Funny how ring fails to mention the plan unless you do your own research. I would’ve considered local storage had I known I’d only have a live camera without subscription.
Had the doorbell cam with the subscription for 3 years. Just bought two more outdoor ring cams and was unsure whether or not to buy the subscription since my trial for the two cams is about to expire. You convinced me! Great video thanks!
So basically, you have to pay to have a doorbell, when you should have just bought an actual security camera system that always records with no subscriptions. Huge scam for such a basic feature, if you consider they are using YOUR isp to let you use YOUR device.
screw "Ring" cause its a gypt. You cannot even put your phone in purse without your phone having existing Ring app small view window closed because if you do...your camera shuts off. So now your wasting your phone battery by having to keep your phone on and butt dialing or purse dialing everyrhing, or opening apps like crazy..on and on. $3.00 adds up when your making every penny count. I paid $100.00 for this thing...its going back. My alarm system will work just fine.
Just got an email where they're phasing out the $3 per month and upgrading us to $10 per month for a single device. Since I already have a Unifi Dream Machine (UDM), I'll be replacing my Ring Doorbell with one from Unifi and get all of the features for no subscription cost and better recording capabilities (for those of us with slow broadband connections). The primary reason is because it records locally on the hard drive in the UDM. And, I also get privacy because who knows what all these large corporations are doing with our data from recordings.
Thanks for the comment, yep I've been monitoring last night's announcements. All their changes are annoying - especially for Ring Alarm holders who have separate WiFi mesh systems too, who will now pay $20 per month for pretty much the same features they already have and pay just $10 per month for ☹️

When our subscription was over we didn’t re-up for about a month. During that time my front door camera would trigger at literally nothing all of the time. Once we got back on the subscription it stopped triggering randomly. I don’t think the subscription plan for unlimited devices is a bad deal. It’s just so far I am unsure about how good Ring’s ecosystem of devices actually are compared to the other options. I think it's worth the cost of purchasing the plan that covers all your devices, especially when I plan on adding more cameras or other ring devices. It makes sense. Thank You very much.

Just got a reminder my basic plan is coming to an end and I was wondering what to do so thanks for the video help.. I have the first ring video doorbell 1st generation. Big up from Scotland 👍
I don't know if other's devices and Ring account does the same or similar. But my Ring Cameras and Door Bell. Still have record and snap shots being saved. However, I'm just not allowed or permitted to view them because I do not have an active subscription. I can see them saved in the history and time line. Because of this, I went ahead and took down my Ring devices and removed the batteries from them. The cameras still record and upload to their servers only causing me to feel uneasy. It just seems intrusive more than anything and as though personal space and privacy of ones home and life is being violated with and without consent at the same time.
That's certainly... odd. I can't say that I've heard of that before - you're right that both recordings and snapshots usually require a subscription. It's almost like some form of bug - Ring devices don't tend to record without the subscription. Sorry to hear it - you could try contacting Ring customer services, but I'm not sure how much help they would be.
I bought two devices. Didn't realize that I needed to pay for a subscription, per device. I do like the way Ring works so I feel like I have no alternative but to pay for it. Wish I had seen your video before purchasing. I now feel like I got ripped off. Where can I file a complaint?????
I bought Ring and found Eufy are way better. That s why Ring is cheap because they make money from the subscription, not the camera itself. F*uck Ring.
I agree 100%. It's crazy how Ring are now also removing even more features (home and away modes) in a week or two. Ring will carry on this trend and will soon make the service subscription-only, IMO.
After paying for premium price for the hardware, Ring requires subscription which is about the same price of local security company monitoring. So will Google Nest be a better option? Google Nest allow storing and reviewing video without subscription. Thanks for the detail video.
Great video! Thanks for the post. After a year of loving my Ring doorbell, I am now learning about the required subscription plan. I only learned about it, as you mentioned in your video, when I attempted to review a video. What I find bizarre is that my friend bought the Ring device 2 or 3 years earlier and he doesn't have to have a subscription plan for everything to work. Have you heard about this?
