    I started OTF in February 2022. At 3 months in, I can say that I AM ADDICTED ☺️. I am on the unlimited plan and am going 4 days a week. I don't know how much weight I have lost ( I made the choice to throw out the scale before starting OTF because I was obsessing over "the number") but I am feeling a lot better (sleeping better, breathing better, anxiety levels lower) and clothes are starting to get slightly looser. The biggest PRO is the supportive coaches and classmates and the biggest con is the cost. My thoughts about the cost is that yes its pricey but having diabetes, high blood pressure , or heart attack would be much more expensive so I am willing to pay for OTF to avoid those things

    I’m not addicted but it holds me accountable and keeps me in a routine. I go 3x a week along with daily walks and hikes. I’m never been able to stick to the gym but I’ve stuck with OTF for 8 months so far and I’m proud.

    I'm 65, and I've been going since May 2023, but elevated my membership to Premier when they had a special offer. When I started, I couldn't balance to save my life, and I couldn't get my head off the floor to do a crunch! Those things are still hard, but I can do them now! I dream of a toned and sleek body, but if I achieve my realistic goal of physical independence for as long as I live, the investment of time and money will have been worth it!

    I totally agree with you about the charge for not going. It gets me going to the gym. Also because I pay that high unlimited fee, I go 4-5 days a week bc I gotta get my moneys worth!

  • @ladystark9652
    @ladystark9652 2 ปีที่แล้ว +44

    Another PRO I would like to add is that everyone working out with you is so supportive and is in the same pain as you are so when you feel like giving up you know you're all in it together. The energy of the person working out next to you WILL push you to do better and for me running that means running longer distances. These are a big reason I've been so successful at OTF. It's my life now!
    Also, my gym does 2 and 3g workouts with lots of different times between 5am and 7:30p.m so I guess it depends on which location you go to.

    • @JacyErin
      @JacyErin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn’t agree more!! I love the community aspect of it, how people learn each other’s name, and cheer you on every day! Definitely not in it alone. It sounds like it’s just my location then with limited times 😖 but worth it since I can walk to the gym!

    I use to love OTF. I went for 3 years. I had a couple coaches that I had a really good friendship with and when they'd walk around and tell us to complete this 500 meter row in x amount of time, she'd lean over and tell me, I want you doing it 30 seconds faster. I loved that. Problem is when you get older, OTF is not great for someone that can't hold back like me... I pushed just as hard as the 20 year olds and of course it caused a lot of injuries. I need a lot more warm up than what OTF provides.

    Great video! I’ve been going for 4 months and it’s the only workout I’ve stuck to. I have to add though (because this is why is didn’t go for years!) that you DO NOT HAVE TO RUN! I go to a Nashville location. Each location gives instruction for power walkers (PWs), joggers, and runners. So folks, if you’re not a runner, don’t be dissuaded! I began as a power walker. We usually have at least a fourth of the class that walks (let me add that there are all ages, sizes, genders, and walks of life). I have begun to walk/jog to increase endurance and went from panting after a 20 second jog, to jogging for 2 minutes and feeling great. As I continue to improve, this will increase. And I must say, a lot of the runners have been going to OTF for years! So definitely don’t let that stop you. People who’ve seen me since day 1 congratulate me and cheer me on as I see the same folks every time I go and it’s like we know each other even if I don’t know their name 😆 So I just wanted to add that for people like myself who were a little nervous about that aspect!

    OMG! I go to OTF too :D My friend convinced me to come with her so I started out with the elite program and after one month I've switched over to the unlimited and so far I have been going everyday Mon ~ Fri for the past 3 weeks. I've never worked out so consistently in my life so OTF is a gamechanger for me. I am on a weightloss journey so I am controlling my diet and so far I've shed 6 pounds. My goal is to lose 30 pounds total so I am excited with my progress. I also watched your video where you talk about becoming comfortable with your body and your weight which was really inspiring. Keep the videos coming Jacy!

