No matter how good the technology gets your never getting the crispy tone you can, and the Bari tone there's that crunch on those lower notes it's essential.
Except in this case...that Bari tone sounded way better than the actual Bari tone. It's the musician that has the personality, the instrument is just metal and leather
@@voltagestorm1787 That's bull. Instruments, whether digital or otherwise are inanimate objects. The only place "personality" is coming from is the person playing it.
@@vincentvega9863 you clearly don't understand what I'm saying, so let me clarify. You can't get every single pitch on a digital sax that you can on a real one and you can't bend the pitch (at least not a lot) nor do vibrato. So you're unable to get the same sounds that could make a person's sound. For example. Johnny Hodges could not play the way he does on a digital sax because of all the extra he does with his horn. Same with Cannonball Adderley. When a musician says that a horn has personality, they mean the horn's natural tone alongside what you're able to do on it that isn't just notes. Also slap tonguing and ghosting notes aren't possible so a real jazz musician couldn't use one anyways

Hello. I'm Japanese. I play the baritone saxophone in wind music. I think I will bought the YDS-150. I want to use it for Britone Saxophon practice. But keys layout are different between a disital saxophone and real baritone saxophone. So I'd like to ask you can we use it for baritone saxophone.
Key layout is absolutely the same, but this model is not the best in keys- sometimes there are miss clicks and all. I was disappointed with this yamaha.
Definitely buy the EMEO Instead of any other electric saxophone. It's the best option available, it feels exactly like a real saxophone (you can even use a real mouthpiece, but make sure to mute it) and its headphone compatible!
The thing is these things do sound really good if you play regular notes. Especially on the saxophone I prefer to play Obertones, glissando‘s everything that I can do with my mouth so. These are bad. Also because of my job as a multimusician who plays Trumpet, Trombone and saxophone these things sound like crap if you pick the sound of the trumpet or Trombone. The bell and the mouthpiece serve no purpose on this thing Yamaha actually wanted this thing to be designed as a Sax for a better feeling. But well
Just in case anyone was wondering, I have the YDS-150 shown here and the sounds all sound awful except for like 3 that sound OK. They did some post processing here to make them sound better
i thought it was weird too until one of my friends told me people who live in cities and crowded places actually take them on trains and stuff and practice there with earbuds in, nobody else can hear it
You're doing it wrong. I have one, I just never use the sax sounds. I use trumpet, trombone tuba etc. You have to think of it as the keyboard equivalent for sax.
The name of it is the Yamaha YDS-150 Digital Saxophone you are able to have all of the instruments in the video on this one and you can make more sounds as well. The only problem is it takes a while to get warmed up sometimes and the keys can sometimes fall off. But it is a great option for a travel sax if that’s what you’re looking for.
That is awesome. On a bandstand where real-estate is lacking; only having to bring one horn instead of all three... brilliant. For those complaining about tone, that can be fixed with EQ-ing.
I play all 3 but still haven’t learned soprano tho, but what I would do is I would rent out a tenor for a bit it won’t be expensive at all if you rent it and then it would make it easier to change from an alto to a bari and you can learn the tenor
the digital alto seems more muted in the high overtones, the digital baritone is less buzzy and has less texture, the tenors seemed pretty similar to my phone speakers
They're different concepts imo. The digital is more like a synth or for silent playing. For example, I have to stay in hotels quite a lot as I do client work, this is absolutely ideal for someone like me. Similarly if I'm at home and up at 2am I can still play. But yeah, the brass real thing is a thing of true beauty on this earth (I think the saxophone is my single favourite object) and will NEVER be replaced.
Hay, question, I’ve been wanting to get into classical sax rep for quite some time, and currently play a ton of different instruments excluding the entire wind family (except for didgeridoo, weirdly lol)! Which voice horn would be best to start out with, taking into consideration ease of playing and amount of rep?

Did anybody notice the saxophone on the top right that kept moving when he switched instruments
Edit: damn its already been a year
Nice
The saxophone is dancing.
😂😂
Yes
All the digital ones are recorded in one go with the same instrument and at that time the other sax was there
