  • Based in Dorset in the UK, Monkey World is the largest monkey and ape rescue centre on the planet. For nearly three decades, the team has saved countless primates - across 20 countries - from lives of cruelty, abuse, and neglect.
This safe haven is now home to more than 200 monkeys and apes. The dedicated staff never stop in their quest to save animals from being mistreated by owners, ending up in laboratories or being exploited in the entertainment industry.

One of the best of your videos, even though a part may be old.
I’m completely awed by how the staff think of ingenious ways to hide and package the food, especially the idea used for the orangutans in this video.
Can’t wait to see that baby orangutan from Germany.
Your work is truly remarkable! ♥️

I think it's great that the little monkey pair were allowed to mate and have a family. I know it's a rescue center but for the endangered species isn't it still like a rescue if they can breed occasionally? I am also aware space is a concern that it's needed to be able to take in other victims of pet trade. That was just my thoughts on it. Some of the animals in their care are extremely rare in the wild so I think that some allowances could be made to help the breed survive they do it for the beautiful wooly monkeys & I'm so happy and thankful that they do. I think it will be a sad day when we as humanity loss an entire species of any animal, especially when it's due to what we as humans has done to them and there habitat

I was thinking the very same thing!🤣
This baby ❤️ is the very first newborn of •ANY• primate species that I've ever seen before (which is quite a lot) that is such a much bigger size as just a newly born fresh-out-of-the-womb infant in comparison to the size of it's mother--
that it makes you wonder so many things about how in the world did the poor mother ever •possibly• handle & cope with allllll of the uncomfortable-ness of a baby of •that• newly just born size as it kept growing ever bigger inside of her and then her finally being able to give a healthy delivery to it
(for BOTH of them!!) all by herself...
●WITHOUT● it resulting in very high-risk & severely complicated deliveries ending up killing either one or both of them as a baby that size is being pushed out of a mother of only •her• size?!?
And it also blows the mind thinking about How IN THE Freakin World did that baby even possibly ●FIT● all of itself curled up inside of it's tiny mother in order for it to even be able to survive long enough to even ●GET● finally born....
without it just bursting it's tiny little mid-size mother wide open the last month or so of the gestation period for this species?!?!
Not to mention how in the world does a mother the size of this particular primate species at it's full sexual maturity adult size •possibly•
ever be able to continue to produce enough milk fast enough as she eats/drinks in order to be able to keep a newborn infant of about 1/4 of her own size.....
      ●NURSED & PROPERLY FED●
•fast• enough for that only 1-2 hr. apart nursing feeding schedule window that all primate newborns •need• to have especially during the first 2-4 weeks after being born in order for a primate newborn to grow & thrive for their first month or so of life....
until the mother finally starts it's much further apart weening & nursing schedule at only first thing in the mornings and not again until they are settled in for the night at bedtime once an infant finally begins to be able to chew, eat and properly digest more solid foods at around their 2 month old mark?!?
      It's definitely gonna be ●HELLA●
exciting and fascinating watching & learning about this species of primates AND
their offspring as they are growing up....
so I perfectly well understand exactly ●WHY● Alison was so keen and excited about not even hesitating a single moment about the decision •TO• allow this gorgeous pair to breed and produce their very •OWN• little family unit troop for themselves!
      ❤️❤️❤️

Once again, I must say that I admire greatly what Allison does for these primates, and many many many many ways……. However, she frequently puts her foot in her mouth when she says that she doesn’t care what people think about what she does, like, allowing those red bellied monkeys to have a baby of their own. In this instance, I personally agree with her. I did not agree with her attitude about not caring what people think, I agree with that idea that they needed a baby of their own to fit in better. However, the statement of her not caring what people think is very, very concerning to me. Once again, it shows that she feels that she’s the only person that’s able to adequately raise monkeys. There are many people out in the world who give monkeys/primates wonderful homes. I’m not talking about apes….. apes are too large, and can be very very dangerous, but as I’ve pointed out many times a small monkey or even medium size monkey like a macaque can indeed be kept as a pet, in a wonderful home if all of their needs are met properly, living a wonderful and enjoyed life even more so than those in the wild. Some live better lives than humans. Modifications may have to be done, but then there are many countries, people, and pet owners, who have modifications of their animals, whether it be for safety, or just simply for the particular breed (e.g.: tails clipped, castration😢, spaying, etc. etc.) therefore I see nothing wrong with people who have canines removed from monkeys, and sometimes the entire set of teeth. Considering there will be pets, there are foods that will be given to them that are perfectly edible, without needing teeth, and those foods are indeed designed for that animal. There’s a lady who sells and raises, capuchin monkeys, and she has one of the happiest and well adjusted monkeys I have ever seen or witnessed. That monkey has a wonderful life. How can these cases be totally ignored, and, instead made to look like the animals being abused? It is absolutely despicable, this show does nothing but propaganda against Asians, who have had monkeys for millennia as pets. Having monkeys to them, is as common as USA/UK people have dogs or cats. This propaganda against Asians, having monkeys, implying that for them to have monkeys as abusive is nothing but racist. I am so tired of hearing racist propaganda with regards to having monkeys is very, very sad. There are some sad situations where monkeys are brought to Allison’s refuge, I will no doubt agree with that. What is more sad though, is how they make it look and imply that no one can meet the needs of a pet monkey. There are some people who cannot meet the needs of dogs or cats. That sort of issue is around the board with any animal. I agree that big exotic animals like tigers, lions, apes, bears, jaguars, and other large species should not be pets, simply because they’re dangerous. But leave those of us who love monkeys, and raise monkeys - as long as we meet their needs, and their safe animals to have, should be commended, and not placed in a group of animal abusers, who are unqualified, and really just don’t care for any type of animal really. Those types just want to say: “look at what I have!” And could care less about any kind of animal!!! But Allison does take care of her animals at the sanctuary. I must give her that much. I just wish she would change her views just a little bit about people who own monkeys, especially consider those Asians, who have had them for millennia!!!!!

these benin monkeys do not belong in your possession it would be your best responsibility to find a proper research zoo willing to breed them and intensely study them. fact is i think they are the tip of the iceberg in their smuggling. others will be found an an exotic species like that belongs in the possession of a animal researcher IMO as a biologist. please do not damage them in any way permanently. but i bet by the time i saw this it was too late. we will find out soon. shame

@@marumiyuhime You appear unaware of the primates they DO return to the wild, and the reasons why the majority cannot be returned.
Your desire to study them, and to use them to raise cash indicate your concern is for the benefit of humans. Monkey World goes to great lengths to do what is best for each and every primate. That is their mission.
Perhaps a bit of humility is called for. For all we know, research IS being carried out elsewhere. It is wise to reserve judgement without knowing all relevant facts. Research has its place. I've spent four decades in research. There are times and places for that, but Monkey World has a different mission.
It's great if you have a biology degree but hard to take you seriously as a scientist when you think two rare primates should be put in "an exotic attraction to bring in more cash."
