Marisa nailed this performance and her singing was very good throughout the film, she sang every song instead of lip syncing like other actors have done. The reason Amy was so popular is because she had a very distinctive voice, so it would be impossible to find anyone to do a perfect impression. This actress did a great job and put a lot of time and effort into learning Amy's vocal style. RESPECT!
Why are these fake comments not coming up on Madame Web? Marisa Abela hands down has given the worst performance of any actress EVER but they’re paying to try to convince the public of a different reality
Technically they used half part of the song for Marisa and then putting original one of Amy like in The Bar scene with Blake, and we hear original track of "Know You"
This film is helping filmmakers cos it’s saying there’s a lucrative market for the worst film of all time. Kinda like how the bad ex factor singers get more views than the good ones
Now here’s a real review written by a real person if ever I’ve seen one: (source IMDb) ‘Now I have only seen one film which Sam Taylor-Johnson has directed and it was Nowhere Boy, a biopic about a young John Lennon, and that film was incredible. I haven't really listened to Amy Winehouse that much, nor seen any interviews or live performances with her. But I know one thing, Marisa Abela is truly exceptional as Amy Winehouse. Back to Black is written by Matt Greenhalgh. The film also stars Jack O'Connell, Eddie Marsan, Lesley Manville and Juliet Cowan. The film's premise: The life and music of Amy Winehouse, through the journey of adolescence to adulthood and the creation of one of the best-selling albums of our time. The music and songs by Amy Winehouse is fantastic, but the musical score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis deserves as much praise as the songs. But back to the music by Amy Winehouse, it's all Marisa Abela, what a voice and what an incredible performance. Having learned more about Winehouse, I can say without a doubt that we lost a real talent back when she died. The Queen of Camden Town, a neighborhood I stayed in during my visit to London, and I absolutely loved the atmosphere and feeling there. Matt Greenhalgh's script could have been a lot better but I still found it to be quite good, every line of dialogue feels natural and believable. Sam Taylor-Johnson and Matt Greenhalgh make a great team, her direction is seriously on point. The film's pacing and structure, at first glance, is great. But sadly, the second act is where the film goes from great to average because of its love story which doesn't feel right. Yet the first act, where characters are introduced and the plot moves forward perfectly, thanks to the editing. I just wish the script was better as I strongly believe another story could have worked better, but this is what we got. The third act keeps the main plot, the music and artistry of Amy Winehouse, front center again, with the love story being in the backseat. In my opinion, this along with Amy's relationship with her grandmother is the strongest parts of the film. The film is shot extremely well, Polly Morgan served as the cinematographer and doesn't disappoint in the slightest. The first act hooks me right into the life of Amy Winehouse, her artistry, and especially the lyrics and songs. The makeup and costume department needs a lot of praise, same for the production design. Truly magnificent work by the makeup department. Nick Levine of NME rated Back to Black four out of five, stating "This film was always going to face accusations of being exploitative - given the way Winehouse was scrutinised when she was alive - but the naysayers needn't have worried. Taylor-Johnson's film (particularly the ending) is impressively deft and delicate". Back to Black (2024) is a great film, a compelling biopic that pays respect for the late R&B artist. If you didn't like her before, or just didn't know of her like myself, you'll probably find yourself in love with her music. Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian wrote, "Back to Black is essentially a gentle, forgiving film and there are other, tougher, bleaker ways to put Winehouse's life on screen - but Abela conveys her tenderness, and perhaps most poignantly of all her youth, so tellingly at odds with that tough image and eerily mature voice." I agree fully with these two reviews. Back to Black was met with mixed reviews which should be taken in mind, for example how critics criticize the film focusing on a love story instead of Amy Winehouse as her own person. Charlotte O'Sullivan from The Independent wrote, "Back to Black is a fitfully enjoyable little package that will do wonders for the careers of Abela and O'Connell. But unlike Winehouse's oeuvre, it's not worth taking seriously. It's just too afraid of the dark." That's what it comes to by the end of things, but honestly, the film is so great. I'll check out the documentary Amy (2015) but watching a biopic, you have to think that changes will be made and the writer / filmmaker dramatizing scenes. This summarizes the film like so many that came before it, is it a bad movie? Far from it, I think it's a great film, but a biopic that could have said a lot more if they wanted to. They played it safe, too safe. At least we have Marisa Abela who absolutely steals the show.’

This was her best vocal performance in the film personally.
Is it her voice or is it Amy's voice?
@@JESSICÃO-l2jit’s her voice. ( not Amy’s )
Marisa Abela was phenomenal in this movie
You more and more think when the movie progresses she has an Amy like voice 😍
Valarie is my all time favorite Amy song and she did such an amazing job.

I love Amy so much. 🖤❤️
when the guys start talking and the song gets muffled I think that's the real Amy. We listen closely
