    Hi Tampatec, That is a similar experience to what I have with an RCA LCD TV. No one makes the main board anymore - and I don't have the schematics for the main board either. I won't get rid of the TV though -- but I might try a workaround - I gather there are universal circuit boards that make monitors into TVs, and I might get one and see if that works to make the TV functional again. Good Luck with your TV.

    Tampatec- I had asked you previously about a RCA that would not power up unless it was continuously unplugged and re-plugged with standby light coming on and hitting power button for light to go out but set not coming on until after half a dozen or more times of re-plugging it would power up. The problem was in the main board. I bought a used one (only one I could find) on ebay that was $38 getting it for a $28 offer. It goes to figure that it was the main board as the wires from the power button go straight to the main board. Like you said it was probably a bad capacitor or maybe as I suspicioned the power relay sticking as it played beautifully once it powered on for hours. Anyway just letting you know that the problem was with the main board. Thanks Zed

    Tampatech -- Awesome videos...I enjoy your no-nonsense approach with no added fluff!! Any chance you would know what board would control the screen size? I have a Sanyo DP52449, and cannot change the screen size from the stretched image. I tried another remote, but that did not work-- it seems internal to one of the boards. Thanks much!!!

    I suspect that the problem is with the Power Supply Board. Have you done a load test on the 12V rail? Maybe test the Ohm between the A5V and B5V to GND? I suspected that one of them is pulling down to GND. Cheers,

    • @davenay1645
      @davenay1645 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      been a sasung tech for over 20 years the test for the power supply is what I told tampatec unplugging the main lead from the power supply to the mainboard and back light turns on .
      and the other board he got which was defective the 5 volt line stayed high proving again it is the logic mainboard

    • @kriswillems5661
      @kriswillems5661 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davenay1645 Those power supplies have overload protection which can be broken. Your way of testing will never find such an issue. The backlight does not even use the 5V rail..... so it's not a very good way to test the 5V rail.

    I wish there would be a regulation that electronic schematics have to be available for everyone. It would be such a nice help for private repair, repair cafes and others. They exist anyway, so masking their download available beside the manual wouldn't be a big hassle for the companies.
    Sometimes we can find service manuals, but even those are rare in the wild.

    Wanted to first thank you for all your informative videos that got me fixing tvs for hobby and extra spending cash. But thought I'd share my experience with tvpartstoday that I just encountered. I bought a board that worked but the HDMI ports didn't. Returned it for another that didn't work at all. They said they had one more in stock and would send it out, well I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally I called only to find out they had made a stock count error but never thought to tell me. They said they would issue a refund that day. Then I waited, and waited, and waited. A month later I called to ask wth was going on. Long story short, I finally got my refund but only after 3 phone calls and 2 months wait. You might want to call or they will drag their feet issuing your refund.

      @UCUjHleYfLwawsJZ5HU_NWsA yeah, believe me I tried everything in the book. The one hdmi input had video but was all pixelated. It was an oled LG board go figure. Probably could've just reflowed the solder and it would have worked but it was a very expensive board and figured for that much it better work right right out of the box. They sell used for 250 plus!

    Hey Tampatec, I watched your video from years ago about fixing the flickering/flashing lights on a Samsung LCD TV by cutting the JP854 wire; I tried to locate that same wire on my Samsung TV model UN40H5003AFXZA, but couldn’t find it. Is there an equivalent I could cut on my TV model, or another way I can fix this problem? Thank you for your time, your videos are very helpful!

    • @TampaTec
      @TampaTec  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      that fix doesn't work on all TVs but can be bad power board if LED driver board is builtin the power board or something in the backlight circuit if the backlights are flickering maybe led driver board or LED strips are bad. need to narrow it down by troubleshooting the TV. in this video i show troubleshooting steps.

    Hi Tampatec - thanks for all this tv repair videos. I am hoping you can shed some light on my question.
    I have a sony KD-65X9000B tv that have massive vertical line in the middle about 3inch thick. This TV is quite expensive about $4700 AUD 3 yrd ago.
    I have purchased a tcon board but what surprises me is that the tcon board of this sony is the same with the 65" TCL TV. The ad was for a TCL but it is exact the same part.
    If the tcon replacement wont fix it - does it mean that the TCL 65 TV have the same panel as the Sony TV?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Look for a main board for a larger screen model with the same suffix model. For instance. 46c7000. Try a 50 or 55c7000. Of course using you model number. Making sure that the last three letters are the same. Ex. XZA. Good luck. What is the model your working. On.

    I have a Samsung LN55C610N1FXZA with intermittent vertical color lines. There is no pattern I can see to when they appear. All connections on the main and t-con boards are tight. I purchased an LJ94-03291P t-con board to replace the factory one. It worked for awhile, but the intermittent vertical color lines returned. Could this be a main board or cable issue, or did I get a bad t-con board? An thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

    How do we know the blinking 5VSB isn't a weak 5VSB PS. Put 5V with current limiting from your bench PS to the main board, and/or test 5VSB PS with a load and see if it blinks. Maybe the main boards are fine, and some stupid cap in PS junk. I always give you 👍.

I know I have picture because if I shut the lights out and power on tv I see HDMI 3 then a no signal (not hooked up to anything) and can use remote to see menu items etc. Do you think it is an individual led backlight issue? Also what amp wattage etc would the led lights be? Do "any" leds work or do they have to be specific to that model? Or do you think it is a different issue altogether? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Mark

    So, if eBay was the only place you found the board, now you're out of options? Maybe you can get it from China (Aliexpress). You didn't mention the part number otherwise I would've searched it there.

    Capacitors on main PSU, check the back light power supply / inverter, these are usually the culprits. Bet the mainboard is OK.

    You don’t need a scope to trace the boards. Bet its a mosfet thats dead or a couple diodes.

      Yes, back light set is $35, capacitors, transisters, diodes, fuse, mosfets, ect. Come within 3 weeks and very good quality so far. I'm in it for the fascination and satisfaction of diagnosing the problem and then fixing it. Not for income.

      @@TampaTec what's the chances the 5.16 standby you have doesn't have any balls{amps}? to weak to fire up the main board functions?
      norcal built a load tester for powersupply's ,. or maybe use an artificial load on the standby..from the power supply. heck, i'm thinking there should be enough amps to charge an old 5volt cell phone? or a little led desk lamp?

    I Never Go On Ebay. Cause
    You Can Get Stung. & Anotherthing
    I Don't Rebuild Boards Either.
    Cause If You Get A New Board
    You'r Better You'r Self Anyways
    Cause You Get Brand NewEverything.
    That way You Don't get Stung.
    & Besides I Never Use Rebuilt Parts Anyways. I Go All Out With Brand New
