It takes quite a while to set yourself up to be secure and private. Just the hassle of transferring or removing old accounts to a new emailing service, paying for a bunch of privacy standard programs, setting up settings on browsers, phones, etc. transferring all your cloud stored files to a new cloud storage service (potentially using cryptomator), encrypting your files, moving to Linux, learning Linux, switching and learning all your programs for FOSS privacy-focused ones... The list goes on. I'd say data removal should be after you've finished your journey with this stuff so you are secure and private and you don't have to keep paying someone to remove your data.
It's taken me years off and on to slowly push myself past certain barriers I setup for myself. Google and Microsoft are probably the hardest barriers of all, but I'm slowly getting there, and with each step I've learnt quite a lot. I wish I could do it all in one big sweep, but I'd probably get a migraine doing that lol.