Thanks, glad you found this video helpful 🙂 That's interesting - I don't know of any Ring devices that came with a lifetime subscription or similar. I would have assumed that your friend would also have a bunch of limited functionality without the subscription.
My trial is expired, but my app still works as usual. I receive alerts. It still records. I can review recordings, adjust settings, watch live feed, download videos, and communicate via the apps neighbors section. If I get all of this for free I feel as though I have no reason to purchase the subscription.
Hi nice video but I have one quick question: Is there a free trial for the subscription when you first set up your doorbell? The way you explained the scenario it sounded like it but just clarifying, thanks
Hi apologies if you have already answered this question. i have the Ring Camera 4th Gen front camera only but I want to add my wife as an additional user. I'm still on my 30 day free trial. can she have shared access with the ring protect plan? how many users can be added to the shared access?
Hello! No problem - yes, you can add your wife as a shared user, that should work fine. There shouldn't be any limit to the number of users you can add - I think it's practically unlimited.
Excellent video information. Thanks you. It’s $3.99 a month per doorbell now in the USA. Since I have two I did the discount plan for $39.99 per doorbell - so about $90 per year.
Thanks, glad you found this helpful 🙂 Yep good point about the price rises, I can't edit previous videos but it's good to know when/why to get the discount plan.
I bought my roomates ring doorbell camera when he moved out. now i cant get a hold of him and they stopped the app that i was signed into. i cant use it now and customer service does nothing. anything i can do?
There is a process in place for this - you should be able to add the device under your own Ring account (within the app), then Ring should automatically get in touch with your roomate: support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360038010351-I-would-like-to-take-over-or-change-ownership-of-a-Ring-device But it is a difficult issue for sure, if you and Ring are unable to get hold of him. I'd suggest to try the in-app approach, but failing that, reiterate to Ring customer support that the old owner had gone AWOL. If you have written proof that you bought the old doorbell, that should help your case too
I just CANCELLED my Ring Protection Plan. Not only does the Ring NOT work worth a hoot, but the system keeps pestering me to reset my password every 30 days, because I choose to use a laptop instead of a cell phone. The is WAY too much aggravation for a system that doesn't work well, needs to be recharged constantly, and when it does give an alert, the action is already long over. SAVE YOUR MONEY and buy something else. The Ring System is a scam.
One MAJOR disadvantage is that when a sensor is triggered there is no alert sent as a text message to phones....only email. For example, water/freeze sensor is triggered by a leaking water heater...user does not immediately get a text message on phone...only 12 hours later discovers the problem when reading emails.
I think You need Chime for instant alarm notification without using phone also we have Ring Alarm Base station for more alertness inside of your house the email or phone option is just the best for if you are far away from home
You can set your gmail to trigger a text to your phone. You should probably create a new gmail for your ring only. Getting a text for every email on your regular gmail gets old fast.
Have you switched this on via device -> device settings -> snapshot captures? If so, you view the snapshots via the timeline (accessible by all full users, i.e. you can't be an add-on user).
@@SmartHomePoint I just purchased this camera yesterday ring outdoor spotlight camera. I have the setting on but I can’t see snapshots. I only have the free trial version. Maybe I need to pay for the subscription before I could see snap shots? Thanks
Hmm it should work during the trial, it did for the following person. Maybe try restarting your Ring device and checking the app again? www.reddit.com/r/Ring/comments/gwze64/snapshot_capture_problems/?
This helped me choose the best economic plan for my setup (2 devices) $30/yr x 2 = $60. Although Ring vchat recommended the $10/mo or $100/yr plan initially.
Glad to hear it helped 🙂 Yes the only real benefit of the Protect Plus plan (in your case) is an extended warranty on the covered devices, but with 2 devices, I agree that 2x Basic plans work out better.
Just a quick update - I just heard that Ring are increasing the price of Protect Basic to $40 per year, annoyingly. Right now the Protect Plus price remains the same. So there's now only a $20 per year difference for you between the two plans. I'll do a video on this asap to discuss the changes more.
Watching this a year later and thanking you for making it clear. Just got a ring doorbell #4, and have 19 more days before my trial protect plan ends. Will definitely be subscribing at end of trial.
