@@jasonmartinez5116 That's good for those wanting to get it physical, I'd say. I think, like the first Taito Milestones, all the games on there will use the same Arcade Archives emulation as the standalone digital releases.
You prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother during the lockdown xD
I know your comment is old, but I figured I'd run this by you just in case: Gun Frontier will be re-released on modern systems as part of the Arcade Archives brand on 8/12/22!
Very tough shmup, saw an expensive (these days anyway) Saturn port, and released on a US and a Japanese Taito compilation, that's how I play this one these days (both the latter, not the former due to how expensive it is).
Yes, but the Saturn version is known to be a bit easier than the arcade version. It's not flashy and all that, but it will keep you playing it for a good while.
lightsouthaha Oh I can guess about Saturn import prices in 2 words, not cheap. Though Layer Section and Darius Gaiden can still be had for around $20 each (when I bought them they were $10 each). PS1 and Saturn collecting is something I try to do, but the Saturn import side has become far far tougher with those nasty prices. PS1 still has some cheap stuff to be had.
lightsouthaha I loathe resellers, they are pricing many collectors out of the market. Myself once I buy a game, it is like prison, never to leave, never to wind up in someone else's possession again.
Must've missed this one! Looks fereekin' great! I guess I was too busy trying to beat Truxton back in those days to notice this one (Truxton has no end, it just starts over....man was I pissed!!).
lightsouthaha I used to love the shmups for the Turbografix 16- Blazing Lazers was a fave- not so hard you're hitting "continue" every 35 seconds!! The NES ones were far too difficult for me!!! That's when I started getting the casual cpu shmups like Firecrow, Demon Star, Alien Outbreak, Platypus, Crusaders of Space.....nice level difficulty that keeps you playing!! Good luck building your collection!
And the development of the game was a feat within itself, especially since the designer had to work on the game during an intense summer heatwave which had him scrambling to keep the computers that had the source code from overheating.
Metal Black was a project for Gun frontier 2
Epic Arcade Action from the 90s! The music always brings back good memories!
Heads up, Gun Frontier fans! This game will be re-released as part of the Arcade Archives brand on 8/12/22!
Nice. Even though i have it on the Taito Egret II Mini
Taito Milestones 2 will also get this game along with it's sequel Metal Black

Hell yeah this game is awesome! What could possibly be any better than planes that are giant flying guns? Rockin soundtrack too!
One of the best shooters. Great soundtrack.
It really matches the game title Gun Frontier when everything ends with a simple gun battle

+Julie-Su Echidna Ah! Can anyone save us from this hell...
Instead, the "servivors" were given lima beans.
I'm a big arcade fan but never seen this! Would have definitely played it in the arcade if I'd seen it, looks great.
Holy banana! Thats just beautiful!

The backgrounds for this game are gorgeous.
This game is a classic. Beating the final boss with only six rounds is hard. Also it's called Gun Frontier.
what happen if you fail???
Sonic Ace 24 You get a bad ending.
From Brendyn Robertson; Final boss require only 1 bullet to destroy, so you'll get good ending if you success.
Six round final showdown is the moment of truth for this game!

lightsouthaha No problem, the Taito Legends 2 versions pretty good and arcade tough as it's emulated.

+lightsouthaha If their goal was to get my quarters, they certainly achieved that!!!!

This game kind of reminds me of Change Air Blade, Battle Garegga, and Battle Bakraid.
+silverreploid CLE Battle Garegga was inspired by this game, the main programmer loved Gun Frontier.
The Engrish.. Soo AWESOME :D
Final stage the music reminds me growl game
The NRA's favourite arcade game.
Man that an amazing game
