    A lot of people are saying “What is she talking about? She looks great!”. The thing is she’s fully clothed for a reason. She doesn’t want to show her body. Clearly. She looks great for her age but I think what people are not grasping is that there could be deformity that happened due to the procedure all over her body and she’s not willing to show that. Until she’s willing to show her body publicly then we’ll never know what she’s really going through despite her effort to describe her condition. People sometimes need the visuals to fully understand things and we don’t have that from her and we probably never will.
    All we can do is to empathize with her and put ourselves in her shoes.

      @@nullvoid8941 This is what happened to her:
      "Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is a complication that follows CoolSculpting treatment. The overgrowth of fat tissue in local areas treated with cryotherapy characterizes PAH. Localized areas of fat growth cause literal hump deformities and correspond to the placement of the CoolSculpting applicators. This deformity is associated with weight gain following CoolSculpting and results from the loss of mechanical strength provided by the superficial fat that was removed by cryotherapy. As such, the deeper fat tends to grow unimpeded in areas of treatment when compared to non-cryo-treated areas with an intact superficial fat network. Because of this, severe underlying deep fat excess and severe skin redundancy come along with these hump deformities, coined Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH)."

    I truly get why she is so traumatized by this. I had a medical procedure "disfigure" me when I was young and it is a horrific thing to see your body change in such an uncontrollable way; and in her case it must be devastating when her career has been modeling, despite how toxic the modeling world is. However, Linda is still extremely lovely, and nobody can take that away from her ~

    • @nishottara777
      @nishottara777 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The procedure went fine. It was how her body reacted to having fat removed in such a manner. About 7,000 out of 1.5 million of these go this way unfortunately. People I don't believe are well vetted for it, if at all. The risks are definitely in the fine print that people sign off on. Fat is very tied in with the immune system. Her body laid down fat to protect itself because it thinks it's being injured. I used to perform a very similar procedure.

    You cannot look like you did 30 years ago. No matter what kind of procedures you do to yourself, you will never look the way you did. And, that is ok! Aging is inevitable and people need to understand that and embrace it. I understand that in the 90s she was on top of the world with her looks and modeling and all of that, but she needs to let go of that and focus on the present and love her aging body.

    • @michaelvaughn3703

      I don’t think she was trying to look like she did 30 years ago. I think she was just trying to lose fat which is exactly what people do when they go to the gym. Stop shaming her. If someone is fat and they don’t wanna be then that doesn’t mean they don’t love themselves. It just means they don’t wanna be fat. I would be more concerned if someone got comfortable with gaining 50lbs and gave up on their looks.

      If you listen to the episode of People Magazine podcast (available for free) you will understand her story more. In there Linda said she embrace aging. She would love to age and see her son grow. Her concern is not about aging and it’s not about her looking old, it’s about the lumps and bumps that she was left with caused by the CoolSculpting procedure. They’re numb to the touch and hard like mass or tumor from my understanding. These aren’t fat that you can normally squeeze on your body. That is why she feels disfigured and this is also the reason why she’s fully clothed in her pictures. Until she exposes her skin to the public we will never know the extent of her condition and I feel we will never really get to see it because she’s embarrassed to show them. All we can do is empathize with her.

    While I truly feel sorry for Evangelista, it points to the pressure that many have trying to preserve their youth. Instead of slower modifications of improving one's health and getting ones BMI to normal levels, many are impatient and want to undergo many things that are truly unnatural. Promoting frostbite, surgical removal of fat, and liposuction all have risks. Be comforted that you have achieved what many only dreamed of. But at your age, I would just try and understand that your youth is behind you, and try and live a positive life. The lawsuits will not make you regain any of the original body contours which were done with your own knowledge of the risks involved. She should have ideally have gone to a board certified plastic surgeon and not a dermatologist. Dermatologists are experts on the skin, but the plastic surgeon has the additional training of working with tissues below the skin. She needs to empower herself to accept who she is as well as the wrong decisions she had gambled with. Not everybody wins.

      No one is arguing that "The lawsuits will not make you regain any of the original body contours which were done with your own knowledge of the risks involved." This sentence is just meant to shame someone who, quite reasonably, made a living off the fact that she was born with extreme beauty and who, quite reasonably and only in her 50s, sought to extend her career and then who, quite reasonably again, filed suit in order to regain SOME of the damages she incurred as a result of this procedure. I had never heard of the risk and had been considering coolsculpting so I'm glad she warned everyone; any woman would be devastated by this outcome let alone a supermodel who saw her career and public identity kind of fade away as a result of this procedure. If you need to shame someone, shame the manufacturer and FDA. (And yes, I agree with others, she is still gorgeous even when not all made up, and is also looking like her younger self on the cover of British Vogue this month.)