Not unless you have backup internet. Some internet routers offer backup internet (some contain 4G or 5G SIM cards and fall back to mobile data), but of course this requires power. The Ring Alarm Pro with a power pack might be your best bet, but naturally this requires a monthly fee for the full features including backup internet. EDIT: A battery powered mobile hotspot could work, I guess. But you'll naturally need to reconfigure your Ring devices to use this (during the power/internet outage), which could get annoying.
Ring does not give you a true heads up that there is an extra charge for the protection program until you have already bought their device which is a very expensive Rip Off . They remind me of telephone scammers from India. Buyer beware. Time to look around for new ones. Any suggestions?
Okay I am paying 20 month and I get notification, but can't view it live and will say video processing. Also in history nothing i can view so what is the problem here, is there setting i need to correct?
Hmm sorry to hear it. The only time I get that (missing videos, videos stuck in processing) is when one of my cameras has a really weak WiFi connection. So maybe check the RSSI under Device Health first of all
That's a bit odd - you definitely should get the recordings when in the trial period. If the motion is shown under the "Event History" but it says "Recording not avaialble" when you click on it, this could be a sign of a poor WiFi connection. I also have this from time to time, since I switch to a fairly budget "whole home WiFi" setup - it seems to clash with some of my Ring cameras, resulting in me losing some recordings.
When you are In live view how do you keep it on live until you end it? I just got the ring second generation. I like it but I don't like that I can't change the battery out when it's dying.
Unfortunately live view will always time out after 10 minutes or so. It's a limit that Ring add so that bandwidth isn't wasted unnecessarily. And yes, being able to 'hot swap' the battery would be useful, that's a neat suggestion 🤞
Hello mate looking at purchasing one of these, mainly due to people throwing rubbish and people letting their dogs use my garden as a toilet. Will this let me go through and replay the footage? (Even if it doesn’t detect any of the above?) thanks.
Hey mate, sorry to hear about the rubbish and the dogs ☹️ That's the thing - Ring will only allow you to go through the footage if you buy the subscription plan. So for £2.50 per month you'll get what you want, but with no subscription you won't get any recordings saved.
We use a ring doorbell because our door does not have a window and it's easy to hide from other windows in the house. We only want notifications and live video. If I wanted a security camera with recording I'd want something a lot better than a doorbell camera!
hello, I have a small question: which is the benefit of having subscriptions when you don't have, neither will buy ring camera's? I am equipped with nest for camera's. Thanks alot
Hello, It depends on the specific camera maker to be honest. Reolink and Eufy (for example) would pretty much fine without a subscription. For Nest, you do lose a lot without a subscription. I have a blog post which goes into detail on the pros and cons of Nest without a subscription, if you're interested: www.smarthomepoint.com/nest-hello-without-subscription/
So when it says for one device for the subscription it means ring device not my phone can I download the app on like 2-3 phones and still use all the features ??
Does the extended warranty only apply to products purchased directly from ring?. I bought second-hand ring doorbell pro. Will this be covered on extended warranty?. Thanks.
Good question - I haven't claimed on the extended warranty myself, but I'm almost certain that it applies to any Ring device, wherever you purchased it. Just be sure to keep the original purchase receipt/information. Having said all that, their website does say that the device should be registered in one location/account - so a second hand Pro might not qualify. Apparently Ring can sometimes make exceptions about it not being the original owner, but it's at their discretion.
I'm actually disappointed with the no record if you don't have the subscription... if i subscribe after the incident occurred 1 hr ago i should be able to see what happened. at least at that day... a shame a guy in our apartment had his car stolen... and this doesn't work.
It's frustrating for sure. I guess Ring's position is that it wouldn't make sense to record clips (for those who aren't subscribed), just in-case that person subscribes. There could also be privacy concerns, with Ring storing video clips even if someone actively doesn't want this (hence hasn't purchased the subscription plan). But yep, Ring often market these as security cameras - and so it's not much good when it doesn't detect burglaries that occur 😔
My Ring doorbell stinks. It is constantly going off and saying someone is at door. No one is there. Irritating. Than I tried to pull up video and it would not come up during the trial time.. I would rather get a camera with no fee. That would work. The cost of the doorbell was enough, no need to pay for something that barely works for me
Sorry to hear it... yes, it can be a bit temperamental at times. Maybe check out the Rapid Ring app and see if that fixes the speed of video playback? However it odd if it's saying that someone is at the door when they're not. I can't think of why that'd happening beyond a software glitch, or an actual issue with the doorbell.
