Great video, I remember when my wife first came to Scotland when we were dating, i had to go to work one day so took her to my parents home so they could show her around and get to know each other, i will never forget walking into the room and hearing them argue about Tiananmen square, my wife thought it was somewhere in Russia because she thought the tanks looked Russian, and it was fake or a TV program, it took a lot of explaining about how the western and Chinese internets totally different and how the journalist's have freedom of speech here.

Way back when I was teaching mostly Chinese students I showed them a tape of Tiannamen and some were shocked but interested in leaning more. But it took only a few short years for those attitudes to change and I can't imagine now... Then again, that's old history to a teenager now...

And the sad thing is how many people have access to outside perspectives still shut themselves off from coming to understanding others.
A lot of us have preconceptions about the way the world is from the stories of our people which frame history in a way that matches the narrative, I remember being younger and hearing the story of The Great Patriotic War (World War 2) as the story of the working class from across the world coming together to resist fascism and imperialism but of course it is far more complicated than that.
Hopefully in time more people will find a way to experience others and find joy, we can't change the past but we can change the future.

You seem to be a very open-minded person.
(Also, you are very attractive. 😉😊)
I would love to meet you some day.
I teach ESOL and have a lot of Chinese friends who have studied in Australia.
Some have stayed in my home during their study years.
I have found them all to be very interested in learning Aussie ways and usually surprised to find that 'western' people are not as 'bad' as they were taught.
(They've also been surprised to find that 'American ways' are not the same as Aussie ways.)
In my 70+ years I have travelled, lived and worked in numerous countries and met, associated with and worked with many Americans.
I have found, generally speaking, Chinese people are much better educated, more open-minded and MUCH less insular than Americans.
Americans have been brainwashed by their own self-serving propaganda.

But Key criteria in my friendships are open-mindedness, and the ability to see and accept different points of view. This often requires a degree of broad mindedness and empathy. I am not going to "tip toe" around and disregard who I am for anyone. So if a person holds predicial, racisit and narrow beilefs, they do not meet MY criterion.

you speak very truthfully and very accurately. About the situations to do with different cultures. You are very fortunate to be in the position you are to be able to reason, about different situations of different cultures. The only problem with the world today are politicians. politicians are the ones that are causing all the problems. The problems in the world are political agendas. People at the top in power want more power and more money. they no longer have the general populous well-being at the forefront of their duties. Which is what they should be doing looking after the welfare of the people who elected them or they are empower to serve. I have been into China a few times, and everybody in general has treated me as a Westerner with the upmost respect. and they have a generous curiosity to know me. In general, the people of China are very nice and I would go as far as to say lovely people. The culture has more respect for their culture and their families, in the way we used to in the UK in the 1960s and prior to that years. We have lost that amount of cultural respect and value for our own people. Thank you for your insights. You are a lovely lady and sensible. We cannot say that of a lot of people in the United Kingdom today. It’s about respecting one another. That is the bottom line.

Well done, and well done for your English language. Unfortunately a lot of Western countries have developed an anti Chinese culture as well. China is still seen and being taught, that everything that comes out of China is just cheap copies & poor quality made to look good. And while I agree with that in some instances, I also see the good that comes from China and it's people. I have always had an affinity with China and it's people, right back to my schooldays & Chinese friends at school. In fact I was very keen on a Chinese girl at one time, but her mother (being from China) stopped that. She said Chinese Girls for Chinese Boys & that was the end of that. During my working life I spent many trips and time in Hong Kong and always enjoyed my time there. My recent trip wasn't so enlightening though as it has changed so much. Anyway, I'll put you on my Sub list and look forward to more posts from you. Bye for now (From New Zealand)
