I think the panniers look great, and you did a great job making them! It is nice to have a friend to help sometimes eh?
Have you considered making some kind of matching top case? I think that might look good and be functional as well, especially when you’re camping.
I’m on the verge of something from SW Motech maybe or splurge on something from Shad or Givi but now you’ve got me thinking I need to get creative!

Andy that is AWESOME! I've been searching for panniers since I started riding and nothing out there has come close to being anything I'd seriously consider. But this! I was like 'Damn that's genius! Why didn't I think of that?' I've used ammo cans for so many things - you can beat the hell out of them and they never get any uglier than when they started, they look tough, are tough, and if you get legit ammo cans- they aren't going to leak if you have their seals in place. And they're way way less costly than what's on the market. I'm going to have to steal this idea from you. Keep putting these bangers out here for us👊 Awesome job.
Hey Eric! Thankyou!!! Glad you found it useful. 🥰 Even my knock-off ammo boxes seem to keep water and dust out. I agree, the other panniers look a bit dorky.

Will do! I've given the bike a wash and haven't had any leaking yet. It's been about 2000kms and they've been okay. My over night camping trips should put them to the test.
Put a little rubber washer between the box and the bike and that will damper the vibration, and for leaks? Silicone the hole shut after its been installed (silicone the inside)
The only problem with the rubber washers is it won't pull up tight to the bike, so might vibrate more? You could, but would need more bolts. Still no leaks. 😃

Have you got caught in the rain with them yet? Just wondering how good the rivets seal out the water 🤔 I would guess that not much water gets in through them though. If you do have an issue with the bolts letting in water, you could always cutout some rubber washers from an old bicycle tire tube or something. Looks good!
RedRider! Thanks ☺️ I actually haven't ridden in the rain with them yet but I've washed the bike a couple of times with a hose and no water has come in. Also haven't had any dust get in either 🙂

Thankyou! 😎 They do get warm when sitting in the sun, but I haven't noticed the right getting any hotter than the left. They are futher from the exhaust and don't get as hot as the right TUSK pannier on my friends KLR650. I'm also going to line them in a future video which should also help insulate them.
If the sun is heating up the metal painting them white will negate. That's why the space rockets and shuttle were painted white to reflect solar radiation. They probably won't look as cool, yet will stay cool to the touch. It will help protect lithium-ion batteries and heat sensitive equipment.

Hey Andy, love the panniers🎉 i bought a 2018 Matt grey Rebel 500 last week. I put leather saddlebags on it for my chain locks😊
I love the 2017-2019 rebels, I prefer the look. It's a little more classic. The panniers are really handy! Great addition to the bike. Thanks for watching 😀
How tall are you? I'm 5'4 and thinking about buying the rebel 500. I'm curious about how I would look in one. Awesome content by the way, thanks to your videos I determined that the 500 will be enough for my needs.
I'm only 5'1", but I think even people over 6ft look good on the bike, but they might be less comfortable. Let me know if you do end up getting a rebel. Thanks for checking out the videos! ☺️
