- Legend at Arnolds Park in Arnolds Park, IA.
Designed by John Miller and constructed by Edward Pratt in 1930, this 63-foot-tall classic wooden coaster encircles all of Arnolds Park, giving a twisted and peppy ride experience. This coaster first opened as Speed Hound, later being named Giant Coaster in 1931. After standing but not operating for two seasons, the wooden coaster was reconstructed and re-opened in 1989. The ride’s original National Amusement Device (NAD) train was replaced by a new train from Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC). The current name Legend was introduced in 1996.
Arnolds Park was one of the exciting destinations during ParkHop24, with exclusive ride time on Legend! NAPHA thanks Arnolds Park for being a gracious host and for continued preservation of the Legend.
