours to help me when moving-in day comes. Thank you. I will be waiting for your reply about the chair.
Sherri, you have created a fabulous space! Love how you have organized everything. I think we would all love to steal your carpenter for a bit! Thanks for sharing…just beautiful!🥰
Oh my goodness, I've been waiting to see your new sewing room. It's wonderful 😊. I love it . 😀 I'm waiting for my son to move out of the master bedroom of the house we live in so I can make that my sewing room. I don't need a big bedroom but I need a big sewing room.
I think I commented a couple of years ago that I was GREEN with envy....nothing has changed...lol! I love your sewing room. I have a large space but nothing matches, no built-ins, and I'm terrible at organization, no closet space. You've inspired me. (Nearest Ikea is 5 hours away....sigh!)
Your ironing station. You can purchase a plastic tablecloth with flannel backing and cut it to fit the table top then place your wool mat on top although you would still need to remove or flip the mat because the moisture from the steam could cause mildew as the plastic would retain moisture. I ruined my table top by just putting the mat on the bare table; it blistered from the heat and steam.
You could cut to size an inexpensive plastic tablecloth that is backed with flannel and place that under your wool ironing mat to protect the top of your cabinet.
Sherri I love my wool pressing mats. I air dry them when I have used them. They do sweat underneath...& it is natural fibres and need to breath. I have used a throw away razor to actually shave off the wool in areas where my iron has left a brown spot. It is not great but it does remove some of the burn that I don't want on my fabrics. I stopped using any spray starch on my mats or pressing covers with a xtra large garbage bag then put old towels etc down to absorb the spray over.....that is what discolours our mats and pressing covers.
Depending on the size of your mat, I have wash mine several times and then let them air dry flat. I have treated the spots before washing. They come out beautifully.
Hi Sherri! Can you say "sewing room envy"?? 💗💗Oh my, it's all just gorgeous, huge & that closet!! I think the white wood item on your cutting table you said is from Magnolia is a candle holder. Years ago I had my husband fashion one similar that wasn't quite as high, out of a piece of a log & the holes he cut fit tea lights. Now I may have to get him to make a larger one with deeper holes!! (I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that 🤣) Thanks so much for sharing your space!
Oh my goodness, this little tour was so much fun! You must have had a LOT of fun putting the room back together after the construction was done. Helpful? I would say a big YES. I am sure I will watch this video again and again and again :)
Your quilt studio is beautiful, Sherri! So many wonderful ways to organize and display items. I also have several wool pressing mats of different sizes. I find covering them with a cotton sleeve helps to reduce the smell that some people notice, prevent transfer of fibers and gunk to the bottom of my iron (I find those spots hard to remove), and keep the wool mat clean. I also want to comment about how much I enjoy your podcasts with Chelsea and Billy. There is always so much helpful information! You and Chelsea have great conversations and I look forward to hearing Chelsea’s laugh and Billy’s contributions which are delightful! Sandal
Your sewing room and closet are a quilter’s dream. I love how organized you are. I did not see a design wall. Do you not use a design wall? Wishing you happy sewing in your happy place.
What a lovely sewing room! Enjoy it everyday and thank you for showing us!! I recently retired and have been organizing my two rooms, one full of cross stitch and another for quilting. It is quite a process but is making me really happy! 🌷🌿🌷
I know I'm not the only one who was super excited to see this long awaited tour! Thank you Sherri! It's simply marvelous and very beautiful!! Your cabinet maker is very gifted!
I absolutely love the updated sewing room! Would you happen to remember where you got the pattern to make the fabric bins you have your charms packs in? I would love to make some in the sizes you have. 💗
Such a beautiful sewing room!! I can definitely tell you put a lot of thought into every section of your room, that you spend the most time inside!! Your happiness shines thru you while you talk about your room!! Enjoy your sewing studio!!😍
Sherri great video of the sewing room. Love ❤️ love it. Feel free to bless a fellow quilter if you ever want to downsize your fat quarter bundles. Just kidding. Have a great and bless day. Love ❤️ your videos and tutorials.
What a beautifully creative space ❤ Thanks so much for sharing it. The joy you feel about it truly radiates from you. Would you mind sharing the info about your sewing chair? I didn't see it on the links. Thanks!
Hello and I hope you have had a lovely day. I'm still sick but I'm so grateful to have these videos to watch and get to listen to you chat. Thank you for posting and sharing your time and talent.
Beautiful room and so organized, I couldn’t find a link for your sewing chair, I have so many chairs that hasn’t worked for me you said you got it at Wayfair. Thanks
I’m just blown away. All that space and storage. Fabulous and would be so easy to keep clean and organised. Thanks for sharing, Sherri. At least I can dream🥰🇦🇺
Everything looks really good! I even got some new ideas for my studio. ☺️ One thing I can recommend for your drawers is to pick up some cheap drawer bins to keep everything inside your drawers organized. Target has some for $2-$4 for a set of 2 or 3 in many sizes. I have always done this with dresser drawers and stuff, but when I applied it to my sewing studio drawers as well, it was a complete game changer! I know where everything is and everything has its own place.
thanks for sharing: it's so fun to see what you have come up with for storage and workspaces! Like someone else said, I'd love to borrow your carpenter for a few projects! 🙂Hugs, H
Your sewing room is full of great inspiration! I am new to quilting and I am always looking for great ways to put creativity in my room.I really like your sewing chair would it be possible to send me a link to Wayfair. Thank you
How do you keep your open containers from getting dusty. I would love to have some of those but I don’t want things getting dusty. I love your videos. Have you done a design wall? If so do you have a video on it or can you tell us how you made it? I’m in the process of making one.
