The closer the try (putting the ball down on the end zone, worth 5 point) is to the goal post, the closer the kicker can take kick at the post for the extra 2 points. So if you get a touchdown on the corner, the kicker has to kick from a far away distance (those beautiful long kicks), but if the touchdown is under the goal post the kicker kicks from close by, directly at the post (making it an easy +2 points, on top of the +5 from the try). Wonderful to see you guys getting into rugby more & more as the episodes release.
Cheslin is from a very poor background. The areas of Cape Town known for gang violence. He inspires many kids to strive for something better. A true hero
what allot of these compilations dont show is his incredible defence as well. Especially with how South Africa play. There have been so many times where he has just stopped the enemy advance in its tracks, sometimes entirely, other times long enough for the team to come in and assist
Beautiful seeing players play in our Nationals with various teams, rising up to the challenge to become a Springbok, our International Team & only the best will do when we build Champions for the WorldCup.
In rugby the positions are so different you cant really compare all the players like that. Kolbe is the best winger in my opinion. Eben Etzebeth also plays for South Africa/ Springboks and hes a "forward", so a big heavy dude basically that focuses more on grunt work. Watch him, hes also incredible, 6'8 120kg and violent lol.
reason why we hold on to the ball longer before trying is not for show boating , his being mindful of the kicker ,making it easier and closer for him to the poles.
The position where you place the ball when you try determines the position of where the ball will be placed for the conversion . So it's better to try and put it closely to the poles rather than the far ends of the pole so as to avoid those angles when kicking for the conversion 💪🙏
A try is 5 points. Once you've scored the try, you get to convert that try with a kick, which is an extra 2 points. Wherever the ball touches in the goal area is the place where you get to take the kick from infield. It's up to the kicker to decide how far out from the try line he wants to place the ball, but it still has to be in the line from where the try was scored. It can be taken from 5 meters or even 50 meters out from the try line. A penalty kick is 3 points. The same works with a penalty kick. The penalty is taken from the exact spot the penalty was given by the referee, which is also the same spot where the foul play was committed by the other team.
FYI the position that they score the try in relation to poles determined the position of the conversion kick. So closer you down the try to the poles, the easier it is for them to convert / kick for the extra points.
They don't wait long to put it down, the more closer you put it down towards the poles the easier the conversion kick will be, because it will be either inline with the poles or closer
They run closer to the "poles" to score the try (5 points) to make it easier for the guy who kicks to the "end pole" (2 points). So the kickers placement of the ball is in line with where the try was scored.
So the reason they try to run towards the uprights in the end zone is to make it easier for the kicker who has to try and add 2 points to turn the try into a goal.
Please react to some South African school rugby. School rugby in SA is seriously mind blowing. The SA Sevens rugby team wow wow wow as well. Love your reactions by the way.
You get to kick between the posts for an extra 2 points (conversion) after a try, from where the ball was placed, so closer behind the posts is an easier kick, hope that explains it?😎
Not showboating the closer to the poles, the easier the conversion kick...right under the poles . A conversion under the poles...easy kick.,and 2 points.
It aint showboating, its for extra points. The closer they "touch down" to the centre of the field the easier the kick for an extra 2 points. 5 points for a try and 2 more for the conversion.
It is more showboating the closer to the posts the easier the conversion for the kicker every try that is 5 points and then afterwards you kick a conversion 2 points for a total of 7
What his moving, you thought that an early age, not really from NFL, it just doesn't get the spotlight like the hits cause if i'm not average rugby player get into at least 5 car crash rated collisions per game, so those get the spotlight more than the swift movement you see there, plus those are like megs, no one wants to be embarrassed like that, so them big dudes are coming in all directions tryna kill you
South African here, Cheslin Kolbe is a crazy talented Athlete, but the rugby player probably most akin to Messi is probably Damian Mckenzie from the All blacks
The reason why the run with the ball in the “end zone” is because the team has to kick the try conversion in line w wherever they dot the ball dow. So it’s better to dot the ball closer to the polls so the conversion kick is easier. Hope that helps. Plus love the rugby content.

