From our perspective, Aphrodite could have found the Trojan prince a single woman for him to marry. But, she IS a goddess, so it's likely she sees timelines we don't, and proccesses them, so she most likely knew he was meant to be prince again, and in that life, only Helen was worthy of him, and vice-versa. I mean, she IS the goddess of love and beauty. Pretty sure it's her job to be the ultimate shipper. Sure, you could argue she could have just accepted loss. But Greek Gods were known to be toxic to each other. Do you really think for her, in that Pantheon, losing was an option ?
And I mean, Eros only compells you to love, but doesn't force anything else. If Helen chose her love for the former sherperd over her lust to her husband, that means there was no true love. The conflict in the myth is between logic, loyalty and love. Not love vs love. That has to mean something, no ?