    • @SilverShadow2LWB
      @SilverShadow2LWB ปีที่แล้ว

      @@catherineo8689 Please do not take my statements as shaming, I am only stating fact after being in the beauty industry for three decades. Women have painted themselves into a value system that revolves solely around their appearance. Here in the US, many of those brilliant and beautiful women become invisible after 50 yr of age. Other societies revere and respect those same women because of their knowledge and experiences. Guess who the biggest critics are....other girls and women. Also remember that this procedure has been done thousands of times with great results and has made plenty of people happy. But like many cosmetic procedures it is not 100%. Look at all the women with bad perms or hair coloring, luckily the bad results are only temporary. But it is a known risk. One does not try to close down a salon if one client had a bad chemical reaction, or was allergic to the process. It is a known risk of the procedures. As humans we are driven by appearance. Who in their right mind would buy flowers which are starting to wilt? A man might get a few day out of them, but women know natural aging better and avoids them. The problem boils down to our artificially created beauty standards are off in our society. Why would women purposely buy the most uncomfortable shoes? Or paste false eyelashes on our own natural ones? Wear uncomfortable girdles on hot days? Or get breast implants? Do you ever see men doing such things? Linda was a beautiful aging naturally. Why get greedy and try to artificially turn back the clock. Some would risk it, but also be prepared to live with the results.

    She wasn't just in the top 5- Linda was the one everyone was focused on.
    Anyone who followed fashion during this timeline- there were about 10 supermodels, started in the 1990's. Of the top 10- Linda was the "It" girl. Everyone could not get enough of her beauty, she was everywhere! Talk about winning the genetic jackpot.
    The only thing about beauty is that time steals it away, so you can't bank on it forever. You have to diversify yourself & grow into many other things. Above all- learn to develop beauty from the inside because that kind of beauty will last you your lifetime.
    I'm glad to hear she is speaking out for an issue close to her heart, no longer is hiding & living her life out in the open.
    Good for you girl. We are proud of you- whatever may come your way stay strong Linda & you keep right on growing- it's not over for you.

      You nailed it. All of it. She WAS the face of the 90s, so glamorous and cool. A very detached and aloof beauty, with a bit of a gender non-conforming edge, that really personified the decade. I’m just a few years younger than her and I remember staring at Vogue and other fashion magazines, and watching Elsa Clentch’s early morning fashion shows on TV and just gasping at Linda Evangelista’s unattainable beauty.
      But you’re right, we all know beauty fades. And unlike the high school homecoming queen who could never get over her glory days and ended up aging badly, us more quirky and edgy women knew earlier on that we needed to have other “talents” to rely on than our looks. I really hope that Linda Evangelista has other income streams she developed aside from looks related ones. Because as gorgeous as she still is and always will be, we all need to be smart as we age.

    "Who are you when you no longer look like yourself?" More like, what assumptions do people make about you now vs. when you looked younger? Or how does one's appearance affect one's psyche? Excellent question that should be examined closer.

    It's full circle. She used to make normal woman feel bad about their looks by selling the "ideal" with the aid of makeup and hair and a beauty team and professional photos, and now she feels bad about her looks. Welcome to the other side. Just think. She played a major role in selling an "ideal" and now she's mad that she can't live up to the standard that she set.

    She's still so freaking beautiful!! Ageing sucks I just turned fifty and I noticed I'm getting spots no wrinkles yet thank goodness. It's difficult waking up and not recognizing yourself any longer. I think for me maybe I was tied to my image for so long and I worked in entertainment nothing on the level of a Linda, Naomi, and Christie.

    Getting older doesn’t mean your disfigured. Your body changes in time it’s called ageing.

    To me she just looks like everybody else that ages naturally...I don't see any disfigurement..and even though she's pointing it out, I still don't see it as she does. I just see a woman that is going through aging like the rest of us.

    She should take a look at Katie Piper and see what that beautiful woman went through and Katie isn't bitter she is dignified and positive. Linda Evangelists has been extremely lucky in her life and what she is complaining about is entirely of her own choosing.

    It is NOT a MIRROR or DRESS, or DOCTOR Linda, you are 56 y.o. and still healthy, wealthy looking good and alive! Accept it, grow up mentally, there are more important things in this life and world than to be obsessed with your look like you are.

    I used to work as a "technician" doing fat freezing and there is a rare chance it can increase fat in the area, that's the reason why I didn't do it for free on myself. Probably wouldn't have happened but I can't afford liposuction if it did, and don't want surgery. She looks amazing though, very beautiful. I hope she can move past her image but it's been her whole life. She's a very beautiful woman whether she ages or has a lump near her arm, it doesn't matter

  • @joanofarcxxi

    The more beautiful and unique you look as a young woman, the more painful it is to accept yourself as you age. She looks great. But she will never look the same as she did at 25. And that is totally fine. Because getting older is not for everyone. Some people will not make it that far. She needs to get out of the modeling industry and enjoy life. That shallow world fosters sick unrealistic standards.
