I hear a lot of people complain about this, but I decorated every room of this prefab. You do have to pick and choose a bit, but you can totally decorate the whole thing and make it look great.
Same here. My main camp used the 4 floor prefab. It's completely decorated with most of my resource collectors together in the attic. The bigger ones are outside but I even have the porch fully decorated. I honestly don't understand why some people say they can't decorate it. It's so big I even have two full decorated kitchens on the first floor. I have a room in the second floor filled with Nuka cola stuff that's set up as a bedroom for the Nuka cola ally. Every room is completely decorated head to toe. My budget is at 99% full
You can decorate it just fine. It saves a bunch of budget to begin with since you don't need to place floors or stairs or walls. You just can't use expensive items like turrets and certain resource generators. For example, I did not use my chicken coop since I already had a cow producing resources. I also only used a mirelurk steamer, since it provides my choice meat. Instead of placing 10 meat producing resource items that could each allow me to place 10 wall décor items, I chose the one important to my build, and still get to enjoy all the wall décor and lights. Another thing to consider is location and lighting. You only have 50 lights, so if you chose to use certain light up letters it might eat into your lighting budget. There are floor items that produce light and don't use the lighting budget, you can make due with some of those if the environment is suited for it. If you intend to mega furnish this and have every resource generator possible, yes, you will ruin into constraints. But it is absolutely possible to fully decorate this if you use some simple logic with your camp budget. On the other hand,... .... Would I like more camp budget? YES.
I'll definitely take more LIGHT budget. Well, you saw my decorating style. There was nothing fancy there. if I can't decorate the whole house like a normal real life house, what's the point?
I’ve actually a have mine fully furnished, minus one of the small rooms, with the iron mountain prefab as my workshop and store, and other outdoor items… ally, food, etc. I’m quite proud, I think My camp looks very nice, I put it in best builds. you just need to be very careful on your budget.. and it can be done nicely.
I have stuff on every floor, plus an attached greenhouse and smaller prefab. Top floor is all workbench workroom. The floor below has a master bedroom, guest room, bathroom. But… it’s not packed, complex, or as visually interesting as your first floor.
Yeah, all your points about lighting and everything is spot on. I was absolutely disappointed I couldn’t decorate it as I wanted, but rather to the bare minimum to be functional. Another item I’ve run into with this prefab: depending on where you place it on the map, the top floor may be unbuildable (I’ve learned if I use this prefab, to go to the top floor first and make sure I can build)
only place where putting this thing out outside your shelter isn't a headache is white spring on the golf greens. the light green area, not the rough. I just don't bother after the first two floors. One interesting thing you can do is lock your collectron in one of the rooms, for example for farming presents. added layer of protection. the green is mostly protected. its just that my fave spot is a hop, charge and a lunge away from a feral ghoul spawn point so stuff gets rowdy even with the guard robot patrol that goes right by it. At least its not like that time where I camped in skyline valley, putting my iron mountain anvil on top of a waterfall with a commanding view of slumbermill motel. When I camped there every 5 minutes radstags would attack my camp. I ran out of the components I needed to repair my turrets pretty quickly. that's part of why after seeing oskapt's video on his defense platforms, i built attack towers that can only be reached with a jetpack. because f*ck radstags. The jerks!
There's a lot of places on main roads thatre really good to place this. You'd never see an actual house built in the middle of a golf course. Super unimersive. There is a lot of ways to build a camp at the golf course that look realistic but this prefab just shouldn't be used there. Edit: I'm with you about the rad stags. Fuuuuuuuu*ck them lol
My Raider camp, just on the hill north of Milepost 0, is having a similar issue: turkeys a pack of 3 every time I load into a server. On top of that, the location is hit by lightning. Side note: Do Bethesda want us to build in the new area or not? No matter where I put down a camp, it was struck with lightning.
