There was a scene in the movie Boiler Room where they're trying to sell a stock to someone and his supervisor was motioning to him to stay silent and let the guy he was pitching the stock to say the next thing. Silence can be a powerful tool when 2 people are talking. Sooner or later someone's gotta break that silence and it's usually the guy you want information (or money) from to be the one to speak next. Great interview and interview style.
@@j1koffroad658 feeling a need to fill silence in conversation is an indicator of anxiousness and can put who you're talking to in a mindset to shorten their responses because they may feel like you're not going to give them a chance to think through their response. may be worth thinking about

The guy who owns the plane,
is a perfect example of how most super wealthy people think.
They are constantly re-evaluating everything, including their mental and physical well being, always searching for areas to improve on.
I grew up in a upper middle class town where i was constantly around very wealthy people, being a poor kid, I always took any opportunity to ask questions. If we were driving together, the longer the ride, the more questions. I got to the point of seeing how these people tick. I will say, it has serve me well, as I writing this from 40k feet up in the air from my privately owned jet....
Mad respect to who James is as a person. He has demonstrated that he’s not just some soulless billionaire. He is a deep thinker who values life, genuine connection, hard work, no BS, mental/physical health, being trauma informed, and making a meaningful impact on society. “The Body Keeps The Score” is one of my favorite books. I was excited to hear him mention it. What stuck out to me the most in this conversation was the emphasis on being healthy. I loved his prediction that the economy is going to shift from being materialistic to more fulfilling each others needs interpersonally. “Not so much monetarily…but emotionally.” That sounds amazing! We all need that. I am very hopeful for that type of cultural shift. Favorite quote from this conversation: “Life is about the quality of your emotions”. Sending whoever reads this love and positivity.

For me, I modulate my emotions through god and the belief itself changed my brain and I’ll explain how. Every day I wake up, I know that I’ve been given life in order to enjoy the priceless things god intended for me to enjoy like love and suffering. That’s not to say I don’t want to crush it in business because financial freedom is something I really want. Your consciousness didn’t always exist and it arose from what seemed to be nothing and you, and multiple others, were given this gift of life. Oftentimes the unhappiness just comes from the way you think about life and it’s curated from nothing but what resides in the mind. As a little kid you appreciated everything because everything was new to you, and were unafraid of people’s judgement when it comes to how you had fun and expressed yourself. Go do something that’s new and thank god for it. We were the most happy and most alive as kids. I find the most joy in helping other people become stronger and happier.

Absolutely, but it was all planned, the intervjue. But still great video!
I understand perfectly well why billionaires need business jets, but as an aviator, it pains me to look at such a huge amount of empty space in his jet. You don't need such a distance between the seats, nor such a high ceiling. An airplane doesn't have to try to be the size of a home movie theater. These non-essential things add a tremendous amount to the cost of the jet and the cost of its operation. Not to mention the fuel burn - because of transporting so much empty space, the pollution from this jet is MUCH greater than it could be. Comfort in a private jet should be no more than comfort in a good car. Anything more is absolute economic inefficiency, ignorance, and selfishness.

This guy is the ultimate unassuming cool guy. He’s a billionaire that talks to you like an equal. Love that he explains that we eat the same stuff, have the same problems, he just has more resources to try to fix his problems, but overall we’re all the same. This is the guy that you can play weekly poker with smoke cigars and just hanging out like a normal human. Bravo to you on getting on the plane. This interview has got to be life changing for you. What a great down to earth ex navy man that's made good decisions in his life. It is so generous of him to take people along on his trip. He's definitely a good human being. Money changes most people, but it doesn't seem to have changed this man. Great video!
Love how Noah doesn't talk when he's answering. There's quite a bit of awkward silence, but you can tell Noah anticipates this and it pushes James to dig deeper into his answers. Too many interviewers talk more than they should which keeps a lot of golden nuggets from interviewees hidden.
Yes! So many interviewers on tv talk over (think Bill Hemmer) their guests, suppose they think they’re viewpoint is more important. If you manage to book a quality guest, shut up and listen. Noah instinctively seems to know this.

totally - going from lower-middle/blue-collar to ultra-wealthy isn't a walk in the park. Granted, he put in the work but I'm sure he'd tell you about the intensity of the internal work and the changes of perception being equally as challenging. Giving up one extreme identity for another isn't easy, friends. It's nice to hear from these people how they've transitioned.
i feel like those jet expenses are a way of finding out how he makes financial decisions. his answer showed his mindset - it costs x, but it saves y time, so its worth it.

