  • Maputo Mozambique was a very unique experience for us.
Join us in this video to see why... :)
Maputo, formerly named Lourenço Marques, is the capital of Mozambique.
The city has wide avenues lined with red acacia and lilac jacaranda flowering trees and offers the tourist innumerable historical, cultural and scenic spots.
    Enjoy!

I was born 78 years ago in Lourenço Marques (Maputo) and profoundly glad to see mine beloved city though your videos which they brings so many great memories and homesick. I congratulate to you and your three beautiful daughters with courageous and bravery to encounter many hardships including cultural differences, language difficulties, adjusting food dietary, avoid bandits, trusting people though your gut and instinct feeling, and untimely not giving up to sharing your stories with us that unquestionably beneficial to all Mozambicans and to those never been to Africa. Please share with us your future ventures though your videos. Three cheers and bravo.

interesting Fact : The chilli spice is known and pronounced as ‘piri-piri' It takes its name from Swahili - ‘piri-piri’ which means ‘pepper-pepper’ - and has morphed into several iterations due to accent differences, dialect pronouciation into ‘pili-pili’ and ‘peri-peri’. The product you pointed at in the video is made by Robertson Spice a company based in a town called Robertson in South Africa.

I am sorry to complain ... but you did not see anything of this beautiful country. you showed yourself in the video and your safe accomodation. but you were afraid to visit the sites outside of cool super markets and taxis. I do understand because of your children. but still, this is neither true capital Maputo with all its culture, art, music, people, colours ... nor the true life and "standards" of the country of Mocambique, an honest and great place of amazing people.

      @@yawnpherella .
GrowingUpWB showed me positively that they understood my feedback. that they understood, it is my honest opinion which I wrote here. and ESPECIALLY that it is no attack or criticism to their personality and their family. Tyler & Chantal are really great to get out of our safe western world to discover this world, and also such poor countries like Mocambique. my big respect.
Your statement -however- is just .... poor. Because you do not accept others opinion. You even try to ban statements from other people. I do have a high respect of the people of Mocambique, their culture, their history, their life. But I am honest to also mention, that Maputo is different to all the huge rest of the country, and Hotels & Resorts are different to the true life of most people.
btw, I placed more critical feedback to a "want2be" influencer called Miss T*** who prefered to present her smily face in restaurants or some Maputo buildings out of a black-limo-tour complaining about toi paper?! So, if you want to beat me, then do it because of such feedback.
@GrowingUpWB, in case that you still somehow felt hurted by my comment, then please accept my recommendation to come back to this country to visit more of its beauty and its people. I cannot call it "invitation" as I am also only a lil foreigner :-)

Luisa, I hear you. And maybe it's okay that they went to finer places that address their comfort instead of the true, Mozambican parts of the country. I remember when I was little there were many tourists visiting my city, and even staying for months working for the government. I do remember these tourists not paying much attention to us natives, like we weren't walking along the same sidewalk as they were. We couldn't keep our eyes off of them, fascinated by how they looked---we gawked at them for sure. Now I think they were probably in shock of our living conditions, and terrified at the realization that they could have been born in our country instead of in Russia. hahahaha At the end, my thought is that you can move your body places, but you are who you are wherever you go. We can think like my grandfather used to say, "Yes, they are nice. They don't hurt anyone."

Hey Larissa! Thanks for your lovely comment.
It was actually Chloe’s voice you hear saying “stop it”. She’s not shy to share her feelings or express herself. Just wait for one of the upcoming video when a baboon gets in our car and Chloe screams at it. It was so funny. 😂😂😂

Growing Up Without Borders Ya know what, right after I wrote that I thought...oh..that could be Chloe too...I'm not sure! Bc we couldn't see their faces when you poor guys were getting pushed and shoved. But, yes, looking forward to that video you mentioned....lol Chloe you're awesome! All of your girls are amazing in their own unique way! And it says a lot about their maturity and character when seeing how they handle all of this! They are very strong girls.
You've obviously doing a great job raising them! :) I know when I was a kid and traveled with my parents overseas, it was much harder for me to adapt to the culture shock..they are so open to new experiences as well as very adaptable. (i.e., eating what is available in each country like Julia talked About in a recent video). I never hear them complain! They're great role models for other young girls who want to travel.

Ah that’s so sweet of you to say. They’re definitely very adaptable and open minded. I think because they’ve seen so much and experienced so many different things that it shaped them into who they are.

Before 1974 Mozambique was a multi cultural society with great beauty and wonderful clean beaches cheap seafood restaurants that many South Africans would visit.

      Jose Coelho
It can come back to that if more Portuguese and Brazilian would come back, also Indians from Goa and Chinese.
The only problem is the Polisario party and the CIA who was giving money and weapons to keep the country in poverty.
Portugal abandoned the country with all its gold and foreign currency instead of trying to save the Portuguese legacy and protect the people like France was able to achieve.
Now China took the role that Portugal should have done, but it's not too late to come back. The future of Portugal is the world, not a dieing old Europe

I have an eye witness that lived there in 1970 who returned in 1994 to Maputo and verified it’s not the same city. The parks and streets were dirty and terribly looked after. Potholes everywhere.

yut ki the only reason there’s any prosperity in Mozambique is because China has taken massive economic control of the country. Angola is the same completely taken over by Chinese multinational companies.

    • @TheManuel012009

yut ki Mozambique and Angola aren’t doing any better than Portugal. Lisbon is thriving in tourism much better than Maputo period no argument there.

Samora Moisés Machel became the first President after independence...had NO education...believed Marxism-Leninism, and

I grew up in south africa and the one thing I don't miss is the security issues and the fact that africans do not know how to queue up and just over crowd everything. Also how constantly get harassed when walking around. Which you seem to detail very well in this video without doing it on purpose. It ends up making you question why you do it lol and I can see that happening. it just shows some places just are not worth going to.