@@SilencedLamb69 It was more like "oh my god this is huge, where am I gonna put this thing?!" then "oh, there's snaptail reeds and a nice pond, I'll plop it right here next to the creek to put my purifiers. also from a roleplaying standpoint eventually that golf course is gonna get turned into living space/farm space. though i agree that giant house is not a good fit. Cottages, trailers, mini houses, toolsheds (like the she shed Noodle reviewed) are more likely. Also rebuilding an office's insides. Like... I write fanfiction, in my resident evil stories Sherry, Jake and Piers just take an old office they find in the ruins of Edonia and renovate it to be a residence. Its not like there's anyone in that bombed out city that's going to say 'no'. I imagine fallout would be very similar. "oh big grassy open space? screw golf, gonna graze brahmin there. "Yeah that "white trash" trailer you poo pood because you're rich and own a mansion? I'm putting it right on your snooty golf course that could have been farmland if not for your rich asses. If you don't like it kiss my missile turrets."

I was able to decorate every room of my Woodland Retreat, and still had enough budget to build an outbuilding with a Fusion Genny, a pergola covered deck with a Hot Tub, and an Old West Facade "Village" to house my vendor, my Sympt-o-matic, and candy and popcorn machines. The big problem I have with the prefab is it's so tall, anything above floor level of the attic comes up as "outside the build area" so I can't light the attic or put any posters/paintings/wall decor up there.
So when the Woodland Retreat first came out I was debating getting it. What finally convinced me to get it was seeing players had managed to decorate on every floor (saw some really nice builds) and there were more than a few comments saying they still "had a lot budget left over, that is why they love the pre fabs." So I bought it with that in mind and decided to first make a big, very decorated pool/garden area when I notice over half my budget is already gone and I hadn't even decorated inside my house yet lol. In the end I only had enough to decorate the first and half of my second floor. It's still a cute house but I roped off the top floors.
Allegedly your budget goes up as your level goes up. You may have seen builds from ultra-high-level players who have more budget than you. Or they may have been on PC with some crazy mod that lets them do more with less.
I play on Xbox I am over level 1200. I was able to completely decorate every room with a theme and place every vehicle in the game outside as a home auto shop.
@@Gamer_Aviator I've genuinely never heard of this before, where did you hear this? My character that built this is over level 1k. I'm also on console & I've not heard of a mod that can do that on PC. I've seen many of this prefabs decorated fully on console, I think I just went too overboard outside and some players exaggerated or they used less stuff than I do to decorate so they have some left over budget.
I managed to use almost every room and the only space that goes undecorated is the attic. Most of the rooms split up workshop and resource items. I turned the room by the stairs to a simple bar for my ally, my kitchen is dedicated mostly to food generators. I have 2 living rooms though which I think I should change one to a dining room. But I don't have the time or energy for that right now. I just split their functions up as a music room and a tv/radio room. I have enough budget for some turrets and a couple vendors and storage on the porch. It isn't fancy, I don't have the clean kitchen, or functional bathroom items sadly. But I made use of most of the space that's there.
Let us not forget, that unless you're really lucky with module placement, the house is sooo tall you can't actually put ceiling lights on the top floor. (Outside of build area.) Same goes for wall lights and wall décor. You can only put wall décor about halfway up the attic walls. Annnd yes, running out of build budget is a thing with that prefab. Simplified things by using the new wooden place anywhere divider walls to block off most of the hallway on the 3rd floor, past the door to the balcony and block the top of the stairs to the attic. Still ran out of budget, of course. lol! OH! The light post in the Christmas holiday miniatures is also a free light source that doesn't count towards lighting budget. Cheers!
I wish they would either A. Lower all item costs to the minimum cost, so we can place more...or B. Give us an increased budget working with the current system, of around 25%. I am always short in my permanent Haunted House on a graveyard hill camp...Its 3 stories I built right next to that cemetery above the Deathclaw Cave, up from the Pumpkin House...even like 10 more items placed I would be happy lol...I am constantly deleting a few items and trying a couple others... Heck...even make the budget increase tied directly to Fallout First...
