Awesome mod list to the entry level tiger! Very cool man... we're thinking of adding a tiger to the stable and this really makes me want to go with the cheaper base model and add to it like you did
The big difference between the XC and XR is the suspension. The XC has a very adjustable WP suspension that alone is worth the upgrade. Since you already have dirt bikes for getting crazy, an XR might be just what you need and use the money saved to kit that thing out B-)
I went for visibility, the driving lights, the brake lights, all of it helps. Since I spend most of my time on this bike it is worth it. Thanks for watching and commenting B-)
Really like your Windscreen & those bags! Very cool; you're ready for an adventure! ;) all the extra lighting - I like that! I've seen those lockable tank bags...very useful.
Thanks! I can't wait to see your NC all kitted out B-) BTW, the Cree u5 lights can be found on ebay and banggood.com The Vololight is genius, and that led bar is a Back-Off brake light. Found the info AFTER I made the video :-P
Looks really well kitted out, certainly gives me some ideas for mine. I'm struggling to find a beak in the blue for mine, think I might have to bite the bullet and order one through the dealership and pay a bit more. I like the spot lamps, much cheaper alternative to the Triumph ones.
Ride Safe.. We got hit by a huge tumble weed in AZ a couple of weeks ago. Wind was about 60MPG. If we were on 2 wheels, we most likely would have went down.
thats a great thing about extra lights people see you like those extra brake lights nothing worries me more the being rear ended it looks like you have your bike well outfitted and ready for the trip, thanks for a couple good ideas about lights. I am hoping to try and get my Spyder out for a short ride on Sunday weather and health permitting. have not been on it since we did the Mt Lemon run. Ride safe
Very good, Having given myself more time to get to Yellowstone means I was able to deviate from the direct A to B. I went to Sedona and rode Oak Creek Canyon and on to Lake Powell. Lodging here tonight, tomorrow is Utah! I'm posting pictures on Instagram B-)
I have a super sport bike Id like to know how the service comparison with the touring bike. I do all the maintenance except valve check. I want to see how oil change vid tutorial. Awesome vlog!
What an awesome bike, man! I wish I would have had my bike with me that day you let me test ride yours, but I am very interested in a Tiger at some point! Great job with the edit too, top notch. Ride safe
Haha, I guess I better shove off then. ;o) Great put together vid mate, loved the sun-drenched location. Man, you've got that thing totally sorted! Its funny, most guys seem to mod there bikes simply for aesthetics and to show off a little, me included I'll admit, but you've obviously done everything to your bike with very specific purpose. Cool points for that mate. Enjoy the trip bud.
I'm fairly sure that those lights you added appear to pulse when viewed through a camera when on low mode are doing so because of pulse width modulation - LEDs can be made to run at lower outputs by strobing them really, really fast, which is generally invisible to the naked eye but shows up sometimes on video. There are other ways to dim LEDs, but they are all more expensive, so PWM is almost universal.
Very well explained! Yes indeed, on low intensity to the naked eye they appear half as bright, but on camera they appear to flicker. Bravo on the explanation B-)
About the tires, my own Tiger XR came with the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 1 and after 6000km, the rear tire already have a flat spot in the middle. I found they have good grip. I started to look for some other rubbers and I was interested in the Michelin PR4 like yours. The only ones those will fit on my XR would be the Trail ones. Can you give your impressions about your PR4?
These are the Pilot Road 4 Trail version. These tires have been absolutely flawless! Now, if you plan on gravel roads and such, these tires are not rated for offroad use at all, so keep that in mind. If what you are doing is mostly on-road touring, then there are no better tires as far as I'm concerned. Right now they have over 8k miles and still have pretty good profile, not too bad on the squaring off. I rode these up to Yellowstone and back to Tucson, heavy rain and hail, days of it, extreme wind, and never a problem with traction. Very smooth on the road, no vibration, and the tread life has been pretty good. Big confidence booster in the twisties, they make the XR feel like it is on rails! I have even abused them a bit and done some mild gravel roads in order to get to camping sites. I always take it easy when doing so, and they have been just fine. I hope that helps, and thank you for watching B-)
Thanks a lot for your input, much appreciated. I do not plan at all to do gravel roads even if the bike can do. I just heard a bad story of a guy who broke his XR front wheel mag doing off-road. His bike was put to rest for at least 1 1/2 months just waiting for a new mag to come from Britain cuz no stock at all in America, adding to it a cost of $750 a piece.... No way lolll If I had a XC, ok.
