Watching you throw the paint on the carving, I can't help but marvel at your eye for detail; you simply know what will look good and like a true master, you make it look effortless. A gorgeous paint job, probably my favorite yet!
Try shrink tubing to straighten the hook... maybe position it so two tines are up and bottom one is clipped... maybe leave enough of the bottom, clipped hook so that it still slightly grabs but allows weeds to slip off... rubber skirting or flashabou on hook! Bam! Fish catcher!
Not many people would share a failure like this, you're a very humble person Nate and a great TH-camr. Thanks for an awesome video even if the lure didn't produce
Put a piece of shrink tubing on the split ring and top of the treble. Just like they do to big bucktails. It will help with the hook flopping around and will increase hookups.
I was thinking it's coming up to the Holidays so themes are a possibility. Halloween - Candy Corn micro lure Thanksgiving - Corn on the Cob topwater Christmas - Santa with tinsel lol, just some ideas. Keep up the good work. Oh and a Magikarp because "Gotta catch em all!"
Man, I've been there! Took a slow walk thru hell a couple of times. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll be back on that mountain top before you know it! Everyone loves unsolicited advice! - get outside every day and do something unnecessary. It helps
Awesome video and bait as always! Maybe wife tied skirt off the hook would prevent it from being knocked around so much and would also create a little drag to keep the bait level and off its side? Just a thought, I really wanted this one to work lol keep it up buddy!
I started adding shrink wrap around the back hook hanger/split ring/treble shank of whopper ploppers to stiffen and keep the hook straight back to help increase hookups on short strikes. Might be worth a try to redeem the bait. Love the paint scheme.
After watching the amazing videos of marking baits I’ve learned how to make them and made a couple thank you so much for inspiring me and being funny at the same time Wwwwwaawaawwaaa ONE DAY!
the body may be too close to the buzz blade. when the fish, hit the blade gets in the way. extend it back further so it doesn't sit under the blade, and it will probably work. looks great!
Awesome paint job!! Maybe putting the bait a little farther back from the prop could have helped? Regardless I'm always impressed how effortlessly you can make something and it works immediately.
I would love to have one of your micro baits, like the micro popper! Big fan of your work, you make some of the best content and gorgeous lures. Inspired me to start making my own lures. Keep it up brotha'!
Bend the spinner up a bit and run it a little faster. You want the spinner to create a splash effect on top of the water. Buzz baits work like top water jigs, early morning or right before dusk. Try drawing it through water shaded by trees. Excelsior!❤
You should get a buffing wheel and pass the box cutter blade 2 to 3 times each side. Game changer, makes new blades hair poping sharp, and it glides thought the wood like butter.
I feel your pain on the kayak. I just have an suv and have to top load it and I skipped fishing last week because my back was too sore to screw around with it.
You could try something like a Gamakatsu siwash hook in place of the treble. If that doesn’t help by itself, try adding a floating straight tail or twister tail threaded on the hook to help keep it more horizontal during the retrieve.
Heck yeah BUZZBAIT!! Even BETTER 600K SUBS!! WOOHOO!! Beautiful bait. ..... yeah man like another comment get your kids involved if they show any interest to pass it on to them. Reminds me of the Outdoor Boys. ..... LOL!! The ending!! WTF?😂
Funny how when you're looking straight down at the ground, AND not the one pulling the kayak, it doesn't look so steep! LOL Still a nice looking lure, it'll work somewhere, sometime.
Try a smaller (red) hook, or extend the hook so it goes further back? I do think you was on to something with the swinging hook, the hook goes up on itselt and then lay fon the top of the baits back and the prop kinda acting like a hook guard.
The bait works great. I believe that the belly of the bait sits a lot lower than the hooks when reeling it in. Hench when u get a strike, it feels the belly and spits the bait before the hooks even get touched. You should reposition the hook lower to test.
I think a bottom treble in addition to the rear would improve the hookup ratio and somewhat solve this baits problems. Love your stuff, this blunder really surprised me. I thought this was a sure fish catcher
I think this bait is actually fantastic. What I usually do with my musky baits is put a piece of shrink tube on the hook to keep it straight out the back. I really think that lure would be a solid B maybe even an A? 😊
Loved the paint scheme. Felt your pain on the missed strikes too. Equally baffling as a crank bait has trebles too as you said 🤔. Great video regardless and you shook the skunk off!!! On to the next bait! I wonder if putting a joint connection where the fish mouth meets the shaft of wire would increase the hook up ratio at all 🤔??
Your comment about your kid drawing baits with you is an excellent idea! You should have your kids design a bait and you make it.
I was thinking the same thing. Would be super fun!
That’s a great idea
Whoot!
What he said^^^^
I second Brian.. kids draw up a bait.. master bait maker dad brings it to life and makes O-fish-al
I use "ONE DAY" for the first time at work when my team had a new assignment last week; confused gazes followed. Worth it.
You know it’s a good day when it’s a one day
Wise words
Whhhhhhhhun day!

Probably one of my favorite bluegill patterns you've ever done. Excellent work! (As always)
12:04 am on my end and this is how you start a good day
12:22 pm for me, this is how you end one
Not many people would share a failure like this, you're a very humble person Nate and a great TH-camr. Thanks for an awesome video even if the lure didn't produce

Caught one of my PB largemouth on an Epic Ribbit on Saturday. Always grateful for your content!

Christmas - Santa with tinsel
lol, just some ideas. Keep up the good work.
Oh and a Magikarp because "Gotta catch em all!"
Man, I was optimistic on this one!
I love buzzbaits
Marling baits with special effects 😊❤
One of my favorite series on TH-cam! Such an awesome mix of craftsmanship, entertainment, and of course fishing. Keep up the great work!
My new favorite paint job of yours!
Only thing I look forward to in my life at the moment keep up the great work

One day.... The one day.... Will be on that one day... (Mind Blown)
I had so much faith in that bait, still an awesome buzzbait, it would be awesome to find one in store like that to try out
Great work as always thanks man!!

