    Wow.. that's a great one brother and I thank you for uploading a clear cut explanation for putting it up. Yes, I agree it does need some research at individual level depending upon one's bike. I have an Indian bike, a Pulsar AS200. This model did not have ABS, while the newer iteration of a sister model NS200 has a single channel ABS unit. I did some research a year back but did not proceed since I had some questions/ grey areas and none could advise much on the same. Though I was able to conclude that the ABS system the bike has is of Bosch and can easily be retro-fitted as plug and play with standard parts (just needed some existing components to replace for standard mounts) - But yes, they are do-able without requiring any custom parts. I was skeptical about three things:
    1. The calibration part. I just need to check whether the one shown in your video is similar to the one the people do at factory test for my bike with the ABS unit. (Mostly the process should be the same, I guess)
    2. Requirement of an ECU. It is now clear that the ECU and Pump is within the ABS unit. I checked the OEM single channel ABS unit of Bosch and after seeing your video, it got clarified.
    3. Fear of accidents. I was under impression that ABS failure means a complete brake failure. But then understood from this video, that ABS failure would at most make them work like normal brakes - which is still good enough, then having no brakes.
    All I need now is some time, money and some good mechanic who would help to assemble the unit. Will surely do it someday and you will be the 1st person whom I shall be sharing it once installed.
    Thanks brother, cheers!

      correct, ECU within the pump unit. Calibration of these "generic" models is a procedure you run the first time you ride it - turn igntion on/off a few times to go into learning mode, speed up to a certain speed before pressing the brakes etc.... simple enough. The only custom part is the "Sensor discs" that go on your brake discs .....those are different for each bike to suit the different mounting hole spaces. Good luck !

    Awesome video. After falling my self while turning (guy did a 90 degree turn into me when I was swerving to avoid him) and same thing happening to a friend of mine a couple of weeks before. I am pretty convinced I need abs. And like you said even if its road rash and a new helmet, that still cost more than the abs

    Hi, thanks a bunch for this tutorial. I'm looking into installing one in my custom Electric motorcycle. looking at he wiring, seems like it's an independent system other that the 12v and brake hoses but what did u do for OMDC, CAN-H, RST, CAN-L (ports 3-6)?

    Hi, I want to congratulate with you, since the video is very well done and useful.
    I'd like to understand what is your feeling. Is your bike stopping in a shorter space now? Can you (slightly) correct your trajectory while fully braking and feeling the abs pulsating?
    You have described a very simple bleeding procedure, I have to conclude that the abs module came "wet", that is to say already filled with brake fluid at the factory and with its four inlet/outlet joints closed with silicon caps. Am I right?
    Thank you for your time and willingness to share gour experience.

    • @ChilledPImoto
      @ChilledPImoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate - thanks. Yeah I have felt the rear working and pulsing a few times - like on some mountain roads when coming in a bit hot and the road surface is damp - so far I haven't had to use the front hard enough (no emergency situations luckily) to cause the ABS to work. The bleed is the usual process ... I just turned the ignition (and therefore the ABS) a few times so the ABS pump sucked the brake fluid through a little faster. It really is just like bleeding non-ABS brakes - the only difference is that there are extra hoses to fill - so it uses more fluid and takes a little longer to finish the job. Cheers

    • @ChilledPImoto
      @ChilledPImoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah that's the plan - once our restriction lift. At the moment too many checkpoints etc. I did a quick video of it installed before I made this one - it wasn't good quality. I also did a test video - but really a video from a camera on the bike can't show much. I hope to get a couple of other RC250 owners here to video us all to compare..... once we are allowed out again.

    Hay I just had a question I was able to find that same kit that you had gotten it was available at Alibaba express for $314, when you installed this system on your bike did you have to replace the wire harness with a original that had an ABS system? During the installation did you have to replace any of the computer systems? Or is this system just plug and play.

    • @ChilledPImoto
      @ChilledPImoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey mate - no need to replace harnesses etc. The wiring is pretty simple really. The units have their own ECU on the pump unit - doesn't affect your M/C ECU and fully self contained. All it needs is a 12V supply and ground for the ECU/Pump - and a signal wire spliced into the rear stop light wiring. It detects the brakes are pressed from there.

      just make sure to measure those bolt hole distances accurately for the sensor discs - or have a dremel handy to make minor adjustments. That was the only tiny delay in the install process. Cheers mate

    You've just answered my dilemma. I almost had an accident a while ago due to locking front and rear brakes at 80kph, fortunately I didn't panic and managed to balanced skid for around 10 meters before it unlocked. May I know where is the shop that helped you installing your ABS? I have an rc250 fi version btw.

    Could you install this system so you have abs for the front brake only?

    • @ChilledPImoto
      @ChilledPImoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe. The brakes still work as normal if the ABS fails. So theoretically you could hook it all up then unplug the rear sensor. It'd show a constant ABS error (sensor failure or missing) but the front ABS and rear standard brakes should still operate. I think you'd want to ask a seller of the kit if that's ok to do or if they have another idea.

      Will this work on 1100 V Star wit twin discs in front?

    • @hexantra
      @hexantra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChilledPImoto i think it's not that simple, because abs is calculating both wheel rotation to measure how many fluid to distribute for which brake that is used. #cmiiw