Nice video. I'm trying to decide between the XRX and the XRT. I like the idea of the XRX because I can add more of the accessories that I want as I get the money. However the XRT has a higher output alternator. Have you had any trouble with your bike keeping up with all of the electrical gadgets/lights and still being able to charge the battery?
I haven't had any trouble at all, and I think this has the 42 amp with 500w output, which is more than enough to power the heated grips, gps, and led lights. It has never missed a beat. 500w is really quite a bit for a bike this size, I know the later models run at 650w, but 500w will fit the bill. Also, no finicky canbus system like the BMWs that freak out when you add electronics. B-)
Hey, thanks Chris! I picked it up at allthingstriumph.com You can get them there for about $130, they have pretty good deals on a bunch of stuff there too, like the genuine center stand and other factory parts.
Hey Arizona ,, just picked up 2016 xrx.. where can i get the aux.adapters ,it has the European on it . Need it for charging my phone etc.phone?? Great vids..you inspired me to get a triumph tiger..love the bike although very quiet exhaust. Will upgrade soon..thnx..Pete @ NY..
Hey Pete! Congrats on the new bike :-) I hope Triumph is reading your comment, maybe knock a few $$ of my next bike! LOL I ordered the Powerlet USB plug for mine. You can find it on Amazon for under $20 I think. I also hooked up a USB to my battery and ran that to my luggage to charge my extra camera batteries and battery packs.
Hi Arizona RE, First of all thanks for the great video, i just picked up my Tiger xrx today and i love it. have been watching your video over and over again and making a list of stuff i would buy for my bike :) a question i have your Creeu5 LED lights, do you have a video when mounting them on, best regards Ersan from Sweden
Ersan, thank you for watching and commenting! Congratulations on your new bike, I am sure you will enjoy it :-) I did not do an installation videos for the lights, mostly because I used adhoc pieces that most people would not match together. I used SW Motech light mounts, and a Denali switch I got off of ebay. Any switch could work though.
Thanks for you reply Arizona, i ordered a crachguard and skidplate from www.heed.com.pl/index.php/en/crash-bars-heed-triumph-tiger-800xc-11-16-bunkier-en Should work mounting them on the frames maybe, i´ll se when it arrives :)
This episode brought to you by Marcy's! Oh damn it...I screwed it up, there goes the advertising revenue. By the way, I love the beak on your roadie; is that the official Triumph accessory or the Puig model?
About 3 years ago a friend and I went camping. He brought 2 long haired sheep skins. He told me to try one. I threw it over my seat, and I doubt I will ever ride without the skin again. It totally changed my seat. It became comfortable beyond its previous comfort. I used it as a seat for fishing. I put it under my sleeping bag to keep my torso warm. And sitting on it is mind blowing, it wicks sweat so you stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Here in KY you can pick them up at most flea markets. I highly recommend
Definitely something for longer rides. These weren't the best options out there, I went with cheap and effective. I rode 300-500 miles a day for 10 days on my Yellowstone trip, and I believe that having the variety of posture aided that greatly B-)
Arizona RE Thanks mate. Which ones would be the better choice? I have looked at the one from ADVDesign with the storage room in the peg but I dont know if they are worth the 169 bucks
That's really a matter of personal preference and depends on what other accessories you have. I f you use SWMotech engine bars, other stuff might work better. Check out this thread for some ideas: www.tiger800.co.uk/index.php?topic=2513.0
For the low, I don't think so. Check out Jensmotoadventures on instagram. She had a low version for a while and might know what those options are. Good luck! B-)
I bought the volo lights for my tiger as well and I was wondering where you routed the wiring to keep it clean looking like that and what power source did you use? Thanks!
