What I love about this most of all is that it record the video to Files rather than the Photos app. It’s so great to have videos separate from photos, and being able to sort by size or other things. I’m glad they finally did this! Now we need an Apple Pro Photo app like this for photos as well!
I agree. I understood their perspective on a single settings app back when there was no App Store, and even early on when most app settings were basic things. But that quickly changed and having some in app settings and some in the settings app hasn’t made sense in a very long time.
@@gunggus105 Thing is that the phone is also used by a general public - not everyone wants to see a cluttered interface that ''Pros'' will use. The best solutions in this case is - if you need it, there is an app for that.
I’m using it with 4 IPads and iOS 17+18. It’s so helpful because I’m severely disabled and it was hard to record on an iPad 4 feet away, now I can control the cameras from Final Cut Pro
Thanks, this is the clearest how-to I've seen. It looks amazing. It's great that it works with almost any old iPhone. Old re-furb iPhones just went up in value!
Yes, you can export the full project from the iPad version of Final Cut Pro. I judt exported it, AirDropped it and then opened it in Final Cut Pro on Mac. EVerything all sync'd with the edits I made in the video and everything.
This is great! Glad they finally brought this. A photos app similar to this would be nice as well. Also curious as to why they couldn’t build some of or all of this into the default camera app…
It would be far too complicated for regular users - the iPhone camera is made so great by the automatic image processing that's going on behind the scenes, whereas this app is for those who want full control over the camera hardware. Just like with a DSLR camera, you can already take amazing pictures on Auto mode, but if you know what you're doing and willing to do the post-processing work yourself, its potential is multiplied several times over. That's what this app is for.
settings, I miss here, that I use often in pro camera apps: - being able to select, which mic of your device you want to use for the shot (front, or back, etc) - being able to record in cinematic aspect ratios, mostly exceeding 16:9
As a professional videographer, this is incredible actually if you add on a telephoto lens to the iPhone and iPad, I don’t really see the need for all my expensive cameras anymore. And the amount of control you have to change focus then and later to make all these changes from your iPad, watching your other iPhones and connection with it. It’s absolutely a game changer. There’s really no need for expensive video equipment for Weddings anymore. This can do everything. It’s absolutely totally incredible.
No need for specialized photo/video equipment if you and your client are OK with limited visual quality. Shooting on a phone is ergonomically challenging and it will negatively influence the process. Sounds like you are not a demanding professional which is not a good sign…
That is amazing! Remember in _Back to the Future_ when Doc picks up the JVC camcorder and says, _"A portable TV studio!"_ Well that was just a camera and VCR. Now we have cameras the size of a wallet, and a true television studio, live camera switching and post production editing in a tablet! We are living in the future..

I bought an S24 Ultra and have my iPhone 14 Pro Max as secondary, that I barely touched now. However, this is a game changer! This is exactly what I need and might turn me back to iPhone again. Wow, well done Apple!
Today it happened that Final Cut Camera on my iPhone 15 Pro Max recorded ProRes 422 HDR 4K 60p to the internal 1TB SSD of my iPhone 15 Pro Max like the Blackmagic camera app can record ProRes 422 HDR 4K 60p to the internal SSD. This clip on my MacBook Pro M1 QuickTime shows info "ProRes 422 HQ HDR HLG 4K 60p 12 bit"

Installed on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, will try some test footage later on. Looks like a great app, but because I don't own a current mac, or iPad, this will probably be limited to the iPhone for me. (in terms of cross device compatibility )
Can you also connect to an apple computer and have the screen recording be one of the videos? That would be great for tutorial videos where you want to record the screen and a video shot of your face and then easily pull it into Final Cut for multi cam editing.
It's a way to test the field to see how many people would utilize it, I'm sure, and see how to tweak it with feedback before polishing it and implementing it into phones, instead of having complaints of it not working properly after being forcibly pushed into a new update.
I downloaded it but, for some reason I only have a black/dark screen, I'm using an iPhone 14 Pro Max, but I'm on iOS 18 B1, do you think that's the problem for the dark screen?
I like the settings the app provides, but why do they limit the flip camera functionality from toggling between selfie and front camera???????? I only can record in ONE “direction”
This is awesome! Downloaded this before the end of the video! 😂 I’ll need to finish it cause I found out the hard way that this app was for video only!
@9:32 I always thought you were reading off of a script in your videos, as you rarely use fillers like "umm, uh" and you're so eloquent and you do make sure to cover everything that the video is about, and so I'm surprised to see there isn't anything to prompt you on the screen in front of you! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
It would be cool if they added some extra options like aspect ratio, ShutterSpeed Priority Mode, Ability to pick AAC versus lossless audio, ProRes preset selection, maybe even some log support as well. I wish they would bring Apple Log to iphone 14 :c
Aaron, This is awesome ! Thank you. I have a question. We like to record ants which as you probably know ,require a high zoom. We have a 15 Pro but sometimes the subject will go out of focus. Do you know of an app for Photos that works excellent for zooming in to small objects. And also do you recommend an add on lens device to augment the zoom feature clearly for very tiny objects that can be used in photos and videos? Thanks again!! I love your channel and you teach us so much.
That’s a non-pro video thing. Apple tries to make the camera like a professional camera which you cannot pause certain apps like TikTok allow you to do it though.
Do you know if apple is going to fix it where everything is much smaller then usual? Idk if people even care but I’m visually impaired and I don’t like my phone to look special and some text sizes bother me if it’s to big and I like to keep my home/Lock Screen at 130 and everything else at 160 and 160 is still small on iOS 18 and 190 is way way to big and nothing keeps it same size layout

Apple 🍎 needs to do this for the camera 📸 app for photo taking.
The zooming in and out feature is SUPERB!
Yeah, this NEEDS to be done for photos as well - this is SICK! Apple, if you are listening... "Final Cut Photos". Just sayin'....
How about Aperture. I just made up that name. 😉
I mean…Final Cut is a video editing software. So I don’t know if that makes sense.