You can furnish it completly all the way to the top, inside and out. I have no more room inside, since every surface is full.Going to have to sacrifice something once I get my dog. BUT if we could get a little bit more budget, so we could place another prefab or build something small next to it... that would be perfect.

I managed to put a little something in each room of mine. Although I should mention I only have one crafting bench out which is the tinker bench. The rest are in the shelter or you can go nextdoor to the train station and use the bench in there. I would like to be able to shove a few more items into mine cause I see room for improvement but camp buget is tight and I don't want to max it all the way out.
I am looking forward to seeing someone complete this challenge since I have never seen anything above the second floor decorated in one of these homes. I know the Wildwood only costs 3 FUs (always funny typing that) but I'll assume this pre-fab is around 45 which obviously eats into the budget. Maybe if all lights and turrets are excluded, and you stick with the cheapest FU units, it might get done. Regardless, good luck and thanks for the video.
I would be interested in getting my hands on that mansion if I was able, as I'm quite a fan of decorating in Fallout. It poses an interesting challenge of being so large, so as you would likely need to go with a minimalist design for the interior. While it would be sad, almost as sad as the budget for camps, you can still probably make some good choices design-wise while restricting your budget use. The lighting would be the hardest part, but it's all about placement at that point, and could definitely use up to two lights (mostly dependent on the light choice itself) to have a full room lit up.
I have mine fully decorated along with a barn and watch tower outside.I even have a theater in the attic on one side and store my holiday stuff lol on the other side. I took a few minor things down for more Christmas stuff ...like my brewing set up I the upstairs of my barn. I will send you a friend request later tonight or tomorrow evening....I'm cleaning and getting ready to host Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow ...blah
Cool! Can't wait to see it!!! Shoot me a private message on Discord as well. I have a family dinner tomorrow too, but we can coordinate something for later. discord.gg/xx8jMcVEj2
I couldnt move my mansion because the game freezes , I barely got it placed at all. And it was such a b**** to put down it was 10% off the camp's buildable area. Don't recommend if you're ocd about prefect placement. You won't ever get it exactly where you think it can go. The mansion really needs help. Bethesda let me put it where I want I should be able to place it anywhere non-marked locations but I can't because it's broken. The game's always completely broken when trying to place down prefabs. I had to jump in game and jiggle the camera to just place this stupid thing.
I was able to well decorate every room and the attic. Still have some budget left, maybe because i used few powered lights? Went with candlelight mostly.
Personally when the prefab first came out i was able to setup a nice farmhouse near aaronholt with the barn prefab as well. For my workshop. I agree completely on the build limits and have always felt they should be higher but i also understand that bethesda doesnt want to overload the weaker pc systems people may have to detract from the gaming experience. I found with this its purely a matter of being discretionary in the decorating.
I manually build my 2-storey house. Spacey and fits all my crafting tables and resources within walking steps. Hate prefabs because of the little stairs and rooms. Hard to move around.
I think you have great skill and or patience to be able to pull off some of these builds with the janky build system we have. However, for the love of the Almighty, please get a different mask.
If you go to the fallout first private world where you can edit your budget, you will probably most likely be able to furnish it from top to bottom plus outside, but you have to have fallout first to go to that world and you can make the camp budget massive
Camp budget issues have been a problem since launch, TBH - The prefabs are worse, as you pointed out, because they, themselves, take up less budget than using the set pieces. While not perfect, I wonder if one solution would be to introduce pre-decorated pieces, (like desks or tables with clutter all over them as a single object, or workbenches with an integrated stash box)...
Yeah it looks awesome, but not really my style. Since I'm a complete power armor fanatic, I tend to focus my camps on BoS themes. Now it took me a while to find my current spot, and I really happened to find it by accident, but I was able to set up 2 BoS scout towers, 3 shelters, the armory, plus a greenhouse and while it's a bit bare boned on the decorating, I'm happy with how it's turned out.