I drilled a small hole through the factory plate area and ran the wires through to the underside and up into the tail area under the luggage rack. I used posi-taps and connected everything right to the break light, using the tail light wire instead of the break like wire.
Worked great! :D Thanks! I have one more question though haha I drilled two holes for the monting bolts as low as I could on the bike but I still can not get my key in the rear seat lock.. Did you have to file the license plate and Volo bracket as well?
Christopher Unger Nope, I went to the stock holes on the Tiger with a drill bit, made them bigger and sort of cut lower with the bit (forcing down with the bit while drilling) until I could mate the Vololight up without the key hole being blocked. My vololight unit is in tact, and if I ever decide to get rid of it, nobody would notice the bigger holes for the license plate.
Thanks, is this for a Tiger? If so, SW Motech makes some nice mounts, or go to allthingstriumph and look for the factory mounts only, not the lights as well. Hope that helps B-)
For on road only riding, I like the Michelin PR4, supper grippy and make the bike feel like it is on a rail. For ADV and dirt, I like the Shinko 707, not as much confidence on the road, but they churn the gravel and dirt pretty good and are a decent all round tire.
@@ArizonaRE thank you man. You're channel is a absolute gold mine of content. Blown away by what kind of mileage you put on the tiger and so quickly too. The Yellowstone footage was incredible.
I have not! I currently have 4 bikes in my stable, but the this Tiger 800 is still my most used bike. In fact, here's my latest tour I did with another Tiger 800 rider: th-cam.com/video/jGg7pgSUnqw/w-d-xo.html
I have some 'L' brackets that I used to mount in the windscreen holes like the stock lights. I removed the round mount from the bottom of the Cree lights to mate them up to the brackets.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :-) The seat is a Saddleman Adventure Touring seat for the Tiger 800, but they make something similar for a good number of other bikes out there. I can tell you this, they could charge twice as much and it would still be worth it. Cheers, and thanks for watching B-) www.saddlemen.com/
Hello. I don't understand sorry, but are you satisfied of your saddlemen? Your passenger is satisfied too? I want buy for my wife, we make a long ride. Thanks you!
The Saddleman is very expensive, but it is a very good saddle. I rode a BMW across country and it had their 'touring comfort saddle' and it came nowhere near as good. This seat is good for you if you have tailbone pain when riding long distances. If you do not experience that pain, then this seat would probably just seem expensive.
Hi, thanks for taking the time to put together the video. I've just bought the exact same bike and will be doing a lot of the same mods. I couldn't find an S1 Denali wiring harness that you listed. Is it the D1? Like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Denali-Dual-D1-DM-Wiring-Harness-/221804913532 The U5's from banggood are great value. Thanks!
That sure looks like it, though the one I found of eBay did not have the relay and battery connectors, I had to provide those. Maybe that was the difference? The U5s are pretty cool, there's a hack you can do to change the lights to always 'hi', check out Chris' video: th-cam.com/video/I59yW9o2Cys/w-d-xo.html
All that sparkles is farkles!...great, practical, safety minded & useful improvements!
Oh yeah, I buttoned some armor on as well, after this video was made. Really saved the day B-)
Looks fantastic. Luggage really suits the bike and the accessory lights are great. Have an awesome trip!

Dropped it in my favorites. Nice shopping list. Whish I was riding now. First service this weekend!
I'll say this after today's ride, those highway pegs could have been tripled in price and still worth every penny!
Like how you have the bike setup, some really nice mods..
Dude, some major miles here the last two days, 1000 so far, I can say I've used every single mod on the bike, all worth it B-)
Pick my Tiger up Saturday, considering everything you've got there! Thanks man!

quick question and sorry if its already in the comments, but what bar risers did you use and how tall are they. Thanks!
No problem, I used the Rox Riser 2", it pivots so you can pull back a bit too B-)