Good question, sorry for the confusion! The Ring Rapid app will hopefully allow you to get notifications a bit quicker and view video faster too, but it won't help with the other issues you've been facing I agree.
Yes I agree, it seems pretty good value to me. $10 per month for an unlimited number of cameras and Ring alarm monitoring is also much cheaper than traditional CCTV and alarm subscriptions.
@@zaneclifton thank you for the info. My biggest problem was they didn't let me know that before we purchased it. That's really my only complaint. I ended up keeping it and I'm going to pay the subscription, they just need to let people know before purchasing.
@@Josh-yv3yf my question was asking you if they actually had a one time payment thing? I just asked customer support and they said they’ve never heard of the $299 one time payment thing.
No worries, it's a tricky decision because it does offer you a lot - but it's annoying because some of those features should be available for free IMO.
Here's the third and best option, don't buy Ring! Eufy is just as good of a product and records everything locally on a micro SD card inside your house. That way anybody even steals the camera you still have the footage. WHY pay Ring $100 a year??? This guy acts as if ring is your only option.
Yep, I'm currently working on a review of 5 smart indoor cameras (from Ring, Wyze, Eufy, Tapo and SwitchBot). Eufy, Tapo and SwitchBot all have support for local storage, I.e. recording to a local SD card without requiring a subscription. I'll cover this more when the video is released, but it's good to know that non-Amazon owned cameras tend to offer more features without a subscription.
I have a LOREX camera system that gives me limited FREE cloud recordings so I cant see why RING cant give me 7 days free or something I appreciate $3pm is less than Starbucks but you just dont expect a security doorbell to not record anything - thats a stupid product IMHO! "Oh Yeah we took a video of the person that tried to get into your house while you were driving to the shops but you cant watch it or share it with law enforcement as you didn't subscribe"
They do "assisted monitoring" here in the UK. It's not as good - I believe it just contacts a predefined list of contacts you specify. They don't take control and ring the police for you, IIRC.
Ring is junk. They never work when you’re away from the home. The app is junk. Even if you have a fast upload speed the Ring devices still fail to connect. The product is over priced junk. Even with the plan it still doesn’t work. When it does, it’s delayed
Sorry to hear of your experience. They're definitely overpriced for what they are. I personally like the app compared to some of Ring's competitors, but I understand where you're coming from.
I can tell you from a few years experience these cameras are pretty much useless. I have ring cameras all around my house and have had people walk around and never get picked up on any of the cameras. The cameras go off as they pass them but by the time the camera turns itself on the person is already past it. This has happened many times with the propane delivery guy and the septic guy, etc. I have all of my settings on the camera set at the most sensitive to open as soon as possible. But as I say the camera wake up time is just to laggy. Also when the camera first wakes up the actual video is way to blurry to actually see anything. I pay $10 per month for the subscription. I highly recommend you look into a different alarm system such as ADT, etc. 🤠
Thanks for the detailed comment, and I agree entirely that Ring cameras are nowhere near as reliable as some other systems. It's fine because Ring market them as though they're premium security products, but in reality the only thing that's premium is the price 😕
You do if you want the recording and other features I mention. Or you can ignore the subscription plan, but then you're mainly limited to live view mode and real time notifications.
I bought a eufy doorbell cam. No fees. Records on an sd card. price was less than the ring doorbell. videos I,ve watched say video quality and features are the same. If not better. I would not have bought the ring if i knew that it was almost worthless. Unless you pay a yearly fee. Tired of being ripped off by ring.