When I visit someone's camp and they are using this I dread exploring all four floors to find the shop in the Attic the stairs are not the friendliest thing to use I usually end up hopping off the balcony to get out I was thinking about doing a massive build with this in a custom server
I built this in the toxic wasteland shelter and decked it out 100% plus had enough space to build every other prefab, so essentially, I made a prefab city using the city blocks as a guide. Lol
OMG, that would be so cool. I'm actually thinking of recreating this house myself, but smaller, but there's no way I can get all that texture and detail in the windows.
@@Gamer_Aviator I only use my shelters to do dailys. I have one at my camp I put all of my workbenches but if the budget was increased I would not need a shelter.
you can go beyond the budget limit until the message pops up. dont post a video on how you do it. i agree they need to add more camp budget instead of just additional camp slots. we need both! more camp budget it way over due.
I have this house and I ran into the same problem you did. not enough budget to put much in the house. it is extremely hard to place. another problem I ran into to save on the budget I was trying to delete some pictures off the wall and I accidently deleted the house. so then I had to delete every thing I had near the house in order to place it again because it keep intersecting with every thing I had built around it. I almost had to rebuild my whole camp.
I just heard the end where you challenge us to fully furnish this. I Use this in my main camp. Its not built to be shown off but all rooms and halways and the porch are decorated. Its just set up like a house would be. but if youre on xbox i could definitely send you a quick run through of it. Let me know! If sending through Xbox doesnt work im sure theres some way i could send it to ya. I dont use discord so no clue how to use it. Is the discord a free thing? I'll join if its free
I'm PlayStation, but you can share pics if you want. I would LOVE to see it. Please share them in Discord, either in the main channel or privately: discord.gg/xx8jMcVEj2
If i join the discord im going to share a video of this prefab and what ive got in my camp its not the budget that the issue its the close of everything else because food items are the price of turrets and just having one corn, one tato, one carrot, and one razorgian is stupid expensive, because i have six rooms done up and well thanks to the bad black Friday sells im buying the daily items for cheap until ive spent my atoms.
Yes, that place is so bad. The top floor is higher than the vertical build limit on mine, so I can't even place anything from 4 feet up to the ceiling; it's outside the build limit.
Holy cow, I didn't even know THAT. I didn't make it that high yet. That's really bad. Thanks for letting me know. I will definitely mention that on a later show.
7 years still crap.. my camp is maxed, lets go down to my shelter, got a lovely water pool, lets put a collector, no, lets put a purified water no no no, o lets make some beer, o know i need to run up top get the ingredients. Got them o i cannot put the fermented beer inti🎉 the next stage, i need to run up top again. O lets make all my food for the day, o yes lets run up top first, got all lets run down and make my food, dame it i got no purified water lets run up top again got it let run down to the pool, now lets put the extra into the crio freezer o dame i forgot its up top..leys run up top...ya good 7 years later camp build limited..

I really doubt it looks as good as her first floor
That's my face :D hahahaha This is literally how people know me. Not gonna happen. Sorry. I hope you like my voice better than my face hehehehe
@@Gamer_Aviator I see that face everywhere so I think they know you by your name 😅
If you go to the fallout first private world where you can edit your budget, you will probably most likely be able to furnish it from top to bottom plus outside, but you have to have fallout first to go to that world and you can make the camp budget massive
I did this in my private world. :)
I love that one and was able to get it pretty much decorated. Though a higher budget would allow me to go a bit crazy on it :D
Can't wait to see it! Share pics!
I've fully decorated it by avoiding building any high budget items - resource gatherers, crafting benches, etc. But yeah, budget needs to go up.
Stop buying these items so they will update things like that
Yeah it looks awesome, but not really my style.
I gave up and switched to the Anvil.... I tried multiple times to furnish it.
Yes! The anvil is the best! I love mine. I gave it some add-on and dividers upstairs, and it's perfect.