    My GF talked about wanting to lose weight and brought up the issues you mentioned of not knowing what to do. OTF is a great learning tool for beginners if you have the budget. She has been consistent for five months now and even talks about how each time is just different enough to not be boring.

    Been an Elite member since 11/2021. Weightlifting is more important than cardio, for me. I always start with rower/weight training, bcuz it’s better for energy. I get most my splat points from cardio-not weights-and we know that weights-not cardio-is the real afterburner. I don’t stress over splat points for this reason. Still love OTF! Always leave feeling better than before.

    I started OTF this month. I’m three classes in and I do like it. I like that it’s guided but that I can put in my own level of effort based on how I feel. My second class I got 29 splats. My third class I got none. I’m getting ready to go to class this morning . I’m hoping to see some weight loss in the next few months. 😊 I’m mentally committed through December, but am already planning to cancel in November. Primarily due to cost.

    I think the absence surcharge only applies to unlimited membership levels. If you have 8 classes/month and you no show that number just drops by one so you “lose” that class you prepaid for.
    Also you should want them to correct your form! Bad form is ineffective and potentially leads to injury! But agree that pushing you to aggressively go faster or lift heavier should not happen.

    Form is important because it's what makes a workout safer. They aren't critiquing you just to judge. During High School football workouts they could not stress form enough. It's more critical than completing the training at 100%. The last thing you want is to pull a muscle, tear a ligament, or hurt your back because of bad form. It would be better for you to give up than do that. Plus keeping form stops you from doing a workout in a lazy way.

    I've been going to OTF for a few months and so far I love it. I am disappointed my home studio switched some of its classes from 3G to 2G, but another nearby studio offers 3G classes at one of my preferred weekday times. I love the rower portion and wished sometimes a 2G would be a rower and floor session lol. I like that the tablets on the rowers and treads display heart rate information so I know what zone I am in. My biggest complaint is having to use the app to book classes. I would like OTF to have a member portal so we can see the monthly class schedules or a fuller view of the week that is limited by a phone's screen size.

    No filming at OTF? Already a pro. Just like at Barry's. My son took me to Barry's Noho NYC to workout with him (for two consecutive days when I was visiting him). I'm 62 and he's 28. My son recommends OTF because there is no Barry's in my area. The rower is a pro for me. I like treadmill (I fell off the treadmill during my first workout at Barry's. Got back up, continued and finished the workout). I also get penalized for no show or late cancellation at the Pilates Studio that I go to.

It's an interesting proposition for a gym and a good way for people who don't know how to set up an exercise program, like your story told, as long as someone shows them proper form. For those of you who have been doing OT for a while for the purpose of weight loss, what outcomes have you had? how much have you lost & in what period of time & with how many workouts per week.

    My friend wants to do to since she is doing it and liking it. I work out in my house at least three times a week so I don't see the need for a gym but am going to give it a try just to show her support since am proud of her for sticking to it but I probably won't be going back after the free class because I saw those prices and wtf. But lol, the amount of money they spent on psychologist must be the reason the membership is so high. Clearly they shell out for the Vegas psychologist.

  • @melodyhc6288

    It you have strong self-control, the classes are not worth it for the cost of membership. Their classes do not have a private trainer to coach you step by step. If you need be pushed to exercise, you can take their classes. To me I don’t think their classes worth that much and I also have to follow their strict policy.

    $150 for eight classes is not cheap, but it's still less than working with a personal trainer, which can run at least $100 per hour, sometimes more. Sounds like those OTF classes will give the same result as a personal trainer since the classes are structured and the person being trained is being guided through and can't decide to slack off, which is what I'd do if I had no one pushing me. Question, OTF obviously gets the heart rate up, but does it build strength?

  • @clarecarr7480

There is a lot of competition between studios and it was never ab what’s best for the customer it was that we didn’t try to convince you enough to join no matter the circumstances. The person could have a broken foot and they would be mad we couldn’t get them to join.
