    A Saturday Afternoon all was well in my house until I watched this video!! Now I've just had an ear full from my wife for spending £90 p&p include from buying this kit.
    Ok it means not getting a word out of her until Monday but after Weighing it up this could be a win win situation!
    As always great review.

      I said it's an investment! To which she replied "so when do you move from padlocks, door locks, barrel locks to BANKS!! It's a good job I like being alone in my shed for very very......very long periods of time! It's fantastic.

    I have had this kit (albeit I got a second hand one) and it’s brilliant, I added the heavy bars, snake, city & bogata in 0.020” along with sandman & warlock to round it out, I highly recommend this for serious pickers rather than beginners due to the cost but it’s well worth the layout (or investment)

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, there are kits a bit more suitable for a beginner for sure :-)

    Great review Lock Noob. I've been using the Tron for a while now, and it has become my favorite pick. It's very strong. The only thing missing from that kit is some picks in .20, or less for tight warding. Excellent value if you have that kind of money to spare.

    Best Sparrows case ever. The majority of my Sparrows picks came from smashing together the Tuxedo+ and the Monstrum kits. Sooo many great choices. Love it all! Add the SSDEV hooks with the thermal handles and you are seriously cooking. Sparrows, f*ck yes!

    I know im late to the party, but it really is an excellent kit. I got it about 2 years ago. I bought the 50 thousanths TOK from peterson for $10 plus shipping. Paid $7 for shipping and got 2 peices. When sparrows came out with theirs i bought it as well. It was $6 and $6 shipping and i got 5 peices. Sparrows for the win. They look almost identical. Cant tell the diff by feel.

    Mine never was sealed in a bag like yours. Also, they seemed to separate the wizwazzle set from the Monstrum picks in my case. (Monstrums were in their own bag). They sent me two trons and a Lazer burnt matador, so they're sending me the matador and missing low HD.
    The set is monstrous though. Only people doing legit locksport contests have any business owning this lol.

    I have almost all of these picks they're fantastic :) I personally use sparrows high reach and a sparrows short hooks the most with the matador and the lunatic coming up very close behind as for rakes when I use then I find the worm and the city rake to be the best for me :)

    Why is it that they offer all these varying types of picks but only one thickness? Wouldn't you get in way more locks with just the more common picks but in other thicknesses?

    • @wombatdk
      @wombatdk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That was my thought too... granted, I'm not by any stretch anything more than a lousy picker, but I find myself using the same handful of picks. Just in different thicknesses.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      kaptenrobert I think I can only reply yes, no and maybe. There are so many factors at play with picks that the thickness of the pick material isn’t always the deciding factor. Many people, myself included think that shank hight is more problematic than material thickness at 0,025. That said, the 0.023 Southord MAX picks are a real joy. :-)

  • @iyeetsecurity922
    @iyeetsecurity922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In hindsight, I wish I'd have just gotten this to begin with instead of wasting money on two cheap sets, then after discovering Sparrows, a couple of different "beginners" sets.
    Even with someone that's just pick-curious, I think they'd be more likely to stick with it having spent $100ish on their first kit. Plus, you can buy each pick individually when/if you break it. I wish you could do that with the Dark Shift set. Mine is out for delivery today and I can't wait to get it.

    • @LockNoob

    Good review. While you're a fan of Sparrows' cases, I'm still looking for one that will keep my ToK tensioners and other short tools in place, without having them float around in the case should it be turned upside down. I'm not sure if this case will do that.
    By the way, I think you should do your friend a favour and slip in a Medusa.

    My reccondation for new pickers keen to learn... BUY THIS KIT FIRST! yes, it's over 100, but, I started with the honest Chinese set (red handles) which is decent. Wanted something nicer, went to the Tuxedo Royale (Sparrows) by the time I realized I needed this kit, I'd already purchased half of it individually, and invested the hundred elseware. Fortunately sparrows sells the special hooks in this kit separately..... 😉 💰 💵 💸

    Now that is a great review buddy and a great pick set. I have never bought Sparrows gear but got a case in a trade from Pickbeard which is a lot like that case (Snake Skin Looking) and also a couple of picks from Arewethereyet from ukls. I think I would give Sparrows ago to see if better than Peterson or Southord.... Still want to try Southord Max Slims though

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do love the Southord MAX slims, but each one is about £10 delivered. Peterson do the best handles but I recon Sparrows do the best value. Best to get a mix IMO :-)

    • @waddac2
      @waddac2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True... I do Mix and match myself. My picks in videos are always petersons, but my back up kit for work has Petersons, southord slims and a few RCS Ripple handle picks that I got years ago... Maybe I should just use my work kit LOL!!! reason I don't is spp at home, but at work will riffle through a kit to get a lock open quick

      A lot of auto locks(especially older ones) are wafer locks, with 2 rows of wafers, one in the top of key way the other on bottom.
      Wafer mechanisms very easy to pick, but auto locks have a few quirks:
      There is a small shutter tha keeps the lock sealed from dust and dirt, but a thicker tension turner can hold it open.
      There are 2 sets of wafers, and you will need to switch between picking the top and bottom sides, often several times, to get an open. The turner will get in the way, so you will either need to use two turners, and swap between them while maintaining tension, or use a Y Wrench, a tool designed for tensioning car locks, and you won't have to worry about fumbling about with two tension tools.
      For picks, I find that ball, snowman, and half diamond profiles work best for me, great for both raking and single wafer picking. There are also specialized rakes that can be used to hit both sides at once.

    what the hell, bloody plastic, why even does this need plastic, paper or a recyclable box would be totally mad, my God, wonder why were killing the rivers and seas. I wish Sparrows gave a shit about the amount of polluting materials in their products. Especially the handle coatings. Great picks but so betraying of the generations we say we love.