Kolbe's cousin is Wayde van Niekerk - current world and Olympic record holder in 400m and also runs 100m & 200m. Blits-vinnige familie! Both humble and God-fearing athletes. Kolbe always thanks God after a try. I see Arendse does the same. Habana also did it.
The goosestep (goosey) is known in NFL as a dead-kick. Kolbe is exceptionally talented in this and also the side step and the swerve. In the one you step/change direction at point of acceleration and the other is a step/swerve when you are already in acceleration-mode. Kolbe also seems to have mastered the art of being thrown about by opppsition, like a rag-dol, and falling safely. And not being afraid of the big guys.
The narrative of this Kolbe compilation is to show his versatility as a rugby player and highlighting his athleticism. He can play any backline position and play it well. As shown - From right wing (no 14) to left wing (no 11); back (no 15) and even do conversion kicks (field goal). He is fast, very fast. Though small, he packs a lot of muscle and not scared of getting in the big tackles. As an aside, a try is called a try, because it used to count as 3 points (tri). As mentioned by others above, touching down closer to the poles earns a better conversion position. Touching down between the poles earns a kick right in front of the poles, 5m abreast. Fouling a player that was without doubt, on his way to score a try, gets a penalty try awarded with a goalkick right in front of the posts...! Welcome to rugby. To answer your question why they take so long to put it down. It's not showboating, the closer the try to the poles the closer the conversion kick to the post too, so that is why they always try to get under the post or nearer

Should point out rugby players don't do as well in NFL as you might expect. It's a different game in many respects, but what trips up most players is the plays they have to memorize. In rugby they have set plays, but since it's a free-flowing game, the play can change on-the-fly, but this doesn't compare to the sheer number of plays the average NFL team need to memorize. Also, if you suddenly put on pads and a helmet, it will feel very cumbersome and is something to get used to. Another point to consider, is that the ball size, weight and texture is different, which could lead to handling errors if you cannot adapt to the change.
In rugby the continuously run length of the field back-and-forth and in football teams tend to stay on their sides, is this correct? How long is a typical NFL game?

When you score a try, what follow is a conversion which is like a bonus chance to add to your try points. In order for conversion to be converted easily the try must be closer to the poles. That's why it's wise to get as close as possible to the posts before you score a try
They are waiting that long to make the try, because where you make the try depends where you kick the ball from to get the conversion. A try is 5 points and when you kick it over afterwards, it's 2 points. That's the conversion.

touching the ball down is called a Try and is only half of the play after a try you get to kick the ball between the goal posts that's called a conversion and you score addtipnal points it's all part of the same play you score a try and then a conversion so they try to get the ball as close to the middle of the goal posts as possible so the conversion is easier ... south africa (springboks) are the world champions back to back 2019 and 2023 we love our boys they are the best
They wait so long to put the ball down because the closer they get to below the posts the easier It is for the kicker to score the next 2 points by kicking through the posts. After a try (5points) you get a goal kick attempt from as far back as you like but it must be in line with where you put the ball down. That is why they try get to below the posts. The ball is still in play until you put it down. The opposing team must tackle you to stop you getting below the posts.
Hi spring bok is our national squad in south Africa. The reason it given this nickname spring bok it the word from a farthest animal that is difficult for a lion or cheater to catch it because it difficult to predict which way it gonna move in a second it can jump or turn in a small space into different directions. It is a self defense relying on it tactics and speed.
The reason for taking longer to place the ball down, is simply to get closer to the goal poles. The closer you put the ball down, the closer you get to convert the kick to follow...
One of the opponent player he was so confused and he ask the referee why is it springboks player is allowed to use a motor bike in a field and he was talking about Cheslin kolbe? the referee says What😳😳?
If the ball is doded down closed to the post then the kick for conversation will be easy and when it's doded far from the post then the kick for conversation will be more difficult
bro has noo interest in american football, rugby players look down on that lower sport forget that he is an american football fan these guys grow up playing only rugby

The ball is still in play until you put it down. The opposing team must tackle you to stop you getting below the posts.
Cheslin is gold ...a must watch the game between south Africa 🇿🇦 and France 2023
If the ball is doded down closed to the post then the kick for conversation will be easy and when it's doded far from the post then the kick for conversation will be more difficult
bro has noo interest in american football, rugby players look down on that lower sport
forget that he is an american football fan these guys grow up playing only rugby
remember in rugby you may only pass backwards. forward passes cause a penalty to be given to the opposing team
I think if you suggested Colby play American football he might just laugh at you
the kicker kicks for poles inline of where they put the ball down for a try(touchdown), so they try get as close to the poles as possible
