Fishing solo in a 420 Quintrex renegade for bluefin tuna over 40 miles offshore out of Bermagui, NSW. Sorry about the wind noise ill have it sorted on the next one.
Dude that's awesome. A lot of fisherman don't realise how difficult it can be to nail a good to big size gamefish solo and i say that with total respect to them and you. I'm sure there would have been a few tough moments edited out . I've caught a few striped marlin solo over here in NZ in 5.3 m boat but a goal of mine is to get a Bluefin during our next run. Mate, your out in a bloody dinghy . Well done.....40 mile offshore . Hats off to you. =)
Mate you played skipper, decky, camera man and fisho all in one video. That was seriously impressive. Im looking to do some similar solo trips on a 5.2 walk around so this was big inspiration!
Hi mate, maybe you should consider attaching a lanyard to yourself and the kill switch, hate to see ya go overboard and the boat motor off. Had some near misses in my early days solo billfishing. Cheers
Good Lord!! Just watching you made me tired. One of the best crazy solo fishing videos I've seen in a while. You were well prepared. Except for the wind on your mic. Good job dude.
well done mate! solid bloody effort, great to watch as well. bonus points for doing it in the 420!!! i have always wanted to take mine out to the fads but didn’t know how the boat would go outside... you’ve given me hope 😁
Pick your days, know how to drive a boat in shit weather and have a good bitey prop. I have a 2020 420 with a F60 tiller steer but I've balanced the boat perfectly for one person fuel/ gear/tackle and ice. (If the weight isn't equally spread the performance is terrible with the blade hull). I got caught in 44kmph+ south Easter blowing against the tide with some residual swell coming home once. Could of easily capsized if I didn't think about what I was doing and really work the tiller, throttle and trim. The boat does surf down waves nicely but its literally on a knife edge. The nose does have plenty of lift but going against a strong current you've got to use the throttle but slow down enough to not launch off the top of waves.... Always wear a life jacket, kill cord and have a personal epirb if solo. I've known of three 420s that have been flipped, generally coming back with a loaded esky 😆
@@chrisoh6627 keep the weight centred and aft of amidships i have a 5metre centrecab and have beendown the mine twice at harrington the first time we broached in a following sea my fault not trimming the motor out second time similar but in a washing machine sea with no pattern to the waves same place i just backed it up the wave and im still here ive been on the ocean all my life and it is always unpredictable and every boat is different regards😊😊😊
Mate in a tinny out wide you got balls man respect bro I would not have enough guts to go that far alone and on a small boat, your inspiring me to get out at least get some line out and hope for the best
Yeah mate, way to go!! Big effort battling all that gear plus the Tuna on your own. I have the 4.2 Renegade as well so you've proved what can be achieved when the conditions suit!!!!
Do you get water onto the deck from the transom cut out where the engine is? As I understand there are two versions of renegade and the different is the transom where the engine is.
I have a 4.5mt tinny and I’ve been wondering if it’s big enough to chase Tuna in. I guess you answered that question 😂 Here in Tassie, we can catch them 500mtrs offshore and I’ve been too nervous to try 😂
Its a rolling gaff insert and hang on to the rope if the fish rolls over it doesnt break your wrist you can mke one from 10or20mill stainless bar and an hour with an oxy torch cost less than a game supplies shop easy then out with the anlgle grinder and sharpen her up let it cool naturally dont quech it as it can make it brittle regards
Thanks mate! They’re hook’em 11 foot outriggers with the flush mount bases, rigged with 550lb mono cause the standard rigging kit they come with is pretty shit.
Awesome in general awesome! You’re very skilled , like do you have 4 arms? Huge fish!! But Looked like you almost took on water back side, when not moving forward or backing down on the fish, no bueno be careful of that. Small crafts sink that way
I have a 16ft or 4.8meter boat. I want to fish for tuna. In the summer I would have to run about 35 miles to reach tuna but I dont have the balls to do it.
@@BowieDibden good motor i run a 60bigfoot with a four blade 14x11spitfire holds the boat in a sea better than a 3blade and much better control and holeshot 6.5litres per hour 😊😊
Dude. Does it hurt having to carry those massive balls around.. I needed to see this video. I'm buying a boat and get worried I can't do everything I want in it. But this vid just shows even in average conditions it's not the boat that matters but the driver. Thanks legend. Nice fish too 🤙
Just to make sure going 40 miles offshore in a tinny solo wasn’t dangerous enough No life jacket! Incredible job catching and landing that great fish but hope a bunch of kids don’t try copying you.