Thanks for sharing brother
Your channel inspired me to learn to fish. I've washed my share of lures over the years, but I never actually learned how to fish.
Beautiful little nugget !
After watching the amazing videos of marking baits I’ve learned how to make them and made a couple thank you so much for inspiring me and being funny at the same time Wwwwwaawaawwaaa ONE DAY!
Cool,looks like a pufferfish.
Lovely bait thanks for making and sharing!! ONE DAYY
A brook trout swim bait would be sick looking!! ❤
You should make a bowfin lure
Thank you for making my night at work better. ONE DAY!!

I’ve always wanted to do a duckling similar to the deps evoke 150 which is basically a floating Buzzbait. Love this one for sure!
Trens de Pesca - Brasil - 👍👍👍
The voice of an angle, “one day” 🎶🎶🎶🪽🪽🪽
Beautiful bait. Thanks for showing us the Kayak struggle. Felt like I was there.
ONE DAY!!! I'm late but still made it! Thanks for the upload Nate! Helps a lot more than people know...
Front 4 print treble. Deps evoke 150 has a similar setup. A all wood gill w a buzz on the back would be a great option as well. Great paint
CONGRATS ON 600K!!!!!!!
Awesome One Day! If it makes you feel any better, I felt the burn in my quads after watching that hill climb with the Kayak!!
Congratulations on 600k!
saw this on instagram, cant wait to watch this!
I really enjoy these ONE DAY they are nostalgic
My favorite lure is a buzz bait, this looks so cool
I Love your content I live in Minnesota and I have been watching for around 2 years.
Looks great. Kinda reminded me of a pea puffer.
beautiful
6:16 pygmy sunfish are black with blue and that would be an interesting paint scheme
Found in the Florida panhandle

Thanks for the Fun Fact!
That might be the best paint scheme yet
I’ve made a handful of wooden buzz baits 🤔! It’s fun seeing your lure ya make work at the top of the water, for the majority of your cast!
0:25 Now I want videos where you just make and use baits that your kids draw for you...
This is an interesting concept
You do some amazing stuff man
Please can you make more lures using fish skin
It would be really cool to see a mirror carp or pike lure
These videos get me through the off season 😂
The phrase that makes my day
Awesome paint job!!

Ah hell yeah. Thanks nate
Yes. A treble hook seemed liked a good idea. That was a beautiful design and paint scheme. Put a single on it and try again. I'll bet it works!
Ludicrous Speed, GO!!! _pours lead_

From just a fan, thank you sir

One day!
Beautiful paint job tho! 👌
12:36 RIP Wooly Bugger
Adam, that Preybait is gonna be a killer this fall.
what a creatives idea

I was just looking at getting a buzzbait earlier today. Though I'm looking for a bfs version but still funny how that happens
It's time for Some Prehistoric dino lures , plesiosaur
Coelacanth, sea scorpion, mosasaur.. would be awesome to see you bring back some fossilized baits!!
Heck yeah BUZZBAIT!! Even BETTER 600K SUBS!! WOOHOO!! Beautiful bait. ..... yeah man like another comment get your kids involved if they show any interest to pass it on to them. Reminds me of the Outdoor Boys. ..... LOL!! The ending!! WTF?😂
ONE DAYYYYYYYY
One dayyyyy!
ONE DAYY!
Funny how when you're looking straight down at the ground, AND not the one pulling the kayak, it doesn't look so steep! LOL
Still a nice looking lure, it'll work somewhere, sometime.
Congratulations on 600k subscriber's!
I found your channel on a late night now I'm addicted!
What a perfect piece plucker you are!

Love your content
Hey Bro, but yourself some kayak wheels, they work great.
You should put some shrink tubing over the spilt ring like on a tailspin musky bait to hold the treble out stiff.
The bait works great. I believe that the belly of the bait sits a lot lower than the hooks when reeling it in. Hench when u get a strike, it feels the belly and spits the bait before the hooks even get touched. You should reposition the hook lower to test.
Awesome paint job as always. I was wondering if you could make a Vampire bat for Halloween and do fun facts on them. thanks for the videos.
Looks like a turtle head, love it
Treble hooks are weird they won’t hook up sometimes but they’ll hook everything made of cloth 😂 it’s still a beautiful bait Marling!
Add some bucktail or feathers to the treble hook and try again... Nice work!
nice job!
Congrats on 600k subs !
I think a bottom treble in addition to the rear would improve the hookup ratio and somewhat solve this baits problems. Love your stuff, this blunder really surprised me. I thought this was a sure fish catcher
that kayak pulling section went on way longer than i was expecting haha idk why but it made me laugh pretty hard
Good on ya remembering the net!! 😂
heat shrink you use for wiring, use it to hold your hooks out straight, it works
The eyes really made the paint scheme pop
The buzz bait you made looks dope AF. Maybe they weren’t that hungry. You know how bass can be. Sometimes the buzz bait ain’t the buzz.🤙😎
I think this bait is actually fantastic. What I usually do with my musky baits is put a piece of shrink tube on the hook to keep it straight out the back. I really think that lure would be a solid B maybe even an A? 😊
Hey again Nate:
Put a winch on the front of your truck, then just winch the kayak up the bank? Easy as pie. :~)))
Dave
Loved the paint scheme. Felt your pain on the missed strikes too. Equally baffling as a crank bait has trebles too as you said 🤔. Great video regardless and you shook the skunk off!!! On to the next bait!