Good to hear a rich guy who didnt come from wealth, and is grounded to wanting better of his country. There wasnt the arrogance or mentality if bragging about his wealth and power. Seemed more of a regular person, not like many billionaires who think they have a tight to control what we inject into our body, determine what we eat and censor our information like that worm who used to run Mic,ro,soft.
"Physical health is mental health" So true! I watch some strongmen, one of them retired, that say working out helped their depression. Or fitness influencers that ask people at gyms why they come to the gym. You will be surprised how many people said they did it to get fit, but found that it also helped their depression. Some even said their depression was cured by going to the gym, using their bodies. Physical health is SO important.

For example: Bill Gates is a billionaire because millions of Servers and Computers are using Windows (not to mention all the other software). Jeff Bezos made the biggest Marketplace in the world aswell as the biggest Cloud-Company as of today. I could give you more examples but you hopefully see my point. I used to own a small limo service in south Florida and billionaires as well as millionaires used my company. I learned so much from the billionaires because they all had a similar mindset to this gentleman. They seemed humble, even when discussing great accomplishments, and like this man, were mostly involved in relationship building. I got to be a fly on the wall when they made calls in my car. Most went something like this - "I want John for this project, however, Lisa will be upset if she doesn't get the assignment, so make sure we put Lisa on this other assignment because I know she was also very interested in that one." Also, they seemed like they could care less about money. Millionaires liked to brag about "I have this, I drive that, I've been to all these exotic places." Billionaires seemed very down to earth. They'd say things like, "did you see the football game last night?" What a great interview!
this bit of nuance you picked up on is pretty interesting. I imagine the billionaires were once like the millionaires but grew out of it. Fascinating psychology...

His response to when asked why he let them on the plane is awesome. "Why not? There's empty seats." A truly humble, well spoken guy. If only we as a collective had more of his way of thinking we'd be a lot better off. I thoroughly enjoyed this little interview. A lot of great info to take away from. James took a risk by letting Noah on the plane...but a calculated one. I don't know anything about James, but he comes off as genuine, intelligent and the results clearly speak for themselves. I think James has provided some valuable insight and likely inspired many others to do bigger and better things to improve the world we live in and solve problems.

you could tell before the interview even began. he was willing to help a random guy who said he was making a youtube video. and he didn't seem like he was doing it for the attention or trying to make himself look cool/stroke his own ego, it seemed like he was only helping out a stranger

@@jimbean6500 in the beginning of this video I swear the guy was driving a 3 series. He explained his jet being a tool not a prize. So what your saying is true, but once you realize money is tool and not just money. Things do change and you end up with a garage full of tools if that makes an sense

I love how patient and quiet the interviewer is as he waits for James to respond . It allows the person being interviewed to fully open up , let down guard and share .

Thank you so much for giving us a chance to listen into your interview. It was very insightful and thought provoking. The only thing that i felt would bring everything into a whole circle is including the animals. As living, thinking, feeling soul beings. Especially when it comes to changing the world and living a healthier lifestyle by incorporating sun energised, water rich plant based foods that make you feel alive instead of dead animal flesh that also stores lots of emotional suffering and is (from what ive learned) not even possible to be properly digested by the human body. And i would also include the relationship with the land, the earthly realm that we are able to nourish, to talk to and be nourished from. Other than that, I could often resonate with what he was saying. Especially when it came to looking within, your internal world, balancing your energies, and taking care of your-cell/self, and your body. Such an inspiring, down to earth conversation. 👏🏽🥰

In my experience, most rich people are a lot like this guy (I grew up around wealthy people, so I've gotten to know quite a few over the years). Most of them just want to live comfortably and be responsible with their money. They have very little incentive to live lavishly because that's a great way to invite harassment or negative attention in general (think about whether it's worth it to drive a Ferrari and wear designer clothing all the time, if that means you get people treating you like shit all the time). The people that tend to be ruined by wealth are those that become rich very quickly while they're very young (most of them being actors, musicians, and athletes), and the people that grew up rich and never really learned the value of money. But, it's people like that that are the exception, not the rule (they also don't typically stay rich very long)

I'm studying Social Work in Germany and had a therapy session myself, yesterday. It is so frustrating, i feel like I don't fit into society and everybody is just seeing limits and is negative. This is what podcasts need to be. Just a pure value filled conversation between 2 highly disciplined & motivated people. Noah knew exactly what to ask and when to speak, he used his time extremely well. James on the other hand would make such a good mentor, I'd pay anyting to be coached under this guy. Sadly social media has made it so only people that speak big and dress big will get an audience. Entreprenuers like James need to be on there preaching.