Inspirational work mate! Beast of a fisherman ❤
To get all these shots including the underwater ones while fighting the fish is incredible, well done

Top effort bravo just goes to show you don’t need a 200k boat to heat out wide . You’ve got yourself a new subscriber!
But it sure helps

Excellent job bro. Doing it here in San Diego.
you definately keen going that far out in a renegade 420, I've got the 440 and dont think i'd do it
Do you get water onto the deck from the transom cut out where the engine is? As I understand there are two versions of renegade and the different is the transom where the engine is.
40 miles.....Hmm that tinny must be the actual gas tank.
Fantastic effort cobber i,m a fisho down in frankston and i know what its like to fish and catch solo in a boat that size..
Thats fukn awesome bro, top effort one out.
Thanks mate 👍
Good effort.

If you could have any boat similar to yours how would you configure it? Bigger motor? Different hull?
Mate your keen as all the way out there in that small tinny! What’s brand is it? Thanks for the video
Well done mate what size mercury?
Awsome fish mate!. 40 miles offshore in that tinny is insane. What are the travel times in a slop like that. Jees the man is keen!
Thanks mate! 2 hours on the way out It was a pretty good run, only the last 10 mile it started getting sloppy
Mad hustle bro in average cons 👌🎣👍
Thanks mate 🤙
YOU are brave .......
Hi.
Is the weight in kilograms ?
top 👌 effort.

Was that second gaff you used with the rope homemade? If not where you purchase? Thanks. Good fishing...

Expensive ones 😊
Living on the edge.
Hey mate, what size is your motor ?
How many ltrs of fuel do you use in a day ?
40hp.... saw it at the end
Geeze that would have been busy managing rods cameras etc kudos!
Can i ask why you dont have boat collars?
Awesome in general awesome! You’re very skilled , like do you have 4 arms? Huge fish!!
But Looked like you almost took on water back side, when not moving forward or backing down on the fish, no bueno be careful of that. Small crafts sink that way
I'd like to have that style of boat here in the States.
What engine does it have.
You got elephant balls Brother, be careful out there. We fish a small boat, but not that small.
I have a 16ft or 4.8meter boat. I want to fish for tuna. In the summer I would have to run about 35 miles to reach tuna but I dont have the balls to do it.
Are the blue fin tuna good eating?
Yes should bleed them first
What engine are you running ?
Mercury 40hp four stroke

@@BowieDibdenis it the CT or normal 40? Enough power?
U got some big pills going out that far in that boat good job
Mate I got a 460 renegade and don't have the stones to go that far offshore. 🤔🤔
Good excuse now to go buy some gear!!
Get a 3 to 4 day weather window and go in the middle. More horsepower and less weight the better. Carry extra fuel though...

That’s fucking sick as how do you rate your boat? I’ve just got the 460 renegade
Thanks mate, it’s an awesome vessel only wish it were a bit bigger, a 460 would be perfect 👌
@@BowieDibden nothing better then big fish small boats
Like fishing out of a bath tub 😅
Dang Man U gotta get that clicker off but nice catch
Fucking crazy mate but well done ballsy effort 👍👍👍 I'll be in bermi February got a slightly bigger boat would pay you to take me out

He had a waist mounted pfd on if you look 🙂
Yeah you should get a boat big enuf to match All the gear you're trying to fish
