I have a 1942 no mint mark penny that’s missing AME on the back. Just says RICA. Hasn’t been worn off, it’s just not there. Also the D in United is half there. Do you have any info on one of these or why it’s like that?
I thought I found a 1943 copper penny when I was 16 years of age. I went to a reputable coin dealer to check it for authenticity. I was shivering when I entered through the door. I handed the penny to the coin dealer and she took it to the microscope. She looked for only about a minute. Then she went to the soda machine, got a soda, and patted me on the back as she gave me the soda. She told me it was a 1948 that was altered. She let me look through the microscope and explained how to tell if it was real or fake. Today, I still have that altered 1948 penny. I have it framed with a caption that says, "Dreams never come true." I see it before I go to bed. It is the first thing I see when I wake up. It keeps me realistic about life.
@@Gavinator_444 It really has set a theme for my life. But I expect nothing from life and I get nothing accordingly. Thus, the disappointment of life is not so bad. I know what to expect from life.
I just found a triple struck obverse 2000 Lincoln penny...the AM is clearly molded together on the reverse...and clearly a floating roof on memorial...worth anything???
I have a 1946 wheat penny where the wheats are half gone or very distorted. And the nine is flat on the other side.. i dont know if its counterfeit or anything but i havent been able to find any picture online where the wheats look the same as mine.
I have a 1943 wheat penny. Around the edge of the penny looks like it’s silver. Also when I put it in front of my AT Max metal detector the hit I get is low 7-15 and a low grunt iron garbage hit. It should have a nice high signal. Have you heard of a silver or iron counterfeit penny? Thank you!!
Couch Collectibles Thank you! It’s actually a 1943 Wartime/Steelie cent. It is made from steel and a little layer of zinc. They made them, because of the shortage of copper in 1943. The one’s to look out for are a 1943 copper or a 1944 Steel penny, those are the rare coins! Thank you for your help!
Hi Justin, have you ever come across or heard of a counterfeit Lincoln Wheat Penny? All the Words, Text Size, Color, Portrait & Reverse are perfect. The only difference is the weight, it weighs less than a feather! I would really appreciate an answer, I held onto this coin for decades just because of the oddity.
Hey justin there was no 1922 philly wheat pennies made. They were all in denver. So the only way to know that you had a denver No D mintmark was there was no philly coins cuz they have no mintmark. Thus no confusion.
That sounds like a penny struck on a dime planchet. The 1948 dime was struck on a silver planchet. Silver tarnishes in a goldish tint, at first. Then later the tarnish will start turning sort of bluish as it further progresses. If what you have is a penny struck on a dime placket, you have a rare error. Do not, under any circumstances, clean the coin. Get it seen by a reputable coin dealer. If it is truly a penny struck on a dime planchet, get it graded. The error does not happen very much. Given that the planchet would be silver, if the coin really is a penny struck on a dime planchet, it will be worth something more than a 1948 penny. I hope that is what you have. It would be great!
Hey Justin, Good video. I was looking at a no mint mark 1909 V.D.B the other day on eBay just to pass a bit of time now I live in London UK and there was not too many but one I did see had the V.D.B engraved into the coin! I hate how some people are willing to deceive others. Take care and see you soon.

Question the 1922 Philadelphia has no mint mark and the 1922 Denver has no mint mark how do you tell the difference between the Philadelphia and the Denver penny
Got my first "cherry pick" back from grading. Bought a 82' mint set for cheap, and it had a no FG Kennedy half. Came back MS65!!!! Quick question...it is very dark in color, looks like toning, but it is not silver. What is that called??? "False Toning? Side-story: when I was new to the coin game I found a 21-D Mercury dime(hard to find) on Amazon and it was priced correct for the grade. So I bought it. When I got the coin, I knew it had to be a fake...wayyyy to nice. So I took it to my LCS, and they had to do several test, it was that good of a forgery. Luckily, it was at least silver. Come to find out, it was sold through a 3rd party...CHINA!!! Lesson learned, I do not buy any coins from China.

If you find a coin with an error that is different form the errors you usually look at. How you determine the value of that coin?
I found a steel Penny and was so happy, then I noticed the brown sploches.....so I threw it into the sun.
I have a 1948 wheat penny which looks silver with a light gold tint to it. The outside looks like a cap or 2 coins together.
