Correction: I said the Zoom P4 was 16 bit, turns out I was wrong! It is 24 bit, so the audio quality and dynamic range is just as good as the Zoom H6, which makes it even more compelling!
Nice video. Thanks for making it. A couple of points. First, the H6 also has phantom power on all 4 XLR mic inputs. The video made it seem like it was unique to the P4. Secondly, when highlighting the differences between the 2, IMO you've got to point out that the H6 also has built in mic options. The P4 (and everything else) requires external mics. I have the H6 but am waiting for the Podtrak P8. The P4 is so impressive that I'm expecting an even more impressive product in the P8 for my podcasting requirements.
Thanks guys! I just got the zoom podtrak p4 today! Starting a video podcast soon, so I’m excited and this video helped answer a lot of questions so thanks again! And keep up the great work!!😎
Great info. I’m stuck between this and the h6. I’m starting a podcast but I also shoot interviews and music video work so I’m still trying to decide which one. Thanks for this video.
I bought the P4 on eBay for only $150, a couple of months ago and could not be happier! I'm using to record my new podcast and Clubhouse rooms. What did you end up going with?
@@christophercmosley I'm in the exact same boat man😂. I'm starting a podcast, but currently shoot interviews and can't decide which one to go for. Please keep us posted with which one you choose🙏🏽.
Nice review! Personally I don't really care for the speakers on the H6. I personally love it when they leave out stuff that make it more expensive, and more breakable parts. It can also be less user friendly, when the layout has to make room for stuff that really isn't needed. You can't really hear small distortion on these speakers anyways. It just tells us if the recording is there, and if we have extreme clipping.
Thanks for the video. Good content. not to sound repetitive but no one asked "quite exactly" like what my need is. Maybe you happen to know. It's an audio interface question. If I am on my android Samsung Galaxy S20 (its compatible - i checked the compatible phones list) and I go out of the P4 via the USB C output of the P4 and connect into the Android via the USB C input on my android, do you happen to know if I can use that live sound coming from the P4 as my audio input during a TH-cam Mobile Live stream? Nothing is being recorded and later uploaded. It's all Live Streamed audio. And furthermore, can I use all 4 of the P4 mic inputs simultaneous if this scenario would work? Thanks. - Reef of the East on TH-cam

Just got one. Thinking about incorporating a live call in on my show or just starting a new one.
Guys the P4 is not 24 bit it is 16 bit.
At this moment zoom web page don’t say it supports other that 16 bit recording/interface. I believe Zoom could easily enable it in firmware, but ..
Not easily, neither did they change the 44.1KHz to the more useful 48KHz :-( otherwise it is a very good bit of kit that powers many podcasts.

Fun fact: In Australia, A fanny pack is called a bum bag.
Haha!
In the uk too
Not your miiiing.
fun fact in UK a fanny is a woman's FRONT fanny!
Great review, I picked up the P4 for my new podcast.
I would think you could use some desktop speakers into the headphone jack if you want to have audio without the headphones.
Great video fellas. Very insightful

Can the zoom h6 be used as an audio interface AND record to the SD card simultaneously?
LOOKS SIMPLE 2 USE N GREAT TO STORE ALL RECORDING, MAYBE THIS IS WHAT I NEED, TY
Hey guys, great video! One question can I connect the ZOOM P4 to a camamra as a preamp?
Thanks for this. Really helpful.
So how did you run into the iPhone? also what program did u record the video on?
Thanks Great video
Can I connect it with Samsung M30S smartphone via usb 'c' and use it for Facebook live
Can you record directly on to the camera?
no because it is a headphone out not a mic/line out. Also the P4 uses the CD standard of 44.1KHz not the video standard of 48KHz

What mic stands are you using in this video?
can you use this for live streaming?
That's what I am trying to figure out as well. Did you have any luck finding the answer?
I hate how these guys just totally abandoned this video and will not reply to any of these comments! So frustrating
Can you record music from iPad to p4?
You could, you can use an adapter and connect to the 3.5 input on the side (the one that its optional bluetooth adapter can connect to)
AFAIK, P4 does not have compressor