Yeah, Ring sucks. No point in wasting my time instaling a camera if I contain even obtain video footage for police. They want to charge for a subscription and that's ridiculous since they don't give an option for recording locally to an NVR like I do with my other IP cameras at home. I just needed one by my doorbell but apparently the RING one will be getting removed soon in place of one that can record locally or to a cloud storage that is NOT owned by RING.
i think us as a society shouldn’t be so comfortable with just taking what is offered, we get offered home security, but then have to pay a monthly subscription for basic ass features. Here i am thinking i got a good home monitoring system from a decent company, Ring is a major joke now in my eyes i barley found out it was owned by amazon, and then it all made sense, will eventually switch to something else, screw you bazos!
I agree that we're collectively too willing to buy these sort of products that we can't properly control. It does show why proper local control (without any monthly fees) gives us real power. Hopefully an increasing number of companies can offer this going forward.
I got an 💡, how about I don’t pay for the subscription at all. & when I get a Motion notification.. I will start a screen record on my iPhone if it is needed 😏
I don’t know what setting you picked for the sound of your voice but it’s really freaking creepy I would imagine lots of people just come and go and don’t subscribe maybe you should change it to a human sound 🙈🤷♀️
Fair play 😅 I can't fault your logic 🙈 Edit: but seriously, Ring have just hiked their subscription prices and this proves why cloud subscription plans can be a big problem.
Ring is a rip-off. Pay all that money for your device's. Then you have to pay a monthly subscription for it's most basic functions.

I have an Echo device and the live video will only come up when the doorbell button is pushed. The video does not come up when motion is detected.
Is that Echo listed as an announcement device within the Alexa app? You will need 'motion annoucements' turned on for that camera/doorbell too.
I just realized this after purchasing....but yes the convenience and functionality off the app are worth $3 IMO. Great video.
I agree entirely, you get so much for the $3 per month that it does seem worth it.
We also have the Arlo system and are very happy with it. I would have went with Arlo again if I had known that you have to pay for the subscription.
My trial is expired, but my app still works as usual. I receive alerts. It still records. I can review recordings, adjust settings, watch live feed, download videos, and communicate via the apps neighbors section. If I get all of this for free I feel as though I have no reason to purchase the subscription.
Wait, what?
Now, say,"This is the BBC."
😆😆
Hi nice video but I have one quick question: Is there a free trial for the subscription when you first set up your doorbell? The way you explained the scenario it sounded like it but just clarifying, thanks
Hi, thanks. Yes you should get a free trial for the first month (assuming it's a brand new doorbell, not a second hand model etc) 🙂
@@SmartHomePoint ok that's great thank you
This guy kept adding words to a quick response like he was writing a 1000 word essay.
Lol exactly I fast forwarded through most of it.
Is there a better device to buy other then ring?
Excellent video information. Thanks you. It’s $3.99 a month per doorbell now in the USA. Since I have two I did the discount plan for $39.99 per doorbell - so about $90 per year.
Thanks, glad you found this helpful 🙂 Yep good point about the price rises, I can't edit previous videos but it's good to know when/why to get the discount plan.
Definitely a ripoff now though for us...Google nest is better
Thank you that was very helpful. Now I can make an educated decision. I was gifted base model kit, and I have yet to add cameras.
I bought my roomates ring doorbell camera when he moved out. now i cant get a hold of him and they stopped the app that i was signed into. i cant use it now and customer service does nothing. anything i can do?
There is a process in place for this - you should be able to add the device under your own Ring account (within the app), then Ring should automatically get in touch with your roomate:
support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360038010351-I-would-like-to-take-over-or-change-ownership-of-a-Ring-device
But it is a difficult issue for sure, if you and Ring are unable to get hold of him. I'd suggest to try the in-app approach, but failing that, reiterate to Ring customer support that the old owner had gone AWOL. If you have written proof that you bought the old doorbell, that should help your case too
How can I get to protect plan n it’s not showing in my ring app
In your opinion what's the best video doorbell without subscription as my subscription is due again. Big up from Scotland 👍
Hello *waves towards Scotland*. I'd probably say the Eufy doorbell. It has a higher resolution than Ring, and supports local storage.
If I had known that there was going to be these shenanigans I would’ve never bought RING.
