As a black person, the bruising issue is real. I have hurt myself and the only thing that reminds me is the pain, no marks whatsoever. In the rare occasion that a bruise pops up it is because I have REALLY hurt myself. Anything that can be done to save and protect abuse victims, I am for.

Thanks Kate Snow for bringing this story this morning. It is so important. Just posting before Brad Pitt fans rush in here to call her names and defend his fk ups. This is so important on so many levels. The amount of people that go through this family court system and the people who have lost their lives at the hands of an abuser is so sad. This country not only has a DV problem it has a ignorant, hateful, anger, and racial bias problem. Like some already coming in with those attributes instead of listening to the facts and reading what that VAWA bill is all about. I hope they never have to experience any of those things but maybe then they would be more empathetic to the victims of DV and or deaths of innocent people.
I don't call Angelina Jolie bad names. She married Brad Pitt knowing he had a drinking problem but he is a good father, has provided the best care for all his children, and has the right to see his children as he wishes. The problem she has is growing up in a home with an abusive father who did abandon her and her mother.

This is a women who had no issue making out with her brother on TV, wore a vile of blood from her former husband while married, etc. She went abroad to adopt because no agency in the US in their right mind would allow her to adopt. Her former staff members have said how dysfunctional she is with her kids yelling at them and acting crazy. Violence can also be verbal. She's made that evident with all the smack she has talked about the father of her children. She should know that she is hurting his image with the kids that have nothing to do with their marital issues. She's not the person to represent such an important cause.

This happened to me. I was gag ordered not to tell. My kids were raised by my assailant. I've spent 20,000+ hours studying this dynamic and have been systematically SHUT DOWN each time I addressed it officially. I've reported it to Today and other channels over the last 15 years.

As long as there is no blood, the police will not deal with cases of abuse. In addition, many mothers are afraid to report their partner or husband for fear of the consequences. It's a vicious circle.
I have kept up with the humanitarian work Angelina has done since the early 2000’s. She is an amazing woman. Many people don’t know (or care to know) all the work she’s done.

In my situation the abuse came from my mother and stepfather and when not wanting to tell adults as a child but would voice my dislike or concern about my mother in other ways, I would always get the response "but that's your mother". I also was kidnapped by my mother and stepfather which was confirmed last year. Again, because it was a family member people don't seem to think it's an issue. I look forward to sharing my story and helping others.

I always wondered why she has never reached out to other celebrity women to join her cause. She never supports anything that other do. Outside if her humanitarian stuff. If she got other celebs to help she could use their social media and such. Her Zoom calls are not getting much attention at all. Never trending at all.

Thankfully, both of my abusers are dead. Karma prevails! I admire Angelina Jolie for her continued work in humanitarian advocacy throughout the years. I don’t give a phuck if haters don’t like her. The fact remains is that she’s using her celebrity status as an ambassador to bring these issues to the forefront that will save many childrens’ lives. And whilst the rest of these Hollywood elites spend time more concerned about their pronouns! 🙄🙄
My sister was a victim of domestic violence , all these points are real and valid, she had no help, especially from the broken legal system. Family court didn’t care she had a year long restraining order and was abused. The judge told her I don’t care you were abused by your husband. I am not from America but these issues transcend internationally. It might be a little better in America and you are lucky to have Angelina and Ruth.
I have to be the Ruth and Angelina of my country, without the platform.
And, how sad a commentary that it takes a gorgeous celebrity to get people to take a moment to pay attention to such a serious issue.
