Going to a new venue with limited information is an adventure itself! Literally one of the best parts of fishing is not knowing what or where you’ll catch 😊 Great video George! Nice seeing you catch more grayling as they are underrated fish! 😊
@@adventurefishingukI'm not surprised there were no fish seen for hours...stomping around a tiny river like a rhino 🦏 and casting shadows over the water and making so much disturbance before even casting, and then smashing the water with every cast. Great video. Beautiful countryside, with that weather? Come on, and what a lovely fish! But really felt you in that first part of the video. We all have those days. But this goes to show that fishing isnt only about catching fish.
@@adventurefishinguk Absolutely. About the best looking fish in UK rivers. I think a nice big perch might just take the crown but grayling are beautiful.
Brilliant mate stunning fish only ever caught one in my life and it was on a 00 mepps was out today fishing and blanked fishing for carp but it’s probably a bit early for them up here ln Scotland.
Nice one. You're right that fishing isn't and shouldn't be about catching fish. I blanked again today, but I don't really care. I had a good day on the river and saw two kingfishers. That's more than enough.
Absolutely mate! Have to take the slow days with the good, makes it all the more worthwhile when it happens 👍 recently saw some kingfishers feeding, it was a great sight
Nice1 George I’ve only had 2 grayling must have been 20 years ago in my local river which was almost exclusively browns but in the same swim within 10 minutes I got them on sweetcorn I’ve never caught or heard of any being caught since 🤷🏼♂️ take it easy & tight lines ✌🏼💙👍🏼🏴

Just with me living up in the sticks it gets a bit colder than the towns and villages at lower levels.. Hi mate, love the video. I have a question, when you plan these fishing trips for yourself, do you try and research free stretches or do you buy day tickets from a club? Cheers.
I'm glad that you eventually got the fish that your perseverance deserved. Just a little bit of advice ; chub are notorious for heading straight into snags, so fishing for them in that snaggy swim at 9:00 in the video wasn't a great idea. Your chance of getting a decent chub out of all that structure was small. The feeder rig was fine. No point in overcomplicating it.
@@adventurefishinguk Yes I did. The best times to fish for larger fish is right before the close season. Pulled Chub out over 5ibs. However, it’s a quality Grayling fishery as well as plenty of trout. Trotting is normally the best method to be honest.
I live in WA State in the Pacific NW and we used maggots for kokanee trout in some of the lakes. My grandfather used to stick them in his mouth to, he said, warm them up so they wiggled more and attracted the trout. As a youngster, I believed him. But now, as a senior citizen, I think he was having us on with a bit of fun.
Great to hear you're watching from over the pond! Your grandfather wasn't alone in that, over in the UK i've heard stories of competition anglers putting them in their mouths to warm them up too. Only in winter though. I'm not sure how effective it is, but i suppose if there's money on the line in a competition then even a small advantage can help! That said, i wouldn't be in a hurry to put maggots in my mouth 😂 Thanks for watching!
Another cracking video George, I'm going to take the plunge and make a TH-cam channel of my fishing, lots of free and mystery places where I live, you got any advice as to what to do as a beginner on TH-cam lol
Thanks mate! Where do you live? You’ll have to let me know when you get your first video I’ll check it out. I answered your question on another comment
Hey George, another good video, I'm thinking of starting a channel, lots of epic places to fish where I live, any pointers for a beginner, starting out vlogging. Thanks
Thanks mate! You should get yourself a half decent GoPro, doesn’t need to be new maybe a refurbished hero 8 black. The most important thing at the start is to enjoy the process 👍
Biggest tip and you did learn this. Use BARBED HOOKS. This isn't a commercial fishery where fish get caught daily. These are wild rivers where the odd barbed hook is not going to do any permanent damage to the fish.
In some cases I agree, but not for grayling. They're one of the species that gets deep hooked the most, it can be tough getting a barbless hook out sometimes but a barbed one even more so
@Adventure Fishing UK that's another thing. Grayling fishing should be tradition be done with a float as to avoid the problem you brought up. Feeder fishing is actually banned on many Grayling waters. Your videos are brilliant by the way. It's very clever the way you bring mystery and superstition back to angling. Teleporting many anglers back to their youth when there was no Internet and you would go to your local back water stream or park pond and had no idea what you would catch. Its fascinating and in your videos you really bring the magic back to angling which has sadly been lost with the craze of carp waiting and cruel match fishing. Keep up the good work.
@@adventurefishinguk Great videos by the way, yeah by fishing downstream the current pulls the line tight so you can tell when somethings havin' a nibble at your bait.
RGB is basically Red Green Blue, if you look at the fins of the fish, they have a kind of Irredesant quality, in the gaming industry , RGB is a cool thing
Take a bankstick and feeder rest with you , and when fishing feeder , watch the tip , not do other stuff . Get a decent maggot box , they sweat and smell like p-ss , and that might put fish off . Pack a pair of stout leather or chainsaw gloves , secateurs and a folding saw , you can then deal with brambles and saplings . Tackle going down steep banks on your bum -it the biggest brake you have . Stunning Lady , worth the pain for that one fish .

When you're fishing with a feeder or ledger weight you should always cast downstream.