I would like to kn why my card will not take to pay for my protect plan after spending 200.00 for my ring door bell can u answer that?
I'm not sure sorry. Maybe try a different card? I've never had any issues paying for the Protect Plan to be honest. 😔 I hope you can get it sorted.
I love my Ring just watch the entire video just for the voice
Thanks for the info
Haha thanks, glad you liked it (... either the video, or the voice 😅🙈)
One MAJOR disadvantage is that when a sensor is triggered there is no alert sent as a text message to phones....only email. For example, water/freeze sensor is triggered by a leaking water heater...user does not immediately get a text message on phone...only 12 hours later discovers the problem when reading emails.
Ugh yes, that's a pretty major flaw I agree. 😕
@Voragon That's a nice idea for sure, I'll have to dig into that approach more.
I just purchased a ring outdoor spotlight camera. How do I see snapshots? I can’t find the setting. Thanks
Subscriptions start low but with time increase.
Watching this a year later and thanking you for making it clear. Just got a ring doorbell #4, and have 19 more days before my trial protect plan ends. Will definitely be subscribing at end of trial.
Glad you hear you found this video helpful 🙂👍
Hes got a video on how to route ring camera feeds to local storage so you dont have to pay the sub...
@@Merc399 Oh thanks for letting me know. Will look for it. 😃
Wont be buying Ring
Now it's $20 for monitoring unless you're grandfathered in. You could just get Eufy cams and not pay anything to record locally.
Yep, Eufy is definitely a good alternative tbf. Even Simplisafe (who were previously more expensive) now seem a decently priced alternative.
Arlo is free as well unless you need more than 4 cameras.
Spot on perfect explanation. Thank you!!!!!
Question! If there is a power down and no Wi-Fi at home, can I get push notification without paying a monthly fee?
It's definitely frustrating from Ring 😔 Kasa, Eufy, Wyze and a few others offer better features without requiring a subscription.
So maybe check the RSSI under Device Health first of all
My trial is not up I have 22 days left but I get that same black line no recorded only when someone. Come on step
Would be cheaper to buy a security cam and place it close to the door for recording . also alot offer the same features without subscription.
Mine stop showing live after the 28 days. Not payed yet though is that normal do you have to pay
This was super helpful and all the information I needed plus more! Thank you :)
No worries, glad you liked it 👍
Super helpful! Thank you.
You're welcome, glad you found it helpful 🙂
hello, I have a small question: which is the benefit of having subscriptions when you don't have, neither will buy ring camera's? I am equipped with nest for camera's. Thanks alot
Hello, It depends on the specific camera maker to be honest. Reolink and Eufy (for example) would pretty much fine without a subscription. For Nest, you do lose a lot without a subscription. I have a blog post which goes into detail on the pros and cons of Nest without a subscription, if you're interested: www.smarthomepoint.com/nest-hello-without-subscription/
So when it says for one device for the subscription it means ring device not my phone can I download the app on like 2-3 phones and still use all the features ??
Great question, yes it's per device. So you could install the app multiple times, but still get the full paid-for features 👍
I wanna pay but don’t see a payment plan
@@SmartHomePointHow does a rapid mode app fix my ring Doorbell settings? I don't understand? Can you explain please?
Good question, sorry for the confusion! The Ring Rapid app will hopefully allow you to get notifications a bit quicker and view video faster too, but it won't help with the other issues you've been facing I agree.
@@SmartHomePoint Thank you for the explanation. I truly appreciate it. I will try it. I hope it works. Have an awesome weekend.
No worries, and you too 🙂
Its worth it to me. Your basically paying $3 a month for a security system.
Yes I agree, it seems pretty good value to me. $10 per month for an unlimited number of cameras and Ring alarm monitoring is also much cheaper than traditional CCTV and alarm subscriptions.
Or pay 299$ one time and get permanent coverage around your entire house. They make it dummy proof to install and you own it and your database forever
@@Josh-yv3yf There’s a one time payment option for the rings instead of getting on a subscription plan?
