HUGE 200lb Roughtail Stingray | Catch N Cook

- In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing in Nantucket for huge roughtail stingrays with my good friends Jason, Kelley, and Capt. Lee from Below Deck. The day started with us catching bluefish for bait. Once we caught enough bluefish, we started fishing for stingrays. I used my drone to find and deploy baits to catch these stingrays. It didn't take long for us to hook our first roughtail stingray. Our buddy Matt fought for 20-minutes before it was boat side. Kelley told us stingrays taste very good, so we decided to eat it. I was extremely doubtful about how this stingray would taste, but Kelly was convinced it would be tasty.

Lol I caught that too
They actually used mackerel
And their scavengers
they are bottom feeders, so yes they only eat bivalves and crustaceans. but no predator ever said no to some meat just lying there. they can't catch live blue fish.

I went fishing today and caught my personal best 17lb New Zealand Snapper. 20lb here is considered the holy grail. This channel really does inspire me to keep fishing on the tough days when nothing is happening

I love fishing for big batrays at the santa barbara pier, they give amazing fights and if you want you can eat them, so i was amazed to see you stingray fishing.
The best way to describe the way sting ray tastes is like putting a steak in the ocean. That’s why we nicknamed it the “Oceanic Steak” they taste phenomenal such a clean tasing meat! Great video josh keep em coming!!

I had the opportunity to try some local stingray at a friends wedding dinner, it was incredible! Definitely smaller than this one, and I agree with the stringy texture but recommend to try it a bit more

Sting ray is amazing been eating it all my life
This ray looks like a male Butterfly flat ray around 5 ft wide, 8-inches thick head, good catch, may be 120 lb. On the west coast piers we catch those heavy Bat rays (cowhead rays) up to 6 ft wide, 16-inch thick head. The largest on record was 180 lb. Ray and shark meat contain uric acid, if not cleaned properly, it turns to ammonia when heated.
Both of them are not only pro fisherman but pro chefs

Next time try cooking it in small steaks italian using butter olive oil white wine plenty of garlic a little bit of capper's let it cook on low hit heat till it's done serve on linguine and trust me it's going to be great

I’ve had small rays just BBQ in Australia and it was pretty good. But they were 1/10th the size of this. Might wanna try smaller ones for eating..

I had stingray in Singapore it was absolutely the best thing i ate there In fact if i go back it will be the first supper i have. They were much smaller though like 4-5 lbs 2lbs cleaned

In south africa we catch them for sport catch and release, same size on much lighter tackel it all about the fight.
