Hi Miss Staci. I cherish Adriatic-type figs too … do you have the chance to get the Croatian Variety „Dalmatien“? They taste additionally with a hint of vanilla flavor … I should have made a video of a fig-farm somewhere on my channel too … all the best from Vienna, Jakob

Staci how do you store you figs? I have a problem with them molding quickly.

Hi whisperingjesse. I don't have a problem with my figs molding because I eat them before they even start that process. I love figs so much that they are gone before I even know it. When I buy my figs, it's all I eat until they are completely gone. :) I love them so much. For your situation, I would store them in the refrigerator. Keeping your fruits at a cool temperature really slows the ripening process and helps stop any molding from happening too quickly. Hope that helps. :)

The reason you do not see fresh figs often at the grocery is because they just don’t hold well. If you do not plan to eat them within 24 hours, consider dehydrating them.,

@@missstaci5223 excactly !! 😉 They lose sweetness in the fridge. Ps I think you should wash before eat-
      if you bought them...

Oh Gwen, they are amazing! Black Mission figs are good, but Adriatic figs are out of this world amazing! :) I hope you will one day be able to get your hands on them. So worth every darn penny.

these are my absolut favorite figs. You need to take out the seeds and grow them yourself indoors with a heat lamp. if you do you will loooooove it

If you grow the seeds, you will not get figs of the fig variety containing the seeds.

The ancient Greeks called figs the fruit of the gods. Truly one of natures greatest gifts. Is someone growing them in Alaska or are they being shipped in. Normally they don't ship well.
If you have extra you can also dehydrate them at 115-125 for about 24 hrs. It normally intensifies the flavor even more. :)..

I can see why figs are favorite. :) The figs get shipped up here to Alaska from California. All the figs that are available at my co-op market all come from California. All the exotic and tropical fruits including all of the temperate fruits as well are all shipped up here to Alaska. Alaska has potential for growing good and huge veggies/greens, but not fruits. We are too far north and in such an extreme arctic environment for too long out of the year for any fruits to grow properly and survive. You can grow fruits, but it will be an expensive and hard ride! Thanks for commenting Jeff. Comments are always welcome on Miss Staci's channel. :)

You would definitely need a heated greenhouse up there. :). It;s pretty awesome that you get such a good variety of figs up there anyway though. I cant even get most of those in the lower 48 except for maybe Ca. That's why I grow my own. Do you get Durian up there? That's another one of my favorites. Do you grow any of your own veggies? I love the enthusiasm in your videos. You just sorta light up when you taste that fig. Adriatics are good so its understandable. :).

Over the years I've noticed that we really do get a very good variety of produce up here. Though the only place in my town to get these types of varieties is only at my co-op market. It's just a small little store so not many people shop there. I do of course because I know that's the only place I can get rare fruits like this and like many others throughout the year. That's so neat though Jeff that you have to ability to grow your own. Yes, you would need a heat source and light source for sure. In the winter time we only get a couple hours of daylight. So, it's not just a heat problem, but it's light problem as well. We certainly do get Durian up here. It's only found at a small Oriental Market store in town though. Again, not many people shop there either, but I do because I know I can get durian, raw okra and many other rare Oriental/Asian produce that you would never find at the regular grocery store. The Durian is in frozen packs though. You can also buy it in it's spiky rind, but they freeze the whole fruit that way as well. Most of the exotic fruits get shipped up here frozen though....that's the only problem at times because they wouldn't make the long shipping time it takes to get to Alaska. I've done and will do more videos on the Durian I get here. I've only had it frozen and then thawed out and it's delicious so I can't even imagine what a real FRESH one tastes like right off the tree. I do grow my own veggies and greens. I even grown some fruits, but only the ones that can with stand our short summers (like crab apples, cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers...). I've done a couple videos on my channel where I took you guys along with me out to my garden to show you my Alaskan produce I'm growing. I've got corn, tons of Lacianto Kale, mixed greens, arugula, swiss chard, spinach, basil, thyme, oregano, dill, zucchini, tomatoes, Alaskan chives, wild Alaskan blueberries & raspberries & even mini strawberries. Thank you so much for your respectful comments Jeff. I am enthusiastic in my videos because it's the truth. I'm so happy and excited to eat this way because I feel good and it tastes good. I just want to share with everyone that eating raw is not boring at all like a lot of people think. It's so much more and if I can eat this way up here in freezing, dark, cold, ice-pit Alaska, you most certainly can be raw vegan where ever you're at in the world too...I know everyone can! Comments are always welcome Jeff. I hope you have a good day. :) -Staci from Fairbanks, Alaska