@@zaneclifton thank you for the info. My biggest problem was they didn't let me know that before we purchased it. That's really my only complaint. I ended up keeping it and I'm going to pay the subscription, they just need to let people know before purchasing.
@@Josh-yv3yf my question was asking you if they actually had a one time payment thing? I just asked customer support and they said they’ve never heard of the $299 one time payment thing.
Good video and thanks. I only have the doorbell so far and need to decide in about18 days
True, all fair points - you're right that Eufy, Wyze, Reolink (who I recently reviewed) and Annke etc are all good alternatives.
I just canceled Ring and bought a Eufy 2K Doorbell camera.
RIng is basically useless without paying for subscription.
I agree, for most people it doesn't make sense to own Ring without a subscription 😔
Just found this out tonight. Fuck Ring for this . I’m going to find a better option.
It's frustrating for sure; they certainly don't make it overly clear 😔
Thanks you helped massively, so clear and precise and some of the replies on here , thanks to all. Looking for something else now .
Are there cameras that don't require a f ing subscription?
I agree entirely, Ring are very stingy here IMO. 😔
is the professional monitoring available in thr UK?
What do you expect from a several hundred dollar device? oh of course they want you to pay more....yup. Love getting bent over for more money.
True 😂 I just can't work out why Ring devices don't support local storage/RTSP...
Eufy, Eufy, Eufy video doorbell. No subscription. Local storage.
Can't argue with that - no subscription plus real local storage is a big benefit of Eufy.
How much will it cost a month basic plan for two cameras?
Now that the price has increased, it would be $8 per month in America or £7 per month in the UK (I'm rounding up a penny/cent in each case).
Do I have to pay every month for ring camera?
You do if you want the recording and other features I mention. Or you can ignore the subscription plan, but then you're mainly limited to live view mode and real time notifications.
Thank you. Not a chance I'm getting one now...
It's an annoying business approach for Ring, for sure. 😕
Spot on
Thanks 🙂
I bought a eufy doorbell cam. No fees. Records on an sd card. price was less than the ring doorbell. videos I,ve watched say video quality and features are the same. If not better. I would not have bought the ring if i knew that it was almost worthless. Unless you pay a yearly fee. Tired of being ripped off by ring.
Update. Now it’s 4/month per device 🙄
Ugh yes, their price hike frustrated me 😔 I wish I could edit existing videos, but thanks for the comment highlighting the price rise.
Does the government, police, CIA, DHS, FBI, Interpol, M-16, Mossad, all get access to your videos!!!!?
Not by default no, although Ring would have to comply with court orders/search warrants etc if provided by one.
I found this the hard way!!! I thought I didn’t need a monthly service with these. 😕
Sorry to hear it, they don't make it clear 😕
Same, a fckn emergency happened and I can’t even see how it happened!
It's not good at all 😔 Sorry to hear your experience.
It is useless without the subscription. Had I known this I would not have purchased the camera.
Yep that seems to be the case for many people (me included) 😕
What is it in pounds
It time to return!
It should have an integrated microSD or something like that to store that. Having it on the cloud makes no sense
Yep I agree, this would be a lot better for sure 😔👍
Storing it for a couple days should at least be free, without the recordings the camera is kinda useless...
Ring fucked up big time. Fuck em.
I got an 💡, how about I don’t pay for the subscription at all. & when I get a Motion notification.. I will start a screen record on my iPhone if it is needed 😏
Hah yes, that will also work well (unless you're asleep 🙈)
@@SmartHomePoint 🧐 … I buy subscription now

I don’t know what setting you picked for the sound of your voice but it’s really freaking creepy I would imagine lots of people just come and go and don’t subscribe maybe you should change it to a human sound 🙈🤷♀️
I'm actually a DeepFake AI. 😱😱😱
Ty this was very helpful!!
No worries, glad it was helpful to you 🙂
Thanks for this video
No worries, hope it helped you 🙂
I will never pay for a cloud subscription plan. Ever. Bye.
Fair play 😅 I can't fault your logic 🙈
Edit: but seriously, Ring have just hiked their subscription prices and this proves why cloud subscription plans can be a big problem.
Everytbing is a subscription now, gets to be exhausting.
