One of my favorite television programs from the 60s and 70s. May those actresses and actors who have passed away, rest in peace and God bless them. I had a wonderful time watching this program when I was a kid, in the 1970s.
You've got to remember these shows had very small budgets and retakes are costly. Plus back in the 60's no one could have imagined that these shows would be so widely available and so scrutinized in the future. :)
Actually, shows like this often did re-takes, especially if it was a noticeable flub. This, was barely noticeable. Imagine watching this on a 1960's TV. You'd never in a million years see the person in the background. Since it didn't involve the principal actors, worst case scenario like this is they would crop the action. People would notice the film get a little grainy and that's about it.
@@CorndogGaming I am not sure if it really is the same, but it seems like parts of the old exterior is still preserved even if it has been repurposed later for other TV series (i think the interior where mainly build by loose sets that could be moved around and did not had too many obstacles for the camera rig, unfortunately i don't think much pieces of them are still preserved as far as i know). However there shall be an almost exact replica (as far as i know never used in the actual series) of it in private ownership.
@@CorndogGaming It was probably the replica i was thinking about, but anyway it's pretty much accurate, i am not sure if one can visit what remains of the old original exterior models, but they should still be around somewhere in on the company studio site as i heard.

I think its Butch Patrick without his Eddie costume on trying to get to the other side of the set. He was just a kid, probably didn't realize they were shooting a scene.
Well, the guy got a few seconds of body fame. Not a big blooper like a jet flying over a scene that took place in Roman times. They did not catch that one until the movie came out. Amazing. George Vreeland Hill
that kids name is Armando Alvarez , his father worked on the show , Armando use to tell me stories of how he was the only other kid on set other then Butch Patrick , and how he would wonder around the set all summer when he was off of school ..
@stephengatelyfan Well, I'm not sure, probably about, 5? thats how they get all the different zooms and angles!!! An actress huh? In like musicals? Plays? TV? Movies?
Other little things show up in the series. I remember seeing the shadow of the boom man on an ep. Herman goes next door & the scene takes place in the door way.
Its grandpa giving little Eddie another pill or spiked drink to make him a better runner, trumpet player or grow a real cool beard, Grandpa was Eddie's pusher
Just a crew member walking on the set behind the scenes. It would be cool if former crew members would watch it and see if they can identify who it was. Whoever it was has been immortalized on screen.
yes how I recall first being acquainted with this on Nick@nite's Classic TV Rewind and the narrator saying in conclusion about the person walking through in the background"...and shattering the realism of the scene.Yes agreeably and it's if not at the same time a wonder that it made it into release then maybe The Cameraman and/or director didn't care upon noticing it and didn't care to say cut and have it done over either?
A blooper like this happened at the end of A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim (1951). As he's joyfully jumping around his bedroom after waking up you see a guy in-yes-a white tee shirt come into view in a doorway in the background. Check it out.
Well someone seems to know for sure that it's Butch Patrick in his free time wandering the set. It's never actually occured to me that it might have been him, but yes, we can see it's a small child, who else would it have been if it wasn't Butch? What other small child would really be wandering the set while scenes were being shot?
I think Butch Patrick had opened the stairs for Herman and then loitered around back, unfortunately in the shot. It happens to cast members and stage hands in 2017. Happened to me when I forgot my mic.
Back in the 80s I used to see Al Lewis (Grandpa) with his wife at a certain restaurant in the San Fernando Valley every Friday night. I saw him checking out a waitress once and he commented to his wife.... Funny guy!
What I'd like to know is: what is hidden behind the stairs? Obviously it's another section of the cellar. And my other question is: what is behind the wall across from the entrance to the living room? Why wasn't that part of the house ever shown?
@@whyyoulittle4537 maybe? I seem to remember it being well after Nick at Night. There was another one for the Dick Van Dyke Show when he was eating breakfast and something came flying out of his mouth and they deduced it was oatmeal from a previous take
Probably just one of Grandpa's experiments wandering around.
Always thought the stairs was Spot's home.

