Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. Since they didn’t answer the question for you, gold is beating stocks and treasuries because everyday people can smell what’s in the air. The economy is not as good as we are told, and your dollar goes less far with each visit to the store. Gold is the safest of safe haven assets. A 6,000 year track record. No other asset class has that length of time maintaining stability. So, people aren’t quite buying this “new norm,” the world seems chaotic, thus gold’s stability is out performing “performing” assets.

You should own stocks AND gold. It's not one or the other. Gold diversifies and protects a stock portfolio much better than bonds - which is not something many talking heads will acknowledge. Not less than 90/10 but 70/30 works fine too.
Where were bonds when you needed a diversifier in the 1970s? Where where bonds when when stocks dragged throughout the 2000s (ok, they didn't do too bad here, but gold did MUCH better)? Where were bonds even in 2022 when stocks had their latest dip? Bonds have been a lousy diversifier when they have been called upon.

Because USD+printing = inflation. Why does your chicken or steak cost double now?!?! Because the US has printed more than 80% in the past few years on top of what is already circulating. US is in a deficit and increases every year. Why, you ask? Because we have more bills than what we make so they have to make more money to pay their bills, but that inflates our current money. Why? When something can be created out of thin air and isn't backed by anything and is plentiful, it becomes less desirable. Hence why people are moving over to gold and the huge surge in gold prices because of its limited supply.

@@sandyfoot I suppose you are talking about Zimbabwe with 20.000% inflation. In US$ terms in gold, you would have made between 6-7% a year over the last 10 years. Had you bought the safest investment on the planet , the SPY etf ( S&P500) you would have made a return of 9% per year. But gold you need to store it, and when trying to sell it you need to pay commissions. So actually a lousy investment.

@@ben-g314 I shouldn't even have to say this but obviously bitcoin is not a Ponzi because there is no central authority paying out profits. Bitcoin's price is decided by supply and demand. The supply is much more sound than gold and the demand will increase as more and more ignorant people, that don't even know what a Ponzi is, learn that it is the most secure, most decentralized, and only form of incorruptible money. Bitcoin has solved the problems that make gold ALWAYS FAIL as money and much more.