@Gamer_Aviator I put a mask museum in the blue railroad car outside the main house too... plenty of options now that I didn't have before
Do it in a custom server
When I visit someone's camp and they are using this I dread exploring all four floors to find the shop in the Attic the stairs are not the friendliest thing to use I usually end up hopping off the balcony to get out I was thinking about doing a massive build with this in a custom server
I can fill the whole house. I don't know what is killing your budget. I always get a full workshop in the attic and the rest pretty full of decor.
Really? Do accept my challenge then. I would love to see it.
I hated that thing. The ground floor rooms are impossibly strange.
I built this in the toxic wasteland shelter and decked it out 100% plus had enough space to build every other prefab, so essentially, I made a prefab city using the city blocks as a guide. Lol
That was always my dream when I bought my first shelter - to have a prefab city. That's really great that you did it.
I wonder if they could offer a "truncated" version of that mansion - maybe just the 1st 2 floors or something...
OMG, that would be so cool. I'm actually thinking of recreating this house myself, but smaller, but there's no way I can get all that texture and detail in the windows.
@@Gamer_Aviator What we need is an upper floor that is sort of like the porch pieces, as well as a modular spiral staircase set...
Yeah blow off the top like a nuke blast wave hit it
Heh, you put your woodland retreat in the same general spot I did.
That's because it's only place flat enough other than the golf course :D
I want Bethesda to take all the space they created with shelters and add that to the camp budget and get rid of shelters. I just want to build!
Now THAT's a great idea. I don't use my shelters at all, other than for these demo videos.
@@Gamer_Aviator I only use my shelters to do dailys. I have one at my camp I put all of my workbenches but if the budget was increased I would not need a shelter.
I love the house since i use it in my camp
It's gorgeous! Do you have yours fully furnished?
@Gamer_Aviator not yet but I'm working on it
Please share pics when it's done.
@@Gamer_Aviator I will as soon as I can
I wish we could change flooring and wall paper
I decorated mine. I think it worked. Do t know how I could show anyone though.
I just want to change the wall papers in it! The ones that come with the prefab SUCK!!
You need the Drive-in Dolly outfit. :)
Ahh yes. Is that the checkerboard pink one? I'll go get it right now. I have the pink and turquoise one also.
@@Gamer_Aviator It's only available in a bundle. The only reason I haven't bought it yet.

Why not ? NoodlepantzZzzz😂😂😂
I built this in my shelter, I’m not sure what to put into it yet
I had a really difficult time even starting to decorate this. It's just so much open space. If you focus on one room at a time, you'll get it done.
Depending on where you put it, the top floor might be too high to decorate.
For the regular world it's kinda of waste. But if fallout 1st it's worth it. You just expand the build part and you're good.
We can make it our strong justification for Bethesda to INCREASE THE BUDGET.
PLEADE BETHESDA, INCREADE THE BUDGET!!
yes. PLEASE!!! We have so many cool things to build with. It's the light budget especially that kills me. Why do we even have a light budget?
There is to many rooms to decorate definitely not the best prefab just To Huge 🙄
you can go beyond the budget limit until the message pops up. dont post a video on how you do it. i agree they need to add more camp budget instead of just additional camp slots. we need both! more camp budget it way over due.
The problem isn't a prefab, the problem is too small camp budget
Exactly my point! We ned bigger budgets, or they need to not make buildings that we can't use with the budget that we're given.
Amazing video
Thank you so much! I do still LOVE this building, and will keep decking it out. Maybe Shelter IS the way to go?
I decorated mine just fine, but im not going crazy either soo
That’s what she said
I have this house and I ran into the same problem you did. not enough budget to put much in the house. it is extremely hard to place. another problem I ran into to save on the budget I was trying to delete some pictures off the wall and I accidently deleted the house. so then I had to delete every thing I had near the house in order to place it again because it keep intersecting with every thing I had built around it. I almost had to rebuild my whole camp.
OMG, I can't tell you how many times I accidentally deleted my prefabs. It's always heartbreaking.
Why impose a build budget, then offer additional items for sale in the atom shop!
Amen!

Never said it was :D I specifically say that it shows up pretty often in the Atomic Shop and name all the ways that it can be sold. ;)
