“ACT I” is Tarja’s first solo live audio and video product in her rock outfit. The main content was filmed and recorded on two show nights this March 2012 in Rosario, Argentina, at the Teatro El Círculo. The video products include plenty of extras - video and photo material.
With the elaborate track listing and its extras, “ACT I” provides the full-fledged bill of fare to either Tarja fan. The track listing consists of Tarja’s greatest solo tracks, Nightwish classics as well as some cover versions, such as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’ and marvellous Gary Moore’s ‘Over The Hills and Far Away’ - or to make it short: a unique blend of music selection. The set up of these HD filmed concerts meant an incredible extra work and effort in the live production - with an impressive result, but also an emotional rollercoaster-ride. While Tarja is magnificient as always, this doesn't compare to Tarja and Marko doing this song together.
Actually it is superb, Diego is fantastic and looks the part a bit better than little Marco .
It matches it until the last 60 seconds or so then he backs off and leaves far too much responsibility on Tarja to finish it on her own. I thought he'd lost his voice.

This woman taught me to sing and find my voice. I have a very over developed head voice and under developed chest voice because for five years in middle and high school I only sang Nightwish songs (there’s no Nightwish without Tarja). I mimicked her tone and tried matching her pitch. It worked too. I can now hit very high notes with an operatic sound. You are still my queen Tarja!

Sorry, I on the other hand, find Nightwish to be far more dynamic and have a far greater vocal range with Floor. Don't get me wrong, Tarja was great for her operatic vocals but that was all she had. Even when Tarja belted she did so in an operatic style, not in a rock/metal style. Floor has shown that she is able to transition from operatic vocals to hard rock/metal belting and metal growls, often within the same song. Consider this, most compare Floor to Tarja based on how well Floor can cover operatic songs written for Tarja, like Ghost Love Score, but I have yet to see Tarja able to cover any of Floors metal songs where she would have to deliver Floor's metal growls, such as Floor's work with Revamp.

They forced to go in that direction if they want to continue or cant do easy to take a new soprano (that doesn't work) in the band to keep the original band music line! Peace man I like Floor to but I love Tarja!

My Life thanks for the post. It really shows clearly how good Tarja is, when you hear someone who is not as good. BTW: Floor Janssen is great singer also. Both work hard on the technical side of singing. Tarja is, however, unique.

To me, this performance is a close second to the Nightwish End of an Era performance. Both are brilliant. With Tarja’s performance and that of the band plus the arrangement, I do believe that this could have challenged the Nightwish version , maybe even bettered it, IF the Phantom could have matched Marko. I agree with other commenters that instead of continuing to build to the climax he kind of just stopped. Whilst being good, he sounded like a guest singer, which he was, rather than being a member of a tight knit band. Still being a close second to the Nightwish version is still very high praise. Love the crowd’s involvement by the way.

OH my goodness. Tarja recaptaured her glory singing with Marco in Nightwish. Mike Terranna kills it, and he stays RIGHT in the pocket. What a guy. What a brilliant performance by ALL of the players. And once again, what a great song.
After a second listen, Marco really stepped up and kicked ass at the end of the original NW version............and this guy just handed off the final vocals to Tarja.
Just serves to illustrate how incredibly talented and cohesive that first Nightwish was....and why they produced such magic.
After a second listen........then going back to the original...one of my ALL TIME FAVES , Marco really stepped up and finished the song with powerful vocals. This guy let Tarja finish it herself. Teranna IMHO would have been a better replacement for Jukka, but NW did not get him : Tarja did. He hits hard and perfectly in this song. No ego fills or showing off. Jukka approves I am sure.
For me, is the best version so far. Her band is incredible. Her skills had improved so much and the vibe in that theatre is amazing.

I used to like Tarja's voice, not love but like. She's done a few pretty solid things with Nightwish back in the days. Never loved her in The Phantom, but she did fine. This one though was really hard for me to listen to. I had to keep myself from skipping and just checking if she could finish it without a faceplant. Well, she did hit the last notes but it was not at all comfortably executed, strained, cutting notes short and lack of depth in the voice as if she was nervous. Every singers voice change with age, also hers and her naturally very slow vibrato can't be allowed to be any slower. I must say though, I don't know who the male singer is, but I think he does a pretty solid job.
I do not know any singer that can sing Phantom of the Opera this good after almost two hours non stop singing rock songs and being 5-6 months pregnant.

From a technical standpoint this was an excellent performance. You should facepalm (I think that's what you meant because faceplant means falling on the ground face-first) about your ignorance on singing techniques instead.
