When you were tightening down the bolt underneath, did the washer with teeth grip the hole and dig in evenly? I had a lot of trouble getting it to tighten down evenly on my NB and stripped the bolt 😑
Sorry for the late reply, yup had no issues with the etching washer clamping fine, I’m sorry that happened! May need to hold down one side on ur next try till it starts gripping the metal.
I don’t know why US MX-5s are different, but my (Australian delivered) 2003 MX-5 (which I bought new) has an automatic aerial but mine only goes up only when the OEM head unit is set to radio. I turn to CD, or the OEM MiniDisc module, or (aftermarket) Bluetooth, and the aerial goes down. I have never been able to understand why the same car in the US has the aerial up whenever the head unit is powered on, regardless of input.
Should be just about the same! Main difference will be if you have the 5-speed, just need to clean out and refill the turret oil from up top where the shifter mounts, which is separate from the main transmission fluid reservoir filled from underneath. 6-speeds do not have a turret to fill.
This helped a lot! im going to do an antenna delete, now i know I there is a drain on the botton that i need to watch out for.
Glad I could help!! Hope your install goes well, appreciate you watching!

What do you click or hold to put the antenna down
No switch for the antenna specifically, basically goes up and down with the radio being turned on and off!

WOW I’m surprised how these little things can be so different pertaining to the market haha I definitely prefer some non-US options
Is the installation the same for the NA Miata?

Why did u put the electrics back on 🤦🏻♂️you only need the antenna 🤷🏻♂️
Haha cause I like it all to be reverse-able as easily as possible!
Power antenna was way cooler, what a downgrade
I can appreciate your input and I can see your valid opinion but for me it was quite an upgrade! Thanks for watching anyways haha.
