Incredible tribute to both Lemmy and the soldiers who have marched off to defend their homelands throughout history. Lemmy wrote this song after watching a documentary about the 1916 battle of the Somme, during which a WW1 veteran broke down talking about holding his friend as he died. A tremendously emotional song that tears out your heart. RIP Lemmy, you are missed. Great reaction, stay safe, God Bless, keep rocking.

There's a ton of references to other Sabaton songs in the video too.
There's two guys dressed as the 101st from Screaming Eagles, two ancient Greek guys from Sparta, the lady in the alley is Night Witches, the car they walk past is from Sarajevo, the Black soldier is from Hellfighters, the guy on horseback is Robert the Bruce from Blood of Bannockburn. At 1:40 you can see a Smoking Snakes patch on the guy's arm and the two biplanes and the bomber at the end are Tge Red Baron and No Bullets Fly respectively.
The costumes worn by the drummer and Tommy are from the Royal guard and a couple of soldiers are referred to as "Sgt York" and "Lt Murphy" which are mostly likely Alvin York from 82nd all the way and Adie Murphy from To hell and back.
Finally the bus at the very beginning is a Motörhead reference, as "No sleep till Hammersmith" is the album that made them famous

The song No Bullets Fly is about a B17, the bomber in the vid is an Avro Lancaster, so maybe they are going to do a song about the Dambusters, which would be cool.

Just to elaborate on the car they walk past, it's in reference to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo and is considered one of the key events that led to World War I.

The lady in the ally is from the British ATS. There are no Night Witches references in this video.

I love how they included Motorhead in the video since this a cover of their song.

I would respectfully say a tribute, far beyond just a cover.

"It's like going to history class and the teacher is not boring as hell." YOU made my day buddy! Lemmy was a genius writing this piece. When you listen to the original song, it sounds like a funeral march. And that's what this battle was, a march to their own funeral for 1 million men.

Interesting that you thought Lemmy would have written a book called "1916". So you didn't know the 1991 Motörhead original version at all? I'm a bit baffled - but on the other hand, I can understand it: That was more than 30 years ago (when I was still a teenager and you guys probably too), and as Americans you obviously wouldn't have heard of Motörhead back then. But they've been around since the 1970s.

🇫🇮❤Great reaction to a song that doesn't spare any emotion & effort to make a great music video, although for me wars are a fools game & only arms manufacturers benefit from them.

Sorry but your history of the 101st is not at all correct... 101st was formed in November 1918 too late to see war service in WWI. It reformed in 1921 as a regular Army unit. It was not disbanded in 1942 as it jumped into Normandy in 1944 and was active in Europe past the end of WWII in 1945. It existed as a training unit during the Korean War and a permanent unit at Ft. Campbell from 1956 to this day. Hope this helps with the history.

3:51 when the girl looks up to the sky, did you notice the Nightwitches, the soviet regiment of young female pilots who never were allowed to fly in formation.
Great song with a important messege.
    Thanks Lemmy for writing it.
    RIP ❤

Those aren't the nightwitches. They didn't fly bombers, they flew old biplanes.

Any of US Soldier was not in Somme... The youngest authenticated British soldier in World War I was twelve-year-old Sidney Lewis, who fought at the Battle of the Somme in 1916

To put the loss in some sort of perspective - in the 20 years of Vietnam that saw US casualties hit 57,000, the British lost the same number in just 6 months. 19,000 in 3 hours!

    • @baldingbee5403
      @baldingbee5403 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Just a correction there - the British lost this many in a single day. There were 57,000 dead British soldiers by the end of the first day of The Somme. There were 19,000 lost by midday.

Sorry guys unsubscribed. The video showed soldiers from the Greeks through to 101st Airborne like Chilli Dog said and many others in between all were fodder for the weapons of the time. I had two Great Uncles who fought in France, Uncle George with the British (he returned minus a hand) and Uncle Edward who had emigrated to Australia fought with the Australian Imperial Forces (his remains were never found). My Grandfather was the youngest and lied about his age so he could join his brother in the AIF, but was rejected due to a suspected deadly heart condition (obviously a bad diagnosis). My end point being you don't seem to treat these types of songs with the gravitas they deserve. That's it from me, good luck in the future.