I looked for a link to the chair you use for sewing machine but did not find it. I am looking for a comfortable chair as I have already had two back surgeries & I need a good chair. Any suggestions would be great. Enjoyed your sewing room tour.
What a lovely place to create! Sherri you certainly have a knack for organizing, decorating and creating the most functional spaces. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT❤❤❤
Love! Love! Love! your sewing space. You have a big room! Thank your for sharing all of your organization ideas. I am pretty organized, but need to label. And you have given me a few ideas to re-arrange some things. Enjoy your space!
Sheri, I protect my table top on my ironing station by a piece of hardwood cut to size of table top then I covered with ironing board fabric that was then covered by board cloth. It is removable, so if I want the cabinet plain I just need to remove the hardwood piece.
Hiya Sherri. Just wondering how you manage sewing large quilts with your sewing table against the wall? I used to have mine the same way and after removing those built in desks I purchased 2 Ikea table put them together and now have a table top where my machines (I have 2 - Juki 2010 and Pfaff 5.0) on the opposite right corners so that when sewing large quilts the bulk of the fabric has plenty of room to lay behind my machine. Truly a game changer for me. My space is much smaller than yours but I manage fine (until retirement when I move into a larger space God willing). Your sewing room is beautiful, spacious and so well organized. Thank you so much for sharing it. I will now visualize it when I watch your videos. Congratulations on your renovated space. Enjoy it!!!
What a great accomplishment! The design is key. Once that’s done, the project flows-and yours certainly did. So much thought put into this. I admire your discipline. Thank you for sharing!
Just a great tour Sherri and thank you for going thru your new shelving and areas. I got some great ideas and am amazed how nice it all works for you....lucky to have a carpenter who is handy and creative. Now I will have to re-organize my sewing space as there is always ways to improve...even if small things. Thanks....
I loved listening to this video. Practice does make our sewing skills better. Sometimes not get wrapped up in the intermediate or basic labels and just go sew the quilt will surprise you. Thank you for the awesome giveaway. I love the light blue Matt like Sheri’s. I hope you all have a fun Memorial Day weekend.
I have a Best Craft Organizer for several year (purchased for scrapbooking supplies) & love it. I do have a couple of the 1” drawers too & had never thought about putting rulers in there now that I’m sewing way more than paper crafting - thank you for the idea!!
I love your sewing studio! Everything is so light, neat, and organized. You have put a lot of thought and work into your organization. Thank you so much for the links to the lovely pieces you have acquired. I am getting ready to organize my sewing room and you have been so helpful by sharing your ideas. It’s a perfect sewing room! Congratulations and enjoy making your beautiful projects there.
That room must be such a pleasure to work in! I am definitely going to be using some of your ideas. I am retiring next month and planning a major sewing room do over.
Love your space and beautiful cabinet built. Wondering how you have your books organizer and where you keep patters, books etc. ? It seems I struggle with keeping my favorites organized and I go searching for them all over.
Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous sewing room. Yes i did get some great ideas for storage of my sewing STUFF! I plan on working in my space tomorrow because i have let it get too junked up! You are the best organizer I know. Thanks & Hugs, Jeannette
Beautiful sewing room, I would love to have that much space!! I have the same work/cutting table you do and love it. It is not only functional, it is a beautiful and well built piece of furniture. I bought mine a couple of years ago from Wayfair. I also love how organized you are. I like things organized to but sometimes it is hard to organize sewing items and projects. I am getting better at it and labeling makes a big difference. Thank you for sharing your beautiful room! Now I have even more ideas!!
Absolutely gorgeous space. Thank you for sharing. The closet is a dream!!!! Woukd love to know how often you clean the suave. Especially around the fabric. Fist seems to garter so quickly.
Amazing, Sherri! You are extremely fortunate to have such a stunning sewing room. Of course, you deserve it due to all the hard work you did to build your business for many years.
the quilt behind your husband's grandmothers chair was totally not mentioned...but, oh my gosh, that should have been mentioned. It is extremely gorgeous. Tell me about it, please?
Very nice sewing room! Thank you for the great ideas. Great timing for me I just started cleaning out my sewing room closet and parting with items I am not using. My room is only 10ftx13ft (your basic bedroom. So, I decided to clear out the cabinets at the top of the stairs and place my office supplies in the bottom cabinets and used the top cabinets for my quilt books and other items that I can get to easily. When i used to sew on my dining room table, i would set up my wool mat on the other end with a cutting mat under it to protect the wood. Worked great!

I do have a portable design wall I use occasionally.
I am interested in the link to Wayfair for your sewing chair. Did I miss the link? Your room is beautiful. Thanks.
The moisture warping your table was my question, Thanks for answering. I should double my wool mat.
There are also a couple of great suggestions in the comments above--I'm going to do both of them :)

That "thing" in which you hold your scissors and pens/pencils is called a sugar mold candle holder.