LOL. Not for long. One of the shortest series ever.
Yup good times watching this in the 70s
It is a haunted house after all, just one of the resident ghosts making his presence known.
It's one of Grandpa's experiments walking around.
Yesss thats what I say....
In a white tee-shirt? Probably an out of place stage hand.
This makes the Munster's set look more authentic.
the rope puller for the door on the stairs
You've got to remember these shows had very small budgets and retakes are costly. Plus back in the 60's no one could have imagined that these shows would be so widely available and so scrutinized in the future. :)

Maybe they themselves hadn't seen it. Even if they did no one noticed it until now.
Was anyone else expecting to see the stairs come down and crown Herman?
I certainly was.
😂😂😂Yes that’s is exactly what I was expecting
It would have still fit into the premise of the show because it could have been explained as a ghost in the house.
My favorite show as a kid - , everyone else loved Marilyn but I always was infatuated by Yvonne DeCarlo
@I d i o t i like fred he gorgeous without the herman costume
❤ Beverly Owen or pat priest
In the unaired pilot episode, Herman's wife was a slinker lady named Phoebe. Hotter, but more Bride of Dracula than Bride of Frankenstein.
Yvonne was perfect for that role.

What a lovely home.
The house is actualy still preserved, i think it is a private home, but the owners decided to restore it back to what it was supposed to be.

It was Eddy. He over-slept and wasnt in costume yet. Or Marilyns boyfriend... ;-)
Hardly a blooper. And I though Herman was gonna bang his head or fall down halfway. Now that would have been something to see.
I thought maybe he was gonna yell "Damn! Damn! Damn!"
Well... you though wrong.

Angel Feliciano kinda hot? She was super hot! And I'm not even lesbo😂

A ghost - very appropriate for the show. Not a blooper at all.

OMG the house was really haunted LOL
Hes not walking backwards. Hes just casually walking through the backstage area. He walks up to something, steps around it, and continues on.
The way the face moves backwards tells me that the guy was pulling a rope to open the stairway "door" Herman walks through.
so they've got ghosts in their house..
makes sence actually
No what really a good eye.. This blooper is well known . I actualy came to you tube to find this blooper. I remember hearing about it 30 years ago.
As I'd first seen on Nick at Nite's classic TV-rewind the person walking by in the background which shatters the realism of the scene.
supernatural lighting person.
That's the guy in the Spot suit. It says in his contract that he gets to be on screen whenever the stairs open - one way or another.
I think its Butch Patrick without his Eddie costume on trying to get to the other side of the set. He was just a kid, probably didn't realize they were shooting a scene.
Stage hand pulling the rope to open the stairs.
I keep thinking that it is Eddie walking around back there. The person seems to be his size.
I watched The Munsters recently with my bf & he also likes the Munsters too.
it was just a ghost, not a blooper haha
munsters = perfection
Grandpa had some late night company!!!!!
Oh it is something you can't find every day, blooper of old show is awesome ;D thanks
Good eyes make for good bloopers, nice job.
It's such a small blooper it's only noticeable if someone is really looking for it. I doubt many people in 1965 would have seen it.

Nick at Nite pointed this out years ago I remember.
Perhaps a ghost or goblin was hanging out at the Munsters' residence?
well,it IS a spooky old house.maybe it was a ghost :P
yeah I saw him. didn't really pay attention or care since I was watching Herman expecting him to hit his head on the stairs.
This is why they yell "ROLLING" on sets. Not only that, but they echo it!
Other little things show up in the series. I remember seeing the shadow of the boom man on an ep. Herman goes next door & the scene takes place in the door way.
Yes, I saw him. But then, I knew about this particular blooper. I did not notice when I first saw the episode.
I always wondered what 'went on' under the stairs.
That "guy" in the background is actually Cousin Clyde...who had passed away in the previous season. He still visited on occasion though.
If you watch this in the dvd you can also see a fold-up chair in the same place you see the guy walk through the shot.
it was one of grandpas monsters
I noticed it when watching this, but at least we can give them the explanation that it was a ghost or something.
No one would notice that. Focal point is Herman (and just how the hell he kept his footing in those boots!!)
